I've been a patient of Dr. Clewner's for 11 years, and always think, after my yearly visits, that I really need to add a review on Yelp. Even though many fellow Yelpers utilize Yelp for identiying restaurants, I'm certain some of them get yearly eye exams, and are interested in knowing about a highly qualified, board certified ophthalmologist.
First of all, I strongly recommend that if you are over a certain age (maybe 40?), and/or have any medical condition which might affect your eyesights, eg, diabetes, you really would be negligent if you had your eyes examined by an optometrist, who really only speciaize in examining your eyes to fit for prescription glasses. So, go to a MEDICAL DOCTOR who specializes in the eye, and the diseases of the year, some of them which occur naturally with aging, such as cataracts.
Clewner is associated with Boca Raton Regional Hospital. One of his specialities is cornea and external ocular diseases. He received his medical degree at NYU, and his ophthalmology training at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in NYC. He has been in practice since the 1980's, is a well trained professional. And, I'm certain you'll like his "vibe". He doesn't rush his examinations, listens to any concerns or complaints you may have - actually proactively asks you if you have any. He is approachable, which is an important quality in physicians.
While his practice is a busy one, appointments are not difficult to get, and if you have an urgent problem, his staff will get you in to see him that day or the next. As an example, I woke up one morning about 6 months ago with one eye totally closed and swollen. It was scary, as you might expect. I did not want to assume it was simply allergies, as there was some pain associated with the swelling. His scheduler got me an appointment later that day, and the diagnosis was an infection, and I received the required prescriptions, as well as some sample medication to get me started.
So, treat your eyes as good as you treat your palate and food preferences - and only go to someone who is a professional, sensitive provider, and you'll be pleased you made that decision.
