There was one main pasture that would have up to 18 horses one it at one time - every day. There was a roundpen, an unusable outdoor arena, and two small paddocks that combined could take another six horses. The fields were over grazed and there's no real deworming protocol in place. Owners weren't held responsible for deworming, then their horses would go out with the others. Hopefully the owner has become more mature with her management but if it's anything like it was 5 years ago, stay clear!

She was absolutely sweet, understanding, knowledgeable, and very patient. My two cousins who went with me aren't very experienced riders, and she walked them through everything. Royal Creek has an amazing way of setting up the entire experience. They are really good at pairing the rider with the house -- not easy to do, but very well done. Once you arrive, you meet your "guide" and then are introduced to your horse. I really enjoyed the fact that you have some one on one time with the horse you'll be riding before you actually get on. You get to give your horse a brush down so they get comfortable with you, after that the horses are saddled up, and they take you to an indoor arena to ride around and get comfortable. Your guide will then make sure you're comfortable to take you out to the field where you'll ride around for a while. This was honestly one of the best horseback riding experiences I have had in a long time. Also, their prices are super reasonable. $105 for 3 people for an 1 1/2 hours

We called and left a message. A few minutes later a very sleepy sounding person called back and said that "something came up" and they weren't doing pony rides that day. She stated that rides would be happening the next weekend. We had driven 30 minutes for this experience. Needless to say, we never went back and won't be going back. It seems like the owner could have updated the website so that we wouldn't have made the drive. I understand that things come up and that life happens. I wish this organization the best, but my advice to anyone who might be hoping for a pony ride would be to call ahead!

By then, Brian and his family had opened Creek Hill. It was a little further away than the other facility, but it was less for full board and most of my drive was highway. Long story short, I moved her there and both of us couldn't be happier. The barn may not have the bells and whistles of other farms, but the level of care is exceptional! My OTTB is calm, comfortable, and has never looked better. Tons of turn out weather permitting. Quality care at an affordable price is hard to come by, but this farm has both! Highly recommend!

The exercise machines are all in great condition, but feel squished together into one smaller room, so that when you are using the chest fly machine, you can feel the breath of the guy on the leg press machine and the grunts of the barbell warrior vibrate in your chest. It is close quarters, but everyone is polite. The locker rooms are located in a back hallway and up a couple steps and I don't know about accessibility options, but it is also tight quarters in the locker rooms, especially the bathrooms. Two stalls are jammed into a corner, so plan your potty visits with time to spare. It definitely gets the job done and you can get a great workout in if you already know what you are doing. But for people new to the gym or to working out, I think they could do a better job of making you feel welcome and making it clear who you can go to for questions if you have them. The front desk folks were friendly, but the three times I have been there so far, the staff member in the weight room is on the computer or their phone and doesn't even look up to acknowledge people who are at the water cooler 3 feet away. I'm not entirely sure they ARE an employee. All in all, it is a solid workout and a fine stop if you find yourself in town. You can't beat the YMCA network and as I travel all over, I am grateful to have a place to get my sweat on.
