Without knowing or meeting him he immediately set up an appointment to see the job through my tenant. After the site visit he prepared a detailed proposal, which looked like he was familiar with the scope of work I needed. He did this almost contactless with my tenant, which I appreciated in this era of Covid. We reviewed the written proposal over the phone, came to a meeting of the minds really fast. My tenant was moving out in 2 weeks so he agreed to start the work the day they moved. I needed quick turnaround so I could re-rent the property. All the time I was long distance, never meeting him and he completed the work (replaced sill plates) in 3 days.i met Rick 2 days after he finished the work. I was pleasantly surprised, he executed the work exactly as the proposal stated. Prices were very reasonable. Timing was better than I would have expected. Rick Miller, owner of RDM Construction, was very courteous and knowledgeable. Rick dealt with the pricing and estimates himself and came by the project fairly often. He did have a construction manager on site that did a lot of the day to day operation and work. Rick's crew worked hard and seemed very trustworthy. We had some minor issues arise on occasion and Rick attempted to rectify them at minimal cost. Rick is a solid contractor to hire. All-in-all, RDM is a good "bulk" construction company. In other words, from my experience, they seem to do things like foundation work, framing, and stucco very well. Where they lacked a bit on my project was the finite details. PRO's Honest and trustworthy Does well with "bulk" contruction Always answered my calls promptly Lower cost price than the competitors CON's Finished work not always as detailed as it could have been Did not initiate contact regularly Was a bit over the time frame we had agreed to (though to be fair, some of this was weather related.) We had to wait because the flooring people were out of the tile because they didn't order it as they said. The same thing happened with the shower walls they were out of the color we wanted. Do not trust them. They said 2 weeks from start to finish it was 90+ days. I knew 2 weeks was wrong but thought it would be quicker then over 90 days. So many issues I can't even list them all. Roof was 30 years old and was rapidly deteriorating. Spenser came out and with his firm handshake alone, assured me of his confident competence. He alone among the other seven roofing salesman I had interviewed for the job seemed to immediately grasp the scope of the work and gave me a fair and thorough estimate with no guesswork. Although his wasn't the lowest estimate, it wasn't the highest by far. And by far I mean, thousands. Two of the companies I called seemed to give me the price they give when they don't want the job. They were 3 and 4 thousand higher than the reasonable bids I received. But Rhynehart's bid generated by Spenser was the only one that seemed to truly cover the circumstances of the job. They came and did the roof earlier than promised, and did an amazing job. They were on it early in the morning and finished around 4 that afternoon. The experience and skill of the crew was obvious - this wasn't their first rodeo by far. They quickly and efficiently tore off my old roof and replaced 16 sheets of OSB decking material, all of the roof vents and did the plumbing pipes. And roofed the house with spectacular "Black Oak" shingles from Malarkey. They used black, 2x2 drip-edge metal which really sets off the black roof and makes it look really thick. I can't say enough about the way this new roof pops. They meticulously cleaned up after themselves, leaving no debris, nails, fasteners, roof pieces old or new, or any other evidence of their work. It was a clean and excellent job and I am confident that when the rains come none of it will enter my home. (EDIT to add: A week later, the rains came. 4.2 inches over 4 days. NO leaks.) The entire crew and their foreman were courteous, quiet and efficient. There wasn't any yelling, loud music blasting from vehicles or boom boxes, or any cursing or swear words.
