We discovered this little local gem whilst staying nearby in Hounslow. After walking up and down the High Street to find some place for lunch, we still hadn't found anything that caught our eye until we came across this restaurant unexpectedly. Although it looks simple and unassuming from the outside, do not be fooled as the food is great.
It is a South Indian fast food place, and they do both takeout and eat-in. The place itself is small and no frills, and you may have to share a table with others because they do get very busy and have limited seating. However, I did not find that to be a very big deal. I think the fact that it was packed with locals speaks to how good the food is. You also need to go up to the counter and order your food prior to sitting down, as they do not take orders at the tables.
In terms of the food itself, it was fresh, piping hot and delicious. The food is all vegetarian. We had the cheese and schezuan vada pav, which were both delicious potato burgers in a bun. The cheese one was particularly delicious and melt in your mouth cheesy goodness. For those who love lots of thick cheese, like me, it did not disappoint. We also had the channa, which is chick pea currey and it was flavourful without being too thick or oily. It came with fresh parathas which were warm and hearty. We had the chilli paneer which was probably our least favourite dish as the sauce wasn't think enough and not enough spices, but still good. I also had the mango lassi as well as the chai, and both were well flavoured and appointed.
It's not really the type of place to go for a formal sit down, but more for a quick bite to eat in an informal setting. The food is fresh and delicious, and it is good value for the price.
We liked this place so much that we came back a second time before the end of our trip. Definitely recommend! read more
