I'm down there at least once a week with my dragonboat team training, and am always greeted with a smile when I grab my (excellent) coffee. The location is lovely - looking out over the water at all those boats. Beautiful on a stunning Auckland summer day. ... But the food is just average. I ordered bacon and eggs on ciabatta. And while you can't exactly screw that up, you can make it pretty average - which is exactly what this place did. The bacon was terrible quality, it was covered in fat and it came out looking horrible on the plate, just dumped on the side. My poached eggs hadn't been drained properly and were watery tasting as well, so that made the bread taste awful. The bread wasn't well toasted, it was somewhere in between... I just don't get it. I could have got better at home, and I wouldn't have paid $18 for it. The muesli that my friends ordered was bland and didn't come with any yoghurt, so it looked dry as anything. Coffee was average, it wasn't disgusting but it wasn't great. It's just... pretty average. It seem clearly to me that this is a place that relies solely on its location.

The spread of sweets, sandwiches, salads, and whatnot inside is IMPRESSIVE. The staff are great, the made to order dishes are ambitious. Just... relied too much on the thick piece of bread to be imposing, so basically you have to really like carbs, at least for this particular dish!

Cute little place and good coffee, but the service was off and the food was just mediocre…read more For starters, the eggs were overdone for their requested temp (over easy was done like over medium and over medium was done like over hard), the smoothie was pulpy, and the french toast was just alright. The toast was a little overcooked too but it didnt ruin the flavor The service wasny terrible but at some points it felt like it was servers first day on earth. When they brought out my latte, i asked if it was the hazelnut latte (as that was what i ordered) just to verify because she only said it was a latte. She acted really confused then said that she didnt know. Later when bringing out the eggs, as they were auctioning off the two egg dishes and we all pointed to the one at our table who ordered it and all said it was his, and they acted really confused until we repeated ourselves like 3 times. At one point someone at out table asked for raw sugar for their coffee (once again the server acting confused until we repeated ourselves a bunch) and brought out brown sugar instead. Its weird because it was not that loud in there to where they wouldnt be able to hear us Overall it was alright. Id go back got coffee and thats about it

Our server was super sweet and attentive until we placed our orders. We never saw her again, no mention she was leaving for the day (I could see her inside on her cell phone and changed with a backpack). Our food was delivered and the other server didn't seem to notice (or care) that our water glasses were empty, as I found out that she too were on her way out of work. We didn't get water refills until the check came, in which is was a third server and then it took probably 2mins for her to run our card because she was busy setting tables and chatting with coworkers. The food here was amazing and filling- large portions, but the Mac n cheese was disappointing. I would give this 4 stars, but due to the fact that the servers are more interested in going home and chatting with coworkers than taking care of their guests (at one point we were the only table in the whole place and still couldn't get a water refill), this place is getting only 2 stars. It's got potential if it gets new staff.

As you can see with the photos, Dirty Laundry does not follow its namesake; it has a clean, crisp and hip interior and a pretty nice patio area. We had an awesome waitress that was more than obliging when we asked to charge our phones and requested a wifi code. We decided to go with the Smashed Avo. Stellar choice; eggs were cooked perfectly, chilli oil and hummus were both a nice and subtle touch. We also had the breakfast tacos. The salsa that was on the side was so tasty; we were bummed when it was all gone! For drinks, we had an espresso and mimosa and there were no complaints there. Both drinks were fresh. We got away from Dirty Laundry with 3 entrees, an espresso and mimosa for close to $40 USD. Not too shabby! Please, if you are on a cruise stop and don't want to travel far from the pier, check this place out. Overall: 5 Venue: 5 Service: 5 Food: 5 Drinks: 5 Price: $$
