I read his description and saw his picture and I just knew he was meant for me, you know. I called them, they sent me a form to fill and filled it honestly. They called me to set the date for the meet and great and with more addition question like, where you live? Have you lived with a big dog? Etc. I ended the call with high hopes cause everything was going amazing and I thought this was it! I'm getting a companion in my life I can care for. He was my baby on my mind already. The day of meet and greet came by which was today, went in 30 minutes early cause I was anxious, it's like having a new baby. I had everything ready for him at my home. Have been preparing ever since I got the call. I showed up and i could tell straight ahead, he wasn't going home with me. The employee didn't even want to let me through the animal shelter door. Asking question about where I live and how often I'm home. Making excuses like he's big, he's strong, he needs training, he has separation anxiety, did they let you know about that?, who did you speak to? Then after all that, they started suggesting other dogs for me. Like how insensitive are this people. A dog is a lifetime companion and you're choosing different dogs for me like it's a temporary situation for me. I'm not a fostering the dog. I connected to the dog I choose, he is the one I see in my life and they treated him like he's a chess piece to me. I said I would do whatever suggestions you want. I will hire a trainer, I will get medication for this anxiety, I would have a caretaker with him when I'm at work so he doesn't get anxious, anything and everything you tell me to give him a good life, I would do. They finally let me meet him and I was in love with him. He was so beautiful and I could just see how he would change my life. But I knew I had to leave him behind. I'm writing this review in pieces, mentally, I left the animal shelter in tears. It's like going to the hospital excepting a baby only for them to tell you it won't be happening. Coming home to all the things that you got and did for him to feel at home in your home is so heartbreaking and something I never knew I would experience like this. I am gonna try again to find my forever companion but after my experience today, I need a few months to mourn my almost baby. My advice to the animal shelter east service, please include issues and concerns of the dog on the description and what's family and living conditions works for them . I hope this review is a lesson for you guys to do better.

I've rescued dogs my whole life and knew this would be the perfect home. They do not accept emails so I set an alarm to be up and ready for their opening at 10:30 to be able to call. I get through, and the 7 million directory voices make me press a bunch of things until I finally get their *full* voicemail where it says try again later and the phone then automatically hangs up. From then on for hours the line was busy and I could not get through to even a ring. I took screenshots of all this. I got a hold of a human by noon and at this point the dog was already taken because "phones were off the hooks." I know.. I was the first caller so he would have been mine. Then that night, I see an add for another sweet dog in the West location's shelter. Perfect. I set an alarm and THE SAME THING HAPPENS. Now I lost two dogs that I would have been perfect for and kudos to the person who got through to a human because I genuinely do not know how they did it. All I can say is if your priority is rehoming the dog into a good family, the dog should not be "claimed" between 1030 to noon, without background checks and inspection. Regardless, now I'm upset because it seems like the shelter's priority is who has the quickest fingers to dial, rather than who will make a stable home for a rescue dog. I've dealt with several of their vets here, most recently Dr. Augustine, and they've all been very helpful and listened to my concerns, and responded professionally and appropriately. I originally switched since they have more reasonable prices for feline dental. Unfortunately for one of my cats, her pre-dental bloodwork led the team to conclude that she likely had cancer. They worked tirelessly to get my cat an appt at the OVC in Guelph where they were able to treat her in the short-term and get the final diagnosis. A note that they stopped accepting new clients in December. This doesn't include new pets for pre-existing clients. The staff here speak English, Cantonese, and I believe Mandarin also.

I switched to Ajax Animal Hospital and over the years there had 4 in total. All GREAT dogs and Ajax Animal Hospital was GREAT. 4.5 years ago I went back to hunting dogs and decided to try Whites Road Animal Hospital again. They were good and treated my dogs well, the clinic a little on the costly side but that was ok till last week. On a vet visit I saw this Lady vet who noticed a bad tooth on 1 of my dogs. I was surprised with all the vet visits and such I do on a regular basis that not once did they say anything before or catch the issue with tooth. This all said I was charged for a checkup $65.36 on one dog and $121.39 on the other, this was for the exact same examination both about 15min each. The vet gave an estimate to do a teeth cleaning and an estimate to do a cleaning and tooth extraction. The prices seamed very high so I googled to get an average cost and then followed up with 4 other local clinics. In 4 clinics I found that after 4.5 years of regular treatments, medications and all that they wanted to give quotes that on Cleanings was $180 to $220 higher then 4 other area vets. The dental cleaning and tooth extraction was around $800 to $1,550 higher then the 4 other local vets. These prices Whites Road wanted to charge are insane. This made me cross check on other charges they charged me on my visit last week and I found them slightly high as well. The 2 quotes was so concerning when Whites Road Vet Clinic sent an auto generated question on how my visit was I replied to these issues and sent them an e-mail. Today the main lady calls and gives a total BS story on why there was such a difference on the charge they charged me on Examination, she said they both got the premium examination but only charged for the premium on 1 dog and not the other LOL what a crock of BS, this was an insult. A 15 min examination done 100% same on the dog that had NO tooth issue was the one at $121.39. All 4 other clinics for full examination was well below this and more in line with Whites Roads $65.00 charge they had on my other dog. For the EXTREMELY high quotes after already paying high prices for 4.5 years her story was that the clinic follows guidelines and can charge / quote whatever they want and that it's only a quote LOL, $800 to $1,550 more is NOT normal I suggest everyone really look into what this clinic is charging you and how long they spend for the charges. There is a lot of GOOD vets out there that are not out for the $$$ and are MUCH more responsible and respectful on what there charging there patients. Look around and make sure your getting treated correctly and not over paying. This is all my own personal feelings from actual experiences that I have had at Whites Road Vet Clinic. Please check for yourselves.

Two of the three cats are diabetic and need insulin, one of the rabbits is blind. The service was very professional. Came by the house, did a tour, met the pets, took notes and provided a quote. The service is fully bonded and insured. We provided house keys, security access. They came in twice a day, fed the animals, game them their shots, kept the house clean, took out the garbage, got the mail, sent us status and progress emails daily, played with the pets, took care of unexpected pet 'accidents' and so much more. I can't say enough how great this service was. They were extremely reliable and allowed us to enjoy our vacation knowing our house and pets were well taken care of.

I have an older cat with diabetes and a 5 month old basset hound puppy and I have to say, with all my issues, West Hill was able to make me feel a LOT better about the condition of my pets. Since my cat had diabetes and my pooch just had her spay surgery I've spent a lot of time at West Hill and the doctors have been brilliant and so amazing with all of my questions and concerns about procedures. The doctors also personally call you to follow up on any surgeries or procedures to see how things are going. I was thrilled when I was told I was being an amazing mom and doing the right thing for my animals. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. NOT what I expected after trying to choose a vet downtown. Along with the personal factor of being at West Hill, all the employees are consistent and know your animals very well. People are often labelled by their pets names which I think is quirky and too adorable. I mean, walking into a vet and the people asking how your pets are by their first names is something you couldn't get downtown (I don't think). But the main reason I chose a vet so far away was a cost issue. I knew I was going to encounter significant costs associated with a new puppy as well as a diabetic cat and the procedures and medications are cheaper than you would get downtown.
