This was my second time here. The first time, I wasn't a fan at all. The guys who were working were incredibly kind to every single person that came in.. even our 10 month old! I made my first visit to the Sidewalk Deli this afternoon and holy cow was it amazing. the French dip sandwich was far and away the best one I've ever had, and I will forever use theirs as the standard for any other I try. my boyfriend has the meatloaf sandwich special and he kept saying "OMG this is SO good!!!" as he ate. we both demolished our orders, and the service was outstanding. can't recommend highly enough, would give them 500 stars if I could. read more

The Sidewalk Deli is located in cute downtown Salisbury. They have indoor and outdoor seating and have an extensive list of sandwiches to choose from. Rueben: Nicely grilled bread, excellent kraut, good corned beef, but the cheese was not melted. They also use Russian dressing, which is actually what an authentic Reuben calls for, but they put too much on--it got a bit messy. Cole Slaw: Nearly perfect, for they know what all too few other places know--a key to outstanding cole slaw is celery seeds. The only problem was that it was slightly too wet. Potato Salad: I ordered the mustard based Southern style, but they gave me the cream based redskin style instead. Whatever. The redskin type was ok. It had perfect texture but was bland--very one note. Lobster Bisque: I am a sucker for lobster bisque. The version here is very good and features very large chunks of lobster, which is unique. Sweet Tea: It was not sweet enough and the tea taste was off. It was so bad I dumped it out and switched to Cherry Coke. It took a long time to get my food, and they weren't that busy. At first I was OK with this, thinking that the sandwich would be very hot and fresh, but as I mentioned, the cheese was not melted. Not even really warmed, it was nearly cold and solid. Part of it was the upcharge for the lobster bisque and the extra side of cole slaw, but my lunch was very pricey. Three and a half stars would be the correct rating, but I am rounding down due to the unmelted cheese, bland potato salad, poor sweet tea, and high price. read more

I am all for supporting local and small businesses. If you see my reviews, it's mostly small businesses I frequent. Why this place is so loved is beyond me. It's *filthy* and expensive. Ordered was the West Square sandwich and it comes with one side, I got the potato salad. I ordered a bag of chips and two drinks... FIFTEEN DOLLARS, y'all. ONE sandwich, ONE bag of chips and TWO drinks -$15. We sat outside bc it was busy. The table, filthy. Napkin holder, filthy. Floors, filthy. Salt and pepper shakers, filthy. Inside is just as bad. I've been to plenty of outdoor sitting and it's never been like this. The sandwich was good, potato salad was barely a serving... they don't even fill the cup they serve it in and it's lacking flavor, it was straight mustard flavored and that's it. First I wanted to support local business and second I had never been here due to I'm not always around when it's open. I am so very glad I chose this place today. I explained I had never been here and the guy running the register was super helpful in explaining things. I chose a sandwich from the specials board, the Cuban Sandwich (minus the slaw) and he let me know that the pork loin on the sandwich is made in-house. The food is very affordable and taste amazing. Man, I was hyped on this place by my brother in law and sadly it did not live up to all of my expectations. My wife & I came in right after my Dr. Appointment before they were hammered with the lunch crowd and it still took 40 minutes to get 2 sandwiches and a slice of cake. Please do not get me wrong the sandwiches and cake were excellent and we really enjoyed it. Stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday. It was hopping! Many tables were filled and there was a line of about 8 people ordering their food. The atmosphere is casual but friendly. They have a wide variety of deli sandwiches and salads. Most are $5.95 - $8.95. I ordered a classic Reuben. It came with your choice of side and I got their red skin potato salad. The food was good although portions are a little small for my taste. Their selection of sandwiches is plentiful and I will go back to try some of their other offerings. However, $7.95 for a sandwich and one side might be a bit much for some budgets. read more

I forgot what its called but I got a ham and cheese sandwich but it had all this 'mess' on it, I'm not quite sure what it was but I personally didnt care for it. Very good deli, meats and cheeses are top notch. Sides are small but by the time you finish your colossal sandwhich you probably won't care. You stand in line to order and pay for your food then you sit and wait for them to bring it to you. One issue I have with this system is that they don't have numbers or anything so the waitress walks around looking for the person to match the order with. At lunch they get really crowded and could probably save time by putting a system in place to match orders with people. read more

My go-to place for lunch in downtown Salisbury! Rick, the owner, is one of the nicest guys you'll meet and he will always greet you with a smile. Sidewalk is a great place to grab a quick bite to eat, with great options at a decent price. I highly recommend the peanut butter pie, it is heavenly. The Sidewalk Deli is a very good deli for downtown Salisbury. The West Square is by far my favorite. The Reuben and French Dip are also excellent choices. They have lots of side items to choose from. The fact that you can have a cheerwine or a vanilla soda here is hard to find. The lines can be long here but always worth the wait. Sidewalk Deli is by far my Daughter's and my favorite place to eat down town Salisbury, Love the soups, sandwiches and salads and all of the sides you can choose from. My favorite is their turkey and provolone on sub, toasted and heated with a side of their home made pasta salad. The owner is always there, and super friendly. He knows most of his customers by name. I love all of the staff here, they are always so friendly and helpful. I can't recommend this deli enough, it is great food!
