First came across this delicious shrub when ordering a mocktail at The Churchill bar in Pheonix, AZ. We then luckily saw a stall selling it at the Pheonix Farmer's Market and bought a few bottles each to take home from our vacation. The Strawberry, Basil, Peppercorn is our fave, but I would like to try the Pineapple, Ancho one if we can find it. It tastes great with and without alcohol. The blend of flavours are amazing, you actually taste each one individually yet together. A bit like tasting a Thai curry. I usually make ours this way:
Rim a mason jar with black pepper, add ice cubes and sliced lime, lemon and a few frozen strawberries. Pour the shrub over the ice and top up with diet tonic water. Add a straw and let the person drinking it mix it themselves, as you get a lovely ombre layering of the shrub and tonic until it is mixed. If you prefer to have an alcoholic version add vodka or gin! Easy peasy. And soooo delicious. read more
