Finally got to the airport, tired from the two planes I took to get there, with a reservation…read morethrough Rentalcars.com in hand. The reservation was made over two months prior. When I presented the reservation and asked if the car was ready and what color, was told yes and white. Almost immediately, I was asked if automatic was ok. I said fine. I then asked if there was any charge for it, which there was of course since anything and everything in Italy needs to be paid for, especially with tourist money. At that point, I asked the stick rental be provided and they said, not for the car make I had rented, only the automatic was there. I then asked the charge be waived since the reserved stick car was not there nor was there an equivalent. I was at this time it seems becoming annoying to the agent. The nerve of me asking for what I had reserved and completely paid for in advance already. I was asked if I wanted the car or not and if not, there was nothing that could be done for me. Keep in mind I had been traveling almost 13 hours and had a rental agreement inhand and was their customer but no, there was nothing that they could do for me. My idea to waive the automatic charge was ludicrous to them. I took the car. Of course I agreed. It was basically, take it or leave it and step out of line. I disputed the charge for which they provided the paperwork I was strong armed into signing. So to wrap it all up, Hertz-Brindisi did not budge. I did not budge. To my surprise, Visa took the charge siding with me. Bottom line, you could have a signed Papal Decree for a rental car and there is a good chance you will have problems like I did at this location. What bothered me the most is that they just didn't care. Not the slightest. It's like, so what you have a rental agreement, this is what we have. Think twice about Hertz Rental! Think thrice about the airport location.

Very dishonest, I have hired a few times at Brindisi airport with Avis and they are getting very…read moregreedy and dishonest, I rent every 3-4 weeks, last time the woman (same one every time that pulls the stunts) told me they no longer did full to full fuel and I had to bring the car back empty, I told her I wanted to bring it back full and that's what I had booked. She told me they no longer did full to full however when I returned the car I complained to the guy taking the car back in that I was not impressed in giving them half a tank of fuel and he told me it was an option and of course they still do full to full! This week I rented a Renegade Jeep, the same woman told me they had none and would a Mondeo be OK I said OK only to find on returning the car I had been charged Euro 154 for my 'requested upgrade'. On top of this I specifically said I wanted full to full fuel, she said OK and did then just went ahead and did the fuel up front option. Be very careful if they offer you a different car, it's the same woman every time (long dark hair) she bare face lies right in your face. I refused to sign for the charge for the upgrade I never requested and they still took it from my credit card without authorisation, now taking it up with BA, American Express and Avis head office. I have been promised a refund by BA and when I return to Brindisi in 2 weeks times (renting from a different company) I will be visiting the Avis desk to collect the name of the dishonest member of Avis staff for this to be taken further. When you say no to any upgrades she just ticks yes and then hopes you believe she has done what you have requested. Double check the electronic contract that she doesn't show you and film the car for damage as the guys returning the car next to me were being scammed for non existent dints.
