Pulled into this fun looking purple building because I'm a surfer and saw surf boards. Lanny came out and was happy to strike up a conversation about surfing, surf boards, his history of shaping and then take the time to chat with me about my surfing, the boards and types of waves I ride and my goals. He recommended a board he had just shaped for me to try out. I came back 2 days later and borrowed the board to give it a test run, and it performed exactly like Lanny said it would! I read all the previous reviews and was astonished! I pulled up to Shuler Surf (the purple shop), unannounced and was met at the door of the purple surf shop by the owner, Lanny Shuler. He had no idea who I was. Lanny was the most awesome, most interesting man I have spoken to. He DID NOT chase me off, DIDN'T chew my wife and I out...just very pleasant. He took us on a tour of his shop and showed us his elaborate cat trail and cat yard to protect his 5 cats! We then talked about his unique design shaping on stand up boards. Very informative. We didn't purchase one at that time, and Lanny knew we were not there to do that then. But he still took the time to help us. We are still thinking about the SUP we want, and we'll be sure to give Lanny a call! I suggest you follow him on instagram for some awesome design ideas. I did. Me and my girlfriend pulled in to what appeared to be their parking lot and we were almost immediately confronted with an asshole who told us we were trespassing so we left without entering the shop and certainly would never make a purchase at this place. This guy gives surfers a bad name do not patronize his shop. read more

Lanny built a board for me, but that's not the highlight. I had little kids with me and let them try boards that day, tour the shop etc. Great human being with a passion for helping people. One of the best shapers on the coast! read more

Excellent shaper who knows the waves and what works on them, and the artistic design on some of his boards is an added bonus without a doubt. Prices are very fair, shapes that have evolved to maximize local surf, and the quality is high. Only problem is that once you have one, you will want another, and another.... read more
