I always pass by here on my way to the gym hungrily always noting to myself that I should stop by (either here or the taco truck that's always parked out front). We ordered the hainan chicken, papaya salad, tom yum soup and pad thai. I can't say that anything in particular stood out to me but everything was good. I think all of the stronger Thai flavors were a little more mild compared to places that you can find in Thai town that are usually unapologetically strong, but everything was tasty! It seems like a stop and go spot that you can just grab a quick bite at and leave. This place is a hidden gem on the westside. I have yet to find another place that offers such tasty Thai food for affordable prices. I've ordered a few different curries and noodle dishes, as well as the appetizer sampler, and have never been disappointed. Today, I ordered a pad Thai with tofu. Many restaurants on the area make their pad Thai very dense, to the point it can be difficult to eat. Here, the noodles are light, with a tasty sauce, served in a very generous portion. Finding $12 entrees at any other Thai place in the area is virtually impossible and this place also gives much larger portions. Got a DoorDash order of the papaya salad and the Kai Kua. I thought the papaya salad was delicious; extremely refreshing and just spicy enough to give it the kick I expect from papaya salad. Was a bit confused me was that half of the to go box was filled with quartered pieces of cabbage. I'm not sure if I was supposed to wrap the papaya salad in it but it didn't pair the best. Forgive my ignorance if that's how it's supposed to be eaten The Kai Kuo was delicious. The flat noodles were the perfect texture of chewy and there was a good amount of beef, bean sprouts, and green onions. I wish there was a bit more flavor but it came with sriracha which it gave it the extra depth I was hoping for. I also ordered the Larb Kai which I simple adore! The spicy, tangy chili dressing with the ground chicken is heaven! I should of ordered 2 of these! I finished it in just a few minutes! Best of all was the bill, which puts this place in the single "$" category, when most other places on the Westside are "$$" or more. I tend to be pretty picky about my favorite Thai cuisine dishes, and I haven't really been able to find any place I've liked in Westwood. Despite the 3.5 star rating, Siam Chan impressed me with their incredible and authentic Thai flavors, generous portions, and very affordable prices ($10 per plate is INSANE especially for West LA). I also love how they keep the prices the same on their dine-in menu as well as their Doordash menu, and they also have their own restaurant delivery service where you can phone in your order. Siam Chan is honestly my favorite Thai place in West LA (and much better + cheaper than other hyped up places like Emporium Thai). While most other Thai places have raised their prices significantly, Siam Chan still has very reasonable prices which I am grateful for. I usually get their Pad See Ew or Pad Thai, and they're always delicious. Their portions for their Green Curry are huge as well. Disappointing. Thai food was passable, their Chinese was not. They need to stick to their Thai cuisine. I thought with their "hole-in-the-wall" appearance, that this would be the spot. Unfortunately, their hainan chicken wasn't as pictured, and instead of the delicately sliced chicken that the dish requires, I got boiled pieces of dry, cold meat that was better suited for a sauce dish. The rice was cooked well, and the soup to pair was quite nice, yet the chicken just did not provide the juiciness a hainan chicken should. Their prices are fair, and the lunch specials appear to be a favorite, but I can't get over how tasteless my favorite food was. To add insult to injury, their peanut sauce was underwhelming.
