However, the menu was very limited, and my wife is kind of picky so there wasn't much on the menu for her to chose from. Might want to have a little more extensive menu. The restaurant is a lovely, elegant place. But sadly, what we experienced was very disappointing. Our drinks alone kept being forgotten. Our food took an hour and a half to be delivered to our table. Yes we got the word they were short handed in the kitchen. That would have been a nice gesture to be explained at the time of seating. The food presentation was nothing compared to the pictures on their website. Our plates got sent back twice and still weren't cooked correctly. Our waiter was very kind and understanding, and yes manger did attend to us and returned their apologies with a $25 certificate. Still, I'm sorry the certificate would not enough even cover a single plate from there. Therefore I left the certificate in the bar area. Sorry it's long, but I have to be fair. I love Fine Dining & anytime I hear of one in the Valley, I flock to it like a seagull, with no stops. I was really excited about this place, it's SUPER classy. I love the building! The outside is nice classy & mysterious. Once you enter, it's a great surprise. They kept all the original architecture, of the building which gives it a rustic, antique, yet chic classy feel; from the ice house features to the newspaper history of it, its beautiful. The antique furniture throughout is an added touch to the place. The low-lighting gives it another appeal which takes it to a different level of romance & elegance. There's so much to appreciate in this place, such as the architecture, ambiance, music, chicness, romance, elegance, expensive d&d watches, art, decor & even the smell. So by this time as you're experiencing all that classiness as you walk in, your level of food expectation is out the roof. You're thinking 4 to 5 star cheff. So now let's talk food. The prices are steep, but it's expected because of the place, which is okay but, my opinion is that if you're going to pay a high price, the food & service needs to match up to it. We were a party of 4 (ended paying $295 w/tip included). For starters we ordered the champiñon (mushroom) fondue & the pork belly tostones. The fondue with the soft buttery baguette pieces of bread was very good. It came together to awaken your senses. The mushroom was fondue was garlicky, yet smooth with the flavor of the cheese. Very good. The pork belly on the other hand, was extremely greasy, bland & if you didn't bite it with the sauce on it, all you could taste was the charcoal taste to it & miss the experience. The plantain it sat on felt like a wafer with no taste. Fir the second course we ordered a mushroom soup, blackberry salad & watermelon salad for our second course. The mushroom soup was not very good. It tasted like it was a canned cream of mushroom soup with grilled onions with pepper & they poured the white wine in it at the end without simmering the alcohol out. You could taste the alcohol as you breathed in the spoonful of soup. The watermelon salad was served with the white bitter parts to it, not adding to the dish. The blackberry salad was too vinegary making it an unpleasant experience. Sorry it's long, but, it's only fair because we were paying a high price for good food & service. Our main entree consisted of 2 orders of lamb chops that came with risotto & brussels sprouts with a light tomato sauce. I'll just say the brussels sprouts were right on. The roasted, candied flavor was what added flavor to the rest of the dish. The brussels sprouts was the star of the dish. Everything else was bland, except the charcoal taste of the lamb, although, the level of the lamb was cooked to perfection. The tomato sauce tasted like it was made with old oil, which lingered in your tongue & it barely had a tomato taste. My husband ordered a snapper with 2 shrimp that came on a bed of risotto & charred asparagus. The shrimp was a little overcooked, but had a great garlicky scampi taste. The asparagus was also very good with the charred taste complimenting to the natural flavor of the asparagus. The sauce that accompanied it had a very fresh pineapple flavor, which added to the dish. Then for our desserts... did I mention I was celebrating my birthday? We ordered the Death Wish Tiramisu, chocolate pana cotta, & a lemon tart with raspberries. Where should I start? The tiramisu had barely any coffee flavor. With a title like that, I thought I was going to stay up all night with all that coffee. I could barely taste it. The lady fingers were still hard because they didn't allow the cookies enough time to soak up the coffee liqueur. The créame in it was right on, but why steal the coffee from the cookies? It was hard to cut through it with a spoon. The lemon tart tasted store bought. The crust was thick instead of flaky & it was very tart in which the raspberries only added tartness with tartness. The pana cotta was very chocolatey & good. The service needs to step up. They had one (1) server for the whole place. I saw another guy there, but barely saw him do anything. The poor lady had to serve cocktail drinks, serve food, change utensils, fill the water & clear plates. At a high end restaurant there should be at least 3 people to a table. I would recommend this place for the romance, ambiance, classiness & experience, but the food & service need to catch up to the experience & price. It's a 5 star for the atmosphere & 3 star for food & service. read more

I honestly can't believe that a place like this exists in the Valley. The outside looks like a normal building and you'll drive right by it, if you aren't paying attention. But when you step into the building, you're greeted by very helpful staff and the decor/lighting sets a very stylish and upscale tone. When you're escorted down a long hallway into the dining area, you're struck by the dramatic and tasteful ambiance. I ordered a drink at the bar (the French 75) to start and it was very good. My husband and I had the steak and salmon and we both loved our dishes. We went with the blackberry chocolate cake for dinner and it was very unique and delicious. Someone had told me that while this is upscale dining, there is still a warmth to the people who work there that makes everyone feel welcome, which I found to be absolutely true. People seem to love what they do there, including the owner who checked on us during our meal. Would definitely go back to this place! read more

Nice atmosphere but food was average and service was very slow. Our party was charged over $30 for water (not bottled) refills without warning, which seemed randomly applied to each person. No one asked for refills, she just occasionally refilled glasses. With each drink ordered waitress asked us what brand of alcohol we wanted and then upcharged $6-$7 per drink for it on the bill. I have never been asked to specify my alcohol brand before. Ridiculous prices for drinks and a shock to everyone when they got their tabs. read more

Hands down - I was blown away by how beautiful and classy this bar is. The drinks are amazing. I enjoyed a sidecar, French 75, and New York sour and was not disappointed. I find that it's pretty hard to find these type of drinks and may are the bars here in the Rio Grande Valley so encountering these drinks here was a true gift. The menu looks Exquisite and the Ambiance is Chill and highly welcome me. I can't wait to actually participate with their specialty reservation been in the next time I'm in town. I never write reviews. Unless something extremely compelling happens, that forces me to. I took my girlfriend here for a night out. We were seated. And props to them, beautiful looking place. Inside was really nice. We both ordered a cocktail from bar took our seats. We were enjoying our cocktails talking, not loud, not obnoxiously in any fashion. We ordered an appetizer. Everything was going fine, it was time to order our mains, and I ask for a bottle of house Pinot noir. The waiter informed us that alcohol had been detected on our breathe when we walked in and we were not allowed to order a bottle. Obviously, I asked to speak to a person who had more power for further explanation. We eventually get offered a glass of wine, when provided zero reasons for why this was happening. I repeatedly asked what we were doing to warrant this treatment. Now y'all might be thinking, "oh he was probably drunk and didn't remember". No. We were fully conscious. We said no to the glass and said that we were extremely offended. When they heard us say that, they said we were being abrasive and were cut off again. I have never in my entire life been more offended, confused, embarrassed for a restaurant in my life. You are a restaurant. Not an airplane. Neither myself or my girlfriend were falling down, yelling, throwing up. Nothing. Sure, people will review your establishment and say it's nice inside and hot and new and fresh; but y'all, the management is a disgrace. Know that going in. We got up and left the bill, got in our Lyft, went to The Patio, ordered our bottle of wine and had a lovely dinner. We have since told everyone we know do not support these people, and hopefully you all on here will read this and follow suite. Having been down here for a long time and traveled all around the world, there are at least 15 better places with the same ambiance, liquor selection, food quality with competent and respectful management.
