I visited the Shrimp Shack on 10/26/26 and ordered a slice of carrot cake to go. Because of a nut allergy, we explicitly asked our server if the cake contained any nuts. They confidently assured us that it did not. Unfortunately, the cake absolutely contained nuts, which is a major safety hazard. When we brought this severe oversight to the manager's attention, we were brushed off and told the server was just "having an off moment." That all waitstaff knows ingredients and there's a paper listed with them in the kitchen. An "off moment" is forgetting to refill a water glass--it is not giving false safety information regarding food allergens. The lack of accountability from management is just as alarming as the mistake itself. If you have a food allergy, avoid this place. They do not take ingredient accuracy or customer safety seriously. Also, the restaurant is having new carpet put in. We were sitting in a booth that was half on laminate and half on carpet. I told the server that we knew of the refurbishment, however this particular booth is the worst simply because when people sitting on the opposite side move our attached seat would move throughout dinner and they'd probably want to stabilize it more. He asked if I've sat in every seat in the restaurant. I said no. He said how do u know it's the worst. I said "like I said I didn't know if you knew that it shifted so much." The manager spoke up and said they try not to sit anyone in it however when they are busy and it's the last table that's what you get. When we got there there were only a handful of tables taken. Plenty of others open. So the condescending tone was very off putting. It definitely rubbed us wrong, but imagine the surprise when we got home to find nuts in a cake we specifically asked what the ingredients were. I usually don't post negative comments but the attitude of the staff and the rudeness during our call when we realized the severity of their mistake is what lead me to make this post. read more

We always like the Shrimp Shack, a family-run Ft. Myers restaurant for since the 90s. It's pretty spacious, with lots of cute decorations here and there. We always get the fried green tomatoes. A simple salt-and-pepper crispy coating on firm thick sweet slices. We shared creamy flavorful New England clam chowder. We got their Neptune platter which was a very good value centered around broiled shrimp scallops and crab meat. The medium-size shrimp were a little over-cooked, but the grilled bay scallops, though small, had a lot of flavor. There were so many, that | snuck some over to the clam chowder to give it some "extra" It all tasted so fresh. We got here before the rush, and had a long pleasant meal. I was really craving shrimp scampi, and was happy to see that the Shrimp Shack carried it. However, the flavor wasn't there. The buttery sauce lacked the punch of fresh lemon and garlic. Shrimp Shack 8-27-25 Stopped by on Wednesday afternoon about 3pm. Place was not full but was clean and we got a booth right away. Jerry was our server was fast on answering any questions we had and taking our orders. We ordered a bowl of Clam Chowder for an appetizer to share. For the mains I ordered the Shrimp Lovers Platter Which has Grilled Shrimp Skewer over a bed of Yellow Rice, Shrimp Scampi, Fried Shrimp, 2 Hush Puppies and Cole Slaw. My wife ordered the Haddock Boiled with Fries and Salad. Our friend ordered a House Salad. Our Clam Clowder came out first with the Salads. The Salads looked great and tasted fresh. One thing I loved about the Salads they were cold. Our Clam Chowder was very good and packed with Clams and pipping hot. Our main orders came shortly afterwards. My Shrimp Lovers platter looked amazing. It was very good and very tasty. Even the Cole Slaw was good. I loved this platter. My wife's Haddock was very good and done just the way she liked it. Her fries were also good. All in all our food was very good, tasty and all was hot. Even Jerry checked on us filling our drinks and asking if we needed anything else. I must give this place 5 out of 5 stars for the excellent service and great food. You must put this on your stop by list you won't be sorry. I for one can't wait to get back. I have not posted a review in a while, but felt like I needed to for this one. On a sign in front of the store, it says best burger in Fort Myers.. (or used to say that). I had to give it a try. I went through the drive thru... the guy asked me how I wanted it cooked... wow.. I was pretty amazed. Got the burger.. VERY well done.. and not good... small and they give you a piece of lettuce... I would never post this, but when you beat your chest saying something is the best... you better have a good thing you are selling.. this is not. My Caesar salad was just delightful! Blackened shrimp was decent, served in a bowl with this "blackened" sauce that had no flavor. Onion rings weren't great, ironically the breading was seasoned, but fell apart. Hush puppies were obviously just filler to make the plate look more full. Haddock stuffed with crab was wonderful until the last 3 inches of the fillet had no crab and it was just flavorless fish. The fried green tomatoes were my favorite! My wife and I like Shrimp Shack for simple good seafood dishes. Recently we had lunch and the dishes were well prepared and delicious. However, the lemon wedges I requested were bottom of the barrel. I really liked Shrimp Shack. The serving size of the Lite Popcorn Shrimp was plenty and very delicious! The hush puppies were very sweet when you dip them in honey and also very delicious. The Haddock had very large chunks of fish and was plenty for me. The onion rings and the mac n' cheese that my sister ate was really tasty. She described the mac n' cheese as creamy and the onion rings as very crispy. There was a lot of tvs to watch on to entertain all of us. I really liked the fisherman theme of this place with the fish nets and the seaweed. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and came out with the food when it was exactly ready. I took my cousin and my mom there because they're the only place around that makes the **best crab cakes without mayo**, which my mom can't have. Everything looked amazing. Walking in and seeing the plates at other tables, we were already saying "wow!" For appetizers we had the mozzarella sticks, calamari, and hushpuppies.... absolutely to die for. For our meals we ordered the crab cake dinner, a fried shrimp plate, and a cheeseburger. I met my friend for lunch here. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Booth really nice and our server was very friendly. Due to my allergy that I have to mushrooms, I was unable to enjoy any coconut shrimp or any fried items like French fries. Because they fry all fried items in the same oil. My food was very good. Affordable seafood in this area. They don't have the Cajun style blackened, but they do have typical American style blackened techniques. I was visiting this place twice. Both time I got the blackened haddock. It is good pieces of fish with good half fish amount. Even though the blackened is not the spicy style but good enough. The dish come with two sides. I have the sweet potato fries, black bean, and rice. We got a bowl of clam chowder with a lot of clam meat. Soup amount is good. Our last dish is the grilled shrimp salad. The shrimp pops in your mouth, the fish is moist and delicious. The owners are usually at the restaurant and they work as hard as their staff creating a sense of pride among all the workers. I went to the Shrimp Shack to meet some friends for lunch. When I arrived, it was mildly busy and I was greeted in a friendly manner by staff and was seated in a booth per our request. There was neat fishing and island decor on the walls, which was cool. Also, nice setup of restaurant with various seating. When our server came to our table, she was very outgoing and fun. One of the people in our group had allergies to declare, and our server was very nice and helpful with helping them order food.
