All I've ever had done was a pressure check and asked for a quote to get the valve stems replaced. They came back that the head was good declined the valve stem seal replacement as they knew I was going to do it myself, ridicules price for a 4 cylinder and i already had the seals. They did the machining and it was picked up. Installed the head and was having a coolant leak. White smoke. Pulled the turbo and found out coolant was leaking into the exhaust. No leaks into the cylinder. called them when I determined the head was cracked. They claimed i requested a vacuum check and that I never said I wanted it checked for cracks. then told me the vacuumed check does not check for cracks and all it does is check the seal on the cylinders. Now there are several issues with this as one I didn't know they even did vacuum checks so I wouldn't have requested that. Two they knew either they or I was going to replace the seals which effectively renders the vacuum check pointless. As removing the valves to replace the seals can cause the valves to leak and finally, I specifically asked to have it checked for cracks and they claimed I didn't.

Multiple shops in town were backlogged for months or were experts in other makes and models, but two of them recommended Herbert Performance for their expertise with Subarus and the quality of their work. After speaking with Eric, we brought the heads and block in for inspection. Two days later, Eric called back with detailed recommendations and a reasonable quote. In less than three weeks, all of the problems caused by the original shop's negligence and shoddy work were resolved. The motor was returned clean and fully assembled, ready to install, with detailed maintenance instructions for break-in and ongoing care. We are just over two weeks in, and the motor is running like it did when I bought the car new! I am overjoyed to have my car back on the road! Thank you!

Lucky guess for me. I called Aims to find out if they could do the job, the cost, and when it would be done. I wasn't exactly thrilled by a 4 week turn-around, but it did demonstrate that the company has a thriving business, so somebody likes them, even if they don't rush out to do a positive review. So I brought Aims my cylinder and in a little less than the 4 weeks they estimated, I got a call that the work was completed. I came by the next day, paid for the work and took my parts back home. Job done, price as stated, happy customer. A 5 star rating is the right thing to do. As an aside, the guys at the front desk are uniformly courteous, capable and helpful.
