The practice also transitioned away from their longstanding Columbia City home to seeing clients in the office spaces at Center for Birth in Eastlake. Despite these many changes to SHM, the practice has held true to their reputation of providing excellent midwifery care to the Seattle community with Brooks at the helm. Her care is genuine, evidence-based, and from the heart. Suzanne, office manager, is equally skilled at her job, attending promptly to administrative needs. Communication is across the board a major strength, primarily via the client portal. I was particularly impressed by Brooks' steady presence and intuitive, tender care during my labor and birth. When I checked in the registrar said "it should all be covered". She also did not mention that they are not in my network. They billed over $1000 for a routine screening mammogram and I now owe the deductible because they are "out of network" for Premera Heritage Prime. The technician and scan were efficient. The follow up letter was timely.

We found Kim when I was halfway through my pregnancy and I am so glad we did!…read more I did not have an easy pregnancy nor labor and Kim was great through it all. If you are looking for someone that will not only have your best interest in mind but your baby's as well than she's the one to go with. I was in labor for 7 hours and while I was pushing Kim noticed that the umbilical cord was wrapped around my daughters neck. She quickly had Mary get things set up so once they were ready I'd be able to finish pushing my daughter out. The moment I did Kim worked so quickly at not only removing the umbilical cord but working on getting my daughter to breath! It felt like a life time for my husband but really it was a very long minute. I was so exhausted that all I remember was seeing my child limp and white one minute to full of color and breathing on my chest the next. If you have ANY fear of thinking that a midwifery is unsafe think again!! Kim's knowledge and fight for a healthy mama and baby is what you'll get!! I am soooo thankful we were in her care!! I was honestly ready to give up on breastfeeding. Kim gave me so much confidence, support, a new breastfeeding plan and also let me know I could stop pumping for stimulation and I would be ok. Breastfeeding is now going really well and I have Kim to thank for it. She is so knowledgeable, so patient and kind, words cannot explain. I would absolutely have my next baby at her birthing center. She is an expert practitioner and I had an amazing experience. I wish I had found Empowered Pregnancy sooner!

Clearly the system didn't work as I got a form letter regarding my 'no show'. However - what really upset me was the personalized note I received at the bottom of the form letter: "We are very busy in the clinic and need appointment slots for other patients. We appreciate that you not make appointments you can't keep" It was signed by Dr. Waterman - not sure if she or her office wrote the note. Either way it was in bad form to write a shame note at the bottom for a new patient. I will definitely not be seeing her/or anyone at pacific hill if this is the way they treat new / existing patients. Their systematic mishap/bug results in a personalized nasty gram? Not that their office cares as they are so busy. Its hard enough to find a doctor, let alone one you can trust - not going to trust someone who felt the need to shame me before meeting me- or doing their homework that their systems were down. Pretty sure that is why Form Letters exist - to avoid someone writing their own personal feelings and making customers (because its America, we pay for treatment) angry or feel as though they can't entrust the individuals in who we place our most intimate needs.

For good reason! She is friendly, very intelligent, and I feel comfortable speaking with her about any concerns or questions without it being awkward. Sometimes she is a little hard to schedule, as she is obviously very busy, but she is competent and definitely someone I would recommend.

Dr. B runs the site Menopause Menu, which is as hackneyed as it sounds. For two years, I reported extreme and worsening symptoms and over the course of several appointments, she dismissed each symptom as menopause. No, you hack, it was Stage 3 cancer. She never even sent me to a specialist. Plus, echoing others, she was never, ever on time.

This made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome in the space. He then proceeded to tell me that I needed to go to the desk downstairs, which I promptly obliged. Upon arriving at the desk downstairs, I was not greeted or even looked at. I announced my name and that I was there for my 11 o'clock appointment and apologized for being five minutes late. She then proceeded to tell me that I was going to need to reschedule and that my check-in time was actually 10:45. I explained to her that whoever I spoke to on the phone told me to be there at 11am not 10:45, and if I would've known I needed to be there early I would've shown up early. She explained to me how they supposedly have on file a reminder call in which I never received, no voicemail left, as well as never receiving any type of email confirmation explaining that I needed to be there early. After typing away on her computer for another five minutes, I asked her what she is doing, and she expresses that she's trying to find a new time for our appointment. At this point, I am frustrated, and now 15 minutes past my appointment time. I let her know that I am uninterested in using their services and exit the building with extreme relief that I never have to be in this environment ever again. After the experience in this extremely unwelcoming environment, with extreme lack of flexibility (even 5 mins), and complete disregard for any type of logistical organization, I will never be returning. And drove away with a huge smile on my face that they will not be receiving one dime from me or my insurance company. I am also very excited to let my primary care physician know so that he never has to send a patient here ever again as a referral. His patients deserve so much more than what you all have to offer, which is apparently very little. This business is an embarrassment to the Bellevue medical community, and what an absolute shame for patients that they have to deal with such a lackluster business. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES!! UPDATE: My sister has received a service here. They left her on the exam room table, half naked, for over an hour before she received her scan. She was in her teens at the time and too scared to get up and disregard her primary care physician's orders. We will be alerting all women we know within the greater Seattle area to never come to this sub-par establishment.
