Checked out this funny and quirky restaurant in Galena. Durty Gurt's is a long time local favorite…read morewith drinks and food that's better than it looks. It may be kind of dumpy inside but the place is also full of crazy personality. A lot of the basics along with a few fancier items. The prices are pretty okay for the portions and quality. Basically if you're a group it will probably be waiting for a table so go early. It's one of the popular places to go around here. The last time coming here we got seats at the bar and there wasn't any waiting. Has a lot of cool memorabilia to look at. There's a bunch of funny signs on the walls. It's about $7 for a basic cocktail. The Fuzzy Navel is one of the classics you can get. It's about $13 for a burger and fries. They have a veggie burger that can substitute. We each got one of these. I got it with the toppings of the Basic Burger. These come with the usual toppings like lettuce, mayonnaise which I left off, onions, pickles, and tomatoes. She got it with the toppings of the Olive Burger. These come with cheddar, lettuce, mayonnaise, olives, onions, Swiss, and tomatoes. For sure it gets busy. It's located on Main at Franklin. They're closed Wednesdays.

We ordered two cheeseburger kids meals with fries for our little humans (who were thrilled, and honestly, so were we sneaking a fry or two) and the San Francisco Patty Melt--which is chicken-based and satisfying enough to hit the spot. The kids' meals were solid: burgers and fries that were tasty and well-sized for little appetites. The San Francisco Patty Melt was enjoyable--juicy chicken, melty cheese, toasted bread, and a reliably comforting choice. Durty Gurt's has a fun, lively vibe that makes you want to cheer when your food arrives, and the playful, colorful décor--bright signs, quirky wall art, and whimsical little touches everywhere--makes the whole place feel like a cheerful, slightly wacky diner full of personality.

My memory is that everything else was a la carte - and the side dishes were overpriced. Stopped by again in December of 2025 - delightful experience! Rick had a burger with LTOP (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle) and I greatly enjoyed the Three Little Pigs - so much deliciousness wrapped up in one sandwich! Service was great. They have lots of seating - but no televisions for watching sports. Will definitely return.

The place had a few tables filled when we arrived. We placed our order and waited. A few more tables filled. A few tables left. We waited. And waited. And waited. We watched as the tables nearby got served - even though they came after us. A query to the waitress and she responded - yours are next. Then we get 4 of our 6 orders. And waited for the other two. The. One of the orders was not cooked fully, so she then waited. Did I mention it took an HOUR from order to first delivery, and then longer for the two chicken sandwiches, then longer for the re-fire on the under cooked burger. The burger I had was good but in no way worth any type of wait. And the place wasn't even packed!! Good burgers and onion rings. EXTREMELY SLOW SERVICE. And really not attentive for a small town restaurant. I would pass on this place. It's good but not worth a trip out of the way, nor worth waiting.

I'm not a snob so I can do a nice place, a dive and anything in between which was how the weekend went. The bar was pretty busy for a Saturday night and I was going to do a fresh patty burger but pizza after pizza was going out the front door so I might rethink my burger. The place is your typical Wi small town bar and not a dive but old looking that is CASH ONLY with a full bar and restaurant. The menu is decent for a bar and they take the food seriously with fresh beef burgers and real pizzas. I had a couple beers and gin tonics which were ok and not top shelf. The place is pretty loud and it was hard having a conversation but it was the place to be. We ordered the 16'' Soprano pizza with sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, fresh mushrooms, onions, green peppers, green olives and black olives. First off they don't skimp on the toppings because they were plentiful and the pizza was really good with a nice saltyness from the green olives that worked so well. I doubt that they make the crust and I could be wrong but it very good because it was not thick or cracker thin but a nice in between that was like a fresh chewy crust from good fresh baked bread. It was weird to bump into the owner of the bar that we usually go to for drinks and pizza like we were cheating on him but it was all good but unexpected. Overall the pizza is good, the drinks are ok and the prices are very reasonable for a casual dinner and drinks and I see why they were packed and the lady's working the bar did an outstanding job keeping up with all the people.
