Hands down, this was the most bizarre jewelry shopping experience I ever had. So here's my story: I was in the market for an engagement ring and decided to check out Sieger's. Walking in, the place looked a little shabby, but my primary concern was with the customer service and quality of work, so I didn't mind the low-end appearance. I wasn't greeted but saw a sales associate helping someone else and there was also a very annoyed looking guy sitting at his computer. After about a minute he looked up and asked if he could help me. I had a very clear idea of what I wanted so I told him and that's when the madness started!
I guess the guy had absolutely no people skills and I'm guess some mental or psychological problems because he didn't know how to talk to me without yelling. The strange thing is that he wasn't necessarily getting hostile towards me, it was more like he was just hostile with the world. He only blew up when I asked a question. For example, I inquired as to why platinum costs so much more than gold when the two metals are almost the same spot price on the market - a legitimate question. Instead of calmly and professionally explaining the reason he erupted into this frantic, almost incoherent yelling to answer my question. I hate to admit it, but it was all rather amusing to watch this guy flip his lid about jewelry :D
At another point he was looking at other similar rings that they had in stock. He found one that was somewhat similar and then would talk in a very calm, smooth voice saying to himself "Wow, that's a sharp looking ring". I would say something like "Who's the designer for that one?" and then he would commence the yelling again to answer me. There were even times when I saw another sales associate look over with wide eyes of shock seeing how the guy was behaving.
Anyway, at the end I asked for the guy's name; he ignored me and kept talking about something else. I asked again and he threw his business card down on the counter and walked away. I read the name on the card and that's when I realized that he was Kevin Sieger, the owner!
It's pretty unbelievable and honestly I'm glad I had someone else there with me to vouch for that authenticity of my story. So, all in all, I wouldn't go to Sieger's with any intention of actually buying jewelry. However, I would totally go there if you are looking for some free entertainment! read more
