I like the Doctors themselves. Dr. Sibia performed eye surgery on my Dad in 2022 successfully & I had my first eye exam with him. When I became a new glasses wearer my initial prescription was too strong & needed to be adjusted. The office has no clean indoor air quality filtration whatsoever & I am speaking as someone who is airborne aware of all the pathogens not just covid that can also enter the eyes and I speak from experience. In my last visit I had to ask the nurse tech Anne 3 times to put the mask over her nose! I asked if she couldn't do it to send it someone who would. When she went to put in drops to dilate my eyes she had bare hands that she had just touched the door knobs and computer with & reached for my face by my eyes & I literally had to stop her & tell her to put gloves on. This is how healthcare aquired infections happen! How many other patients faces & eyes was she touching without gloves on?!? All staff dealing w/ patients should have respirator masks & if touching a patient gloves. read more

Muhammad comes over to me and says you can't sit here.I said I didn't put myself here.The assistant dead he goes.Will I need this room?I said no problem, I'll wait in the hallway.All of a sudden, I hear my name being screamed on the other side of the hallway.I peek around and set as everything.Okay, he literally starts exploding at me screaming.How I could wait outside in the hallway outside of the office.? I asked em what his name was, and he literally lunges at me where the assistants had to hold him back.I've asked the girl at the front desk and with the office manager.I left the message as well as tanya.The scheduler to save that video recording.This gentleman has caused my blood pressure to spike that when doctor miller walked into the room, she saw me shaking, and she knew something was wrong. The office help and in particular one female assistant. I don't know her name, but she has short black hair and many tattoos. I had an 8:00 AM appointment so I would not have to wait in a doctor's backed up waiting room. I was not called until 8:25. When I mentioned this to the so called assistant, she made excuses and told me she did not like my attitude. When I again mentioned their blatant tardiness, she refused to see me. I have a very poor opinion of this ophthalmological center: in the eye exams prior to a necessary cataract operation, the technician who examined me made a mistake and placed my lesion in the eye opposite to the one it should have been... that is to say, they almost operated on the wrong eye... their costs are exorbitant compared to other institutions and when they offer you which of the two types of surgery they do, the Chief Doctor informs you that he only does the Laser one, not the classic one, that one, which costs less, is done by other ophthalmologists... conclusions, I do not recommend that center to anyone!! read more

I chose Sibia because they were on my provider list for my insurance. I was worried about keeping the appointment after reading all the horrible reviews that were posted but decided to judge for myself. I am so glad I did. I was greeted kindly and quickly by reception, saw 3 different technicians ( Carlos, Jordan and a young lady I didn't get her name) before the Dr., who ran tests, asked questions, tested my eyes, and prepared all my information for the Dr. Dr. Reiser was extremely nice. Explained everything thoroughly to me, asked if I had any questions, made me feel at ease and my whole experience at Sibia very great. The most unprofessional office I have ever been in. I am almost 70 years old. They informed me to lie on tests to get insurance coverage. Never ever answer a phone call, but you want an endless amount of hold time. I have reported this to Humanna, I have reported this to the Florida health department and now I am reporting it to all the few people looking for an eye doctor. I had my first appointment yesterday in the Boynton Beach office with Dr. Sibia. I made the appointment before I read these reviews so I I considered canceling once I read them. I'm very glad I didn't cancel. All the staff I interacted with were courteous and the exam was thorough. The equipment and use of technology was impressive also. Dr. Sibia himself was warm and gracious and spent a lot of time going over my results and answering my question. I can't understand why my experience was so different from some of the scathing reviews here. Some of the worst come from people who live in states far from Florida. The local negative reviews come from patients who visited offices other than the one in Boynton Beach. I do have a problem with the building itself. Did not see doctor due to incompetent staff at the Lake Worth office. I was given an appointment card with the date & time for my appointment. This was confirmed twice by voice mail and once again by email. When I arrived, the office was closed. The next day I called and was abruptly told to tell any grievance to "Tammy." I researched the office manager and called Tamela Bates Balderas at 10 a.m. that same day. I left a message describing my frustration upon finding a closed office after so many confirmations and requested she call me back so she could fit me in soon. She never returned my call. This review is for the Lake Worth Rd location which I couldn't find a yelp page for: My wife Mollie was in with Dr. Rubinate a few weeks ago for her yearly eye exam. She wears both contacts and glasses. The office refused to give her an eye glass prescription and suggested she either make another appointment with them (charge again for another eye exam which is both unnecessary and likely not covered by insurance) or go to an optometrist. In refracting my wife's eyes, the ophthalmologist gets the eye glass prescription then adjusts the eye glass prescription it in order to ascertain the contact prescription. This is how it's done everywhere and to force the patient to go in for a second eye exam is absolutely absurd. Sibia Eye Institute has lost both myself and my wife as patients through their greed. Great office.Dr Sibia is thorough and caring.I had a bad ulcer in my eye.They got me in the day I called. There was a long wait, but that's because there were so many people that needed to be seen, and I was fit in as an emergency.He saw me every other day, and treated my problem aggressively, as he should, to prevent permanent damage to my eye. Worst opthamologist ever. Dr. Miller treated me horribly. Belittled me, and generally nasty. Told me I could leave (after 2.5 hours) or we could go forward. She had just dilated my eyes so I was stuck staying there. After a brief look at my eyes, she said they are the same as last year. (Last year was with a nice eye group!) Dr. Miller never treated me nicely for whatever reason. She had a chip on her shoulder and took it out on me. She never offered me dark glasses to drive home since it was about 4:30 p.m. dark glasses would have helped. I had to ask the check out gal for my RX and a copy of my visit summary. Dr. Miller has a nasty demeanor about her when she decided she wanted to pick on and belittle me. My appt was 1:30 p.m. and I was finally done at 4:15. Unacceptable on all accounts. Stay away from Dr. Miller! I will pray that she likes her baby when it is born. It was shocking that she said she had no good feelings about the baby. OMG read more

Dr Kaplan is my FAVORITE doctor EVERRRRRR. I have to have several different specialists and I wish he was my specialist for everything in my eye and not just glaucoma. He's the best I've tried sooo many glaucoma specialist literally all over the country and I'm so happy I found that the best glaucoma specialist ever is based in the state I live in. I'm so grateful. I'm a self pay patient and the entire staff is so compassionate about it. They never just bill you or hit you with all these random costs like every other office I've ever been to does. In doctor's offices you usually need to sacrifice talent for human compassion or sacrifice human compassion for the talent but not here. Dr. Kaplan is a super hero super surgeon with a heart of gold. This is a terrible office. I was referred by my eye dr for possible surgery and went twice for evaluation. Both times I arrived 10 minutes early and it took over an hour after my appt time to be seen. I asked both times because I watched multiple staff walking around chatting and not working only to be told they would get to me when they could. Once they did take me I was shuffled to several different people for review and testing and put in another waiting room several times. The first visit took over 2 hours and the second one over 3 hours. I meet with Dr Sibia at the end of the first visit and he was thorough, pleasant and informative telling me I would need to return for more test which I did. At the end of the 2nd visit waiting, more testing and being shuffled around they had a female Dr Caitarnis see me. She spent a majority of the visit talking in Spanish to a worker standing at the doorway while looking and checking my eyes. I'm American and find it extremely rude when doctors don't speak English while examining you. Dr C has an especially thick accent and was difficult to understand. When I asked about seeing Dr Sibia I was told he would not be doing my surgery but she would. She finished her exam and had the worker take me to yet another person for operative info and scheduling. I asked about the cost of the elective surgery part (not covered by insurance) I had discussed with Dr sibia only to be told they were way more expensive than what he had told me at the first visit. She said he was out of touch with real world cost. At that point it had been 3.5 hrs of waiting around and being treated very poorly so I left upset. I'm not trusting my one set of eyes to an office that can't be respectful of me as a patient. You'd be crazy to trust them to be good to your eyes. I've only used this practice a few times and when I finish with the current problem I'm having I will never go back. They don't answer the phones, they don't call back and they are nasty. They had my DOB WRONG on a prescription so i couldn't get it and when I called, begging for them to call the pharmacy with the correct date I was told "what's the big deal if you wait a couple of days?" Then the next time the wrong medication was sent to the pharmacy. When I told the person he told me it was the pharmacy 's fault but there it was in my medical chart what he called in which was wrong. The receptionist wrote my next appointment on their card and wrote the wrong month. Perhaps the doctors are competent but how would I know as the entire office staff is incompetent. There is a new office manager who seems very nice and she assured me she is working on fixing all these staff issues. How can a medical practice allow staff to behave this way? Why would a new office manager be the once to get the staff to do their jobs properly? That should come from the doctors who we are trusting our eye-site to. read more

If I can give a score less than 1 star, I could have given it. My mom was seen by Dr. Sibia and she supposed to go for her cataract removal and glaucoma surgery for her blurring of vision. She was denied by her insurance company. I found out from my mom's healthcare plan that the reason for disapproval of surgery is because of a very weak clinical notes which the office should have anticipated prior to submitting the pre-authorization. The surgical coordinator, Maily was grossly incompetent that she can't troubleshoot the root cause of the problem. They did a few routine tests, then the Dr. finally saw me only to say they do not do prescriptions for my type of contacts! That was the sole purpose of my visit! I made an appointment here because this company is in my plan. Everything went well - people were friendly and accommodating. However, I was very annoyed because there was an EXTRA CHARGE of $40.00 if I wanted to get a prescription for glasses. Apparently, if your prescription changes and you need a new one, there is a charge of $40.00. This was the first time at this place, so they were no re-writing a prescription, just giving me a new one as per being a new patient. I did not expect this and I feel it is very petty and just an excuse to up charge clients. read more

I have been using Dr Ireland, now Dr Miller for a number of years since having a retina tear repaired by another DO. I find the staff friendly and very attentive to my needs. The Dr has done a great job explaining my specific vision issues and alternatives for treatment. I find I am always relaxed when leaving their offices. I've been to some shabby places, but this place takes the cake. I don't understand how they have managed to obtain so many high reviews. I was referred to the office by a patient and had to wait close to a month for my first appointment for both my wife and myself. The day before our appointment got a call from someone who didn't identify herself, telling me Dr. Rubinte couldn't make the appointment as she had to do surgery the next day. Hard to believe they only scheduled the surgery the day before, but O.K. She rescheduled both appointments for April 26, 2021. When we arrived again, I was told the Doctor was in surgery, and the clinic had no indication of our appointment, and that the Dr. doesn't come to the clinic on Mondays. Such a well run eye clinic surprised it is still in business. Looks good from the outside but lacking in one key ingredient service. I should have read the reviews prior to making an appointment. I heard a lot of people taking about the Sibia Institute and decided to try them. Booked an appointment almost a month out because that was the only way to see Dr. Sibia. The exam took 2.5 hours and it was like a factory. They did nothing more than my regular Dr. Dr. Sibia arrives after everyone else goes through their part in my eye exam, the Dr. walks in, does not even look at you and reviews his staff's work then leaves. For this I waited three weeks to see him. But the icing on the cake was that the prescription they gave me was not correct. I knew just by looking at it and had it verified by another exam. It was very different then all my scripts in the last five years. I called them to discuss this and they did not return my phone call. So judge for yourself read more

Dr Ireland is rude obnoxious conceited and scratched my cornea during Catarac surgery told me I could only have sIngle visIon lens implanted since I had lasik in the past. That was incorrect. After surgery I spent three weeks in pain 5 months with the single vision lens and blurry eyes. I went to another doctor who replaced the lens with a multifocal lens I had NO pain from day one Dr Ireland's incompetence cost me a lot of pain and suffering and a LOT of money to repair read more

I am not a patient of Dr. Sibia. I do not know him. I am writing however in defense of his refraction fee of $40 after just reading the review of Rebecca F. (I gave him 5 stars because you have to give a rating on Yelp in order to write a review). I am a retired ophthalmologist, having practiced for 30 years in New Jersey before retiring to Florida. I had found that the "refraction fee" to examine for glasses or the "contact lens fee" to update a contact lens prescription were probably the two charges most misunderstood by patients and understandably so. However the medical insurance companies (including Medicare) simply do not reimburse the doctor for these very important, necessary, and very time-consuming services. We wish they did since it would certainly make our lives much easier! In fact I think his fee of $40 is a bargain compared to what many other doctors charge. I understand that Rebecca was upset that this was not told to her on the phone prior to the visit but if the staff would be required to explain this to everyone on the phone the phones would be so tied up all day that it would be hard to make appointments. Believe me because we tried! Also, whether or not the office dispenses eyewear, the fee for the service is the same. (Some offices may subtract the refraction fee from the cost of the glasses bought in the office as an incentive to buy there but they are not required to and we never did.) read more

First let me just say that I often spend a while looking at reviews before I make a decision to see a particular doctor. I finally found an eye doctor office that would accept my insurance plan. I received a call from the office manager confirming tey took my insurance. During our conversation I made sure their place didn't sell glasses. I often find pressured into buying the glasses they sell. Which I don't if I don't like them or if there is a better offer somewhere I take the prescription and that is it. I have been doing this for years and I have never been denied or charged for my prescription. So I made arrangements for 3 and show up on time. When they are about to collect my deductible which was $112 for 3 people they continue to tell me that if I need to find out if we need new glasses I would have to pay $40 for each refraction because those are not covered by the insurance. I asked her to repeat because I have never heard of that before. I think that would be something that they needed to tell me on the phone when we spoke about taking my prescription somewhere else because they don't sell glasses there. The girl in the front was nice about it. But another girl came out and got involved basically telling me if I didn't like it I could go somewhere else. She asked me "How do you know if you need glasses? I said my kids need glasses and their eyes get worse every year which is why I'm here to make sure they get a good exam. She said "do you work for an eye doctor". People working in front office should know how to speak to customers. I was never rude. I was indeed upset that these people expect me to give them another $120 for a prescription that I always and forever have received after every eye exam. I went to the internet to check about this refraction charge and I see why some doctors charge that. But that was not the way they explained it to me. If they had told me that my insurance covered the visit but not the refraction over the phone I would have never made the appointments. So I felt like they didn't tell me on purpose trying to catch me when I got there. I wasted my day, my kids day on something that could have been avoided by a better customer service. Needless to say I was out and now making sure others know that you could absolutely get a good eye exam in many other places and you do not need to pay the refraction fee. There are places that give you a discount even if they don't take your insurance. You don't pay the refraction fee and get a great price in glasses. Sibia Eye Institute accepted the insurance but they didn't let me know until I was there that by doing so I wasn't going to be getting my prescription unless I paid $40 extra. My vision was terrible because of an illness. Dr. Sibia was very caring and informative , explaining what procedures were necessary to regain a functional and comfortable eyesight. The staff at the Sibia Eye Institute is not only excellent but so friendly that I feel they treat me like "family". I do not hesitate to call on staff when I need their help.
