Triad Basement Waterproofing originally did work at our Gaithersburg home about 12 years ago. Recently, we discovered that the drain from that original system had clogged and our sump pump had also stopped working. I reached out to Triad and was honestly impressed with how quickly they responded. Within about 12 hours I had heard back from them, and Justin was at our house the following day. He replaced the bad sump pump and made sure everything was working properly. He then returned on Monday to replace the clogged drain. Justin was fantastic. What really stood out was his attention to detail. He was extremely thorough, took pride in what he was doing, and cleaned everything up so well that the area was spotless when he left. But the biggest reason I'm writing this review is that Triad stood behind basement waterproofing work they had done more than a decade ago. He did not try to 'upsell' or include items that were not necessary. Prior to work starting a timeline was provided. Timeline detailed team arriving over the course of 3 days and what to expect during this time. The Triad team - Michael, Justin and Roberto - arrived as scheduled on their assigned days. Before starting work for that day they again went over every detail of what they would be doing. Master plumber Justin Dorrier was amazing in his handling of the plumbing side of this process. His attention to detail and explanations clearly showed his professionalism and knowledge as a master plumber. My experience with Fortress Foundation Solutions was extremely disappointing…read more The project that we sought a solution for was sold to me based on Riley Ethier's, their salesman, confident assessment that my sunken concrete slab was the result of ordinary settling. That assessment mattered: both the HOA and I relied on it when negotiating who would bear the cost of the repair. When Fortress's crew actually began the work, however, their foreman encountered heavily saturated soil beneath the slab and could not complete the repair. He subsequently told me in writing that he was "almost 100% certain" the slab had sunk because reconstruction of the adjacent sidewalk had disturbed and weakened the supporting soil. In other words, Fortress's own field foreman materially contradicted the assessment upon which the contract had been based. What followed was just as troubling. I sent Riley a detailed email explaining what had occurred and asking that the work be stopped pending an internal review and an updates solution. He did not respond or even acknowledge my email. Instead, he called the HOA representative privately and left an informal message asking him to call back. Riley responded to me only after I sent a second email establishing a firm deadline. Fortress ultimately agreed to cancel the contract and refunded my deposit in full, which I appreciate. But the experience left me with no confidence in Riley's assessment or professionalism. My advice to anyone considering Fortress: make sure you understand the qualifications of the person diagnosing your problem (beyond that of a mere salesman with absolutely no qualifications ie. engineering or relevant construction, insist that the diagnosis and proposed solution be put in writing, and make certain the proposed repair addresses the underlying cause rather than merely the visible symptom.

They promised they would not break through asbestos tiles, but instead carefully lift them. They blasted right through the asbestos tiles requiring us to talk to a remediation company and do a safety clean up (though they insisted that wasn't necessary when we complained and accused us of trying to bleed them for unnecessary expenses -- we had not even asked them for a dime, and they were the ones who broke an explicit promise to us). They left open gaps in the cement after covering the french drain that we had to have addressed after they left (after confirming with this company that they would not accuse us of voiding the warranty if we did) and totally destroyed the efficacy of our radon mitigation sytem, which they said nothing to us about when inspecting the site to provide their workplan and estimate before the install. They claimed not to see it, but the radon system has bright red labels all over it and was in plain sight for both the inspection and while the guys were doing the work. Ray Charles would have seen it. So, we've had to pay more to address that. Insult to injury, our security system picked up one of their guys looking through our stuff in the basement, and when we complained about that, the owner made implicit threats about how we would ruin a relationship in which we may need them to come make repairs to our system in the future if we told anyone about it. As others have mentioned, he also offered us $100 to not post bad reviews. We didn't take the money, but others might, so careful on relying on reviews for this company. Spare yourselves. Go with someone else.

Two days later the one corner brick he replaced was good, but 3 nearby bricks cracked in half. That one stretch of grouting I wanted touched up was fixed, but new cracks formed as a result of the work completed. I messaged him 09/25 saying roughly more damage has been done than his work was supposed to fix. He asked if he could come Saturday 09/28. I said sure. It was beautiful day I would have preferred to goto the beach or something. I waited all day and afternoon and sent him messages. I didn't get a message until that evening that he wasn't going to come. Maybe he went to the beach for me! He asked if he could come Monday 09/30. I said sure, just park and do what you need. He never came just asked me what the weather was. So I took a screenshot of the weather for the next 10 days and sent to him 09/30 in the evening, then asked him on 10/03 when he would like to come.
