This is a hidden treasure. Kinda small in the inside but they have seating area outside. I have to say when you first walk up you don't know what to expect, but I have to say I'm extremely impressed! The lady was really really nice, and friendly. Right away I asked her if they had any vegan options and she was so helpful and friendly showing me what I could get. She even made sure to let me know she would cook my food separately from where the other food with meat and dairy would be prepared. I really appreciated that. For the price you pay and the portions you receive, this place is pricey (for some dishes). I don't think there's as much competition in the area. And I'm sure the prices are they way they are due to the location. You can get more meat on your plate for a cheaper price in other areas. All of our food came out hot and fresh. What we ordered/shared family style: 1) Orange Chicken w/ white rice - I haven't had this in a long time and decided to order it. The portions were pretty big (the chicken and rice). I was satisfied with this order. 2) Crying Tiger - mainly veggies and meat, which tasted like carne asada; it was a bit plain. And with the sauce, it tasted salty; I didn't like it. It was too much for the meat or didn't go with it. 3) Chicken Curry with potato - this dish was alright . They did skimp out on the meat though. But they did give a lot of rice. It would've been great if there was more chicken on the plate. 4) Lad Nah, Beef, Broccoli, and Gravy - pretty good, although it didn't have as much meat. 5) Siamese Mixed Veggies - it was alright. More flavoring would've made it tasted better though. Food was good. You can tell this was a popular local spot because there was always people in line ordering when we were there. I've been going to this place for years and the food was always excellent. It recently changed ownership. My husband and I did a takeout order a couple of nights ago and were repulsed at the food we were given by the new owners. The pad Thai was coagulated and there were lumps of rice that was old in a few of the other dishes. We tried to salvage the pad Thai in a frying pan to no avail. The egg rolls were stale. The broccoli was brown and not fresh. We couldn't stomach any of the food and ended up throwing it away. We paid more than $60 for this takeout order and were appalled the new owners would serve this kind of low quality, bad food to customers. The previous owners were amazing cooks and would never serve this kind of slop. This business won't last long if this is how they prepare and serve food. Will never go back again. read more

Pretty solid place. Their menu is pretty good size, but not as diverse as some other Thai places I've been in Irvine. The menu is a little hit or miss so far. I've had a few dishes that were outstanding (Panang Curry & pad thai) and some that were not (pork was really fatty and greasy). So you'll have to order by trial and error to figure out what the gems are. They have nice patio seating, but most people I've observed here do take out rather than eat in. So if you choose to eat in, you will probably have a lot of room to yourself. But even for a take out place, it's solid, and it's really affordable as well. read more

Appetizer - shrimp roll (6 pieces) Pad kee mao with chicken Spicy basil fried rice with chicken Shrimp with chilli paste and basil Red curry with chicken Total was $45! Bit pricey compared to bay area. Their spice level ranges from 1 to 10 unlike the usual range - mild, medium, spicy. I went with spice level 8 and should have dialed down a bit with 6 or 7, as 8 was giving sweat beads. Shrimp roll was tiny and wasn't tasty enough. Liked their spicy basil fried rice and was up to my expectation. Pad kee mao didn't have the proper flat noodle taste but was okay. Portion size was good though the box looked small. Would definitely try them again for their spicy fried rice! read more

Seen the place for years and finally decided to check this place out. Being a lover of Thai Food, some of my best friends are Thai (one who's Mom prepares food at the Wat Thai Temple in NoHo) and tend to crave Thai Food often. Problem, as many know, is there are not many places in South OC making good quality Thai Food. Some either making it as cheap as possible, others just make bad food and some try to fancy-it-up and try to charge $$$. Siamese Express is just poor quality food. Pains me to write bad reviews when A) It's close to where I live B) I always attempt to support my local businesses C) Owners/Workers seem very nice. I ordered Pad See Ew to go. It didnt take too long. Took it to the car so I could listen to the radio. Opened up the container to eat it and noticed the grease at the bottom of the container. I started to get some doubt but not like I havent had good tasting greasy food before - just not greasy Pad See Ew. I took the bite. Th mouth and stomach confirmed my initial thought: greasy bad tasting mess. If a trash can was near, would have tossed it. My kid, a foodie who will eat any noodle: opened up the container, looked at it, closed the container, tied the bag back up and asked if we could go get something to eat. His reaction pretty much summed up my experience with this place. Maybe they had a new cook, guy in the back was my peeps (Latino), wasn't anyone Thai. Pros: Pad thai Cons: Kinda pricey for fast food We were craving some thai food during our lunch hour and we ended up here. This place is located in a random shopping mall near the 73. The restaurant itself is more a fast food place than a sit down place. There are, however, some seats if you want to eat there. I ended up getting the pad thai ($7.59). A little more than pricer than I'm used to, but it's actually pretty good. The noodles were pink surprisingly, but it tasted like your standard pad thai. A few nights ago I had a sudden urge and craving for some good Thai Food so I did a Google search. I found this place and thought I would give them a try. I ordered their Yellow Curry with chicken and asked for extra chicken. I asked for brown rice to accompany the yellow curry. I also ordered some of their chicken dumplings. The Yellow Curry was overwhelmingly spicy and I can usually handle a good amount of spicy (Usually Yellow Curry is the mildest) ......the chicken was dark meat and was cut into small strips not like any other Thai restaurant I have been to, and I did not feel like it included "extra" chicken. The brown rice did not feel fresh and had dry hard chunks. The chicken dumplings were very small and lacked flavor. The reviews on this place rave about the tasty food and quantity... maybe its just another case of ordering the wrong thing. Oh and I almost forgot, upon getting my food, I asked for chili paste, the guy questioned why I would ask for chili paste and what I would have it with? Not sure what that was about....... Would I go here again? Probably not but it was worth the experience to know what restaurants exist around me. read more

I love this restaurant! Pat and her sister are the sweetest people, and they always remember me and what I like and dislike. The food is consistently great, and they have a ton of vegetarian options and customization. They even work with me when I'm eating low carb by reducing any sugar in the sauces. Their lunch deal is a steal. You get soup, salad, a wonton, a full sized entree plus thai tea or coffee for less than $10. Found this place through Yelp one night when my husband wasn't home and I didn't feel like taking my daughter, putting her in the car seat, and going to get food. I looked up delivery in Aliso and this place came up with good reviews plus the menu was on the Yelp images page. Easy, I was sold. They deliver within a 3-mile radius, very short range but we made it! On initial glance the prices were very low. I didn't look to see what Yelpers had recommended to eat here, I just went with my stomach. Got the Thai BBQ chicken (whole), the vegetable soup with chicken, and a kids chicken terryaki bowl. He said it would take 30, no 35, no 40 minutes (just like that). I said okay and forgot about it. Well an 1hr15min later he calls and says he's not sure which one is my house, I told him which cul-de-sac to pull into and that I'd come out of the cul-de-sac to the main street to see him. He pulled up a minute later - this was the owner I'm guessing - handed me my food, gave me my change, and walked away. Didn't say "goodbye", "good night", or even a "thank you". Now for the food ... Thai BBQ Chicken - I thought I was getting a whole barbecued chicken like you get at some places but this was more like cut up pieces of chicken in a bbq sauce. I didn't care for it actually. Vegetable Soup with Chicken - This was a simple, healthy, and delicious soup. It seemed like just the thing to get for when you have a cold. Kid's Chicken Terryaki Bowl - My daughter barely touched her food and since I didn't care for the BBQ chicken I thought I'd try this. It was SURPRISINGLY good. First of all, the size was perfect for me. It was fragrant, simple, and delicious. It didn't need any sauce and seemed just so healthy. I would get this any day over a Flame Boiler or any of those other places. And it cost just $3.99! I didn't care for the service but I'll just put it past them. For the convenience of delivery - even if it is over an hour later - I think the next night that I'm too lazy to leave the house, I'll try some of the dishes that the other Yelpers have suggested. read more

I was pleasantly surprised eating at this restaurant. A gentleman from Starbucks reccommended that I try this place. After walking in I was also told by a patron that he ate there about 1-2 times a week. He ordered about 5 entrees for just 2 people. He said they re-heat it after the 2nd day and it is even better than 1st. It was very busy while I ate there. Can't wait to order another dish. I love curry and they had several to choose from. The prices were more than reasonable. Next time I would eat earlier and sit outside. I also ate at the Italian restaurant next door. I went here for lunch today, as I had dropped off some prescriptions at Target and had 30 minutes to kill before they could fill them, and I was hungry! I've been craving Thai for days, and being currently sick, I figured some spicy Chicken Tom Yum soup would do the trick. I got a small bowl of that and the Pork LARB. I got 2 drinks - the Thai Iced Tea and the Sweet Palm Juice. The Chicken Tom Yum soup was very good. I would give it 4 stars - unless you mix in a spoonful each of chili paste and pepper vinegar like I did - then it gets a full 5 stars. The Pork LARB was also quite good, but the seeds made the texture a bit gritty, and the cabbage looked to be a few days past their freshness peak. 4 stars. The Thai Iced tea was your standard. Nothing remarkably good or bad - 3 stars. The Sweet Palm Juice is actually a bottled drink, but fantastic - and half the price of the tea. 4 stars Service was great! I asked the older man behind the counter (owner?) what his most popular dishes were, and he pointed them out, then I asked him what HIS favorites were, and he smiled and pointed them out. Pad Thai was on both of his lists. 5 stars. Prices seem high at first, because the place looks like a hole-in-the-wall fast food dump with bad food, but it isn't. The food here rivals any sit-down place that would charge you more. Factor everything in together I will give the prices 3 stars. The only thing really keeping this from getting 5 stars for me are the less-than-fresh cabbage and I have a hard time giving something a 5 star rating when I am sick and my taste buds may be off. This place is pretty close to home, and my wife practically lives at the Target across the street, so I know I will be back. I will update the review if things change. What to get: Tom Yum Soup Sweet Palm Juice Coconut Ice Cream Tips: - This really is a take-out place. General Consensus: This is a review for the delivery, so any comments regarding atmosphere was based on a quick look inside when I grabbed a take-out menu. This exceeded my expectations for delivery food! I ordered blind and was pleasantly surprised--thanks to the Yelper who took photos of the menu. In the two years since they were taken not much of menu has changed. :) Food: Larb--pork: Ground cooked pork with plenty of heat from chiles. It hit salty, sweet and tangy --the fish sauce, sweetness and tanginess of acid (lemon or lime?) melded together beautifully. I loved the crunchy cabbage chunks that were served with it as well--they were not bitter and also mellowed out the heat a tiny bit. Delightfully spicy. Pad Kee Mow--chicken: Spicy broad flat noodles with bean sprouts, peppers, chunks of chicken and other goodies. This was a pleasant slightly smoky taste. Noodles had a pleasant chew to them. Beef Curry with Bamboo shoots: This was a spicy yellow (?, not sure) with plenty of bamboo shoots--not the thick flat kind but the match-stick shape. It was savory and spicy. Atmosphere and Service: I ordered delivery not knowing what to expect. It took about maybe 30-40 minutes towards the end of the evening--I'm not sure if that's a normal expected time for food to be delivered for this place. It really doesn't matter because I think the owner came by and he was super friendly and delivered the food--and it was nice and warm when my husband and I ate it. I came by the actual place and it is one of those hole in the wall type places, so do not expect much out of ambiance or decor. Such a fun experience for my family and I! The owner was so very kind and talked to us while we were waiting for our food. We got the red curry (medium heat) with the mixed seafood for the meat. The curry was good and had good amounts of shrimp, scallops, squid and mussels. My husband and I shared the one serving. We also had the coconut sticky rice and mangoes. It was so good too! The only reason we couldn't go all the way to the five star rating was just because the squid was fresh, but we just weren't used to it when it isn't breaded and fried. I grabbed a take out menu one night while I was out running in the neighborhood. I told myself, "Tomorrow night is going to be a Thai Night." I ordered Thai Spicy Fried Rice, Pad Thai and Thai Curry with Potatoes. "Can you make the curry spicy and make sure it has lots of basil, please." He told me the dish was usually prepared with a medium spice and that he would add more basil for me. Thank you!! The pad thai noodle was pink in color which was slightly odd, but it was tasty. Because the fried rice was so spicy, the kids refused to eat more after their first bite. It was fine with me though. My family needs to be happy so I'll make sure I put the right spice next time I order. Comment from my wife - "Too much MSG!!" The curry was the bomb, very spicy and tasteful. The potatoes and chicken were soaked in yellow coconut curry with plenty of basil. I transferred the meal to a fancy bowl to make my dinner the best experience possible. I went in today for a late lunch around 2pm. I ordered the pad Thai with chicken (mild) and the veggie egg rolls. I got my food to go quickly, less than 10 minutes. The owners seem nice and I really want to like small businesses, but I was disappointed today and had higher hopes based on the previous reviews. The food I ordered was decent, but nothing to make me want to come back again. While I was eating my pad Thai I kept wishing that there were more vegetables and more flavor. The egg rolls were fine but nothing out of the ordinary. They do have a lunch special for $6.99, but nothing I ordered was on there. If it was, I would consider coming back. I randomly first tried this place with my mom and her friend because we were at Target and decided to get dinner together. We went into this place because it's in the same plaza. I wasn't expecting greatness. It is small and unassuming. BUT this place has the most amazing food! My favorites: -Pineapple Fried Rice -Drunken Noodles -Pad Thai -Tom Kha soup I had a favorite Thai place when I was living in Santa Cruz. The place was in San Jose and they had the best Pineapple fried rice I had ever had. That placed closed and I never had good pineapple fried rice again until I found Siamese Express! It is done perfectly here! I'm home sick and I just placed an order for delivery! I didn't know they delivered and I am overjoyed! Just what I needed! Some soup to get better quickly! I can't believe I never posted a review about this place! I love this little hole in the wall! We had Thai take out from another place closer to our house tonight and it made me miss this place so much! Next time I will drive the extra distance! We usually just get our food to go. The first time we ordered I thought there might be a mistake as I thought for sure it wasn't enough to feed Hubbie and myself, the bag was kind of small. But we were both stuffed that night and had enough for lunch for both of us the next day with the two items we ordered! Super yummy! I highly recommend them for Thai takeout.
