About a year ago, I was renovating the grill above and needed to have a piece fabricated that had partially burnt out from excessive heat, barbecuing 4 to 5 hours at 250F. I brought in what was left of the piece, plus a dimensioned sketch of what I thought the profile needed to be. I met Jose' as I walked into the shop area. He listened very intently (I like that a lot in a pro) and held the piece, turning it and nodding as I explained what I thought it should be made from. Jose' said that he can make it from the sheet metal gage I had mentioned, or from stainless steel, slightly thinner, for the same price. I agreed on the stainless and he gave me a receipt with very little writing on it......but I figured, "better start trusting the guy knows what you want and how he's going to make it; insisting on doing it my way has shot me in the foot too many times." I got a call the next day. I was flabbergasted the piece could be made so quickly and Jose' must have thought I am an idiot, asking repeatedly, "really? it's done already?" The piece is fairly complex, in that it has about 9 brakes in the profile, is about 3 feet long and must fit fairly precisely. It did fit beautifully, still looks great and I'm convinced this guy does some kind of magic with metal. So I'm headed back on Monday, rusted piece in hand, figuring Jose' can fill in the rusted parts in his mind, as he fabricates it. I won't care how much writing is on my receipt when i leave so he can do his work, because I can count on going back, picking up the two pieces and they will fit in the grill's cover section perfectly. We were excited to bring it home but noticed we couldn't get it into our driveway. The bumper was to low on the driveway and was getting stuck on the cement. I called around to all the RV stores and for some reason they all recommended ABC Welding in Anaheim. Well here comes ABC Welding to our rescue. Chuck was the nicest guy, very personalable and extremely honest, he told me to replace my hitch to a lower type hitch and that might solve my problem. He could of made a quick dollar off of me but chose not to . I replaced the hitch a week later and it still got stuck on my driveway so he suggested we add caster wheels to the lower bumper to clear the driveway so I brought it back to him and he did an amazing job! A few weeks later I brought back my trailer for a hitch attachment since he did such a great job on my caster wheels. He just didnt do a hitch attachment but a work of art, literally! He changed the spare wheel attachment point directly on to the bumper to accommodate the extra steel to placed to reinforce the bumper. It went from a 30lb. Bumper rating to well over a thousand pound gorrilla rating. This new setup can probably haul another trailer or a boat, that's how strong he built it. Again it's a thing of beauty and structurely superior to other bumper setups I've seen. I can't give enough accilades about this gentlemans skills and business practice. I always deal with Pat. From the shop walks, small talk, explanation of the process or simply providing an opinion on color. Example- years ago, i walked into Embee and wanted to match the transom on a boat. David/ Pat said go with this color and said to me "If you don't like it, It'll be no charge". I ended up paying the bill. If anyone has had trouble with these guys. I highly doubt the whole truth is being told. Two sides to each story. I'm a one & done type of guy and I'm still driving 1.5 hours to get my parts taken care of.
