5/1/2018 - I was invited by a friend, a member of Showdown, for a fun, free workout. If you drive too fast on Stirling you may miss it. There was a sign pointing to the end of a parking lot that ended at the location of Showdown. Our group of friends arrived around 6:15pm for a 6:30pm class. You walk in through turf to get to the box (gym/facility). We immediately were greeted by doggies. The owner Joey welcomed us and asked that we sign-in to the system. After putting our things away, getting our waters, we were ready. Coach Kat asked that we meet her out on the turf. We did a few warm up drills before getting ready for the skill portion. The skill was 5 rounds of DU's (double-unders, jump rope twice in one jump), 30 seconds jump and 30 seconds rest. I would say we were warmed up to start the WOD (workout of the day). There were approximately 12-15 people so Coach Kat asked that we got into Team of 2 since they didn't have enough equipment required in the WOD for all of us to use individually. WOD: Plenty of Gas in the Tank (Time) 4 Rounds 200m Run 20 Wall Balls 15 Burpees 10L 10R Dumbbell Power Snatches 35/25 5 Overhead Squats 115/75 200m Row Great workout! I have been to other facilities and other workout places and I've always found in this type of setting that people get introduced as first timers or people come up to you to talk, to make you feel welcomed. I didn't feel that here. Maybe because we were already in a group, I don't know. Overall, nice big facility, plenty of parking, and lots of cute doggies! Go check them out!

    At a meltdown class

I have been part of the Showdown family for about three years. I have included the meltdown class into my schedule as well. Both classes offer friendships/support with other athletes and knowledgeable coaches who know just how to push each person to the best of their personal ability. I know the word Crossfit scares some people, but this place welcomes you with open arms, nothing scary here. Everything can be scaled to what you can do and there is no judgement if you can't do something...yet...or ever. See you there!

    Complementary yoga weekly ‍

Love my gym! I've been going to Showdown for over a year now. I started at meltdown and loved it but wanted something more challenging so I switched over to the CrossFit side! The coaches are super helpful and approachable. Always willing to help explain something again or show you how to do the movement correctly. Everyone is really friendly and the workouts always make you feel great leaving the gym! They also have complementary yoga once a week which is awesome. I highly suggest checking them out!

I started Crossfit in Nevada 4 years ago. I recently moved to FL for work and have been in search for the perfect Crossfit gym for me. One can never use enough input from their CF coaches on ways to improve form and ways to improve their fitness level in general, and Joey Morgenstern is awesome at doing just that! What I particularly liked is that the classes at CF Showdown are both challenging for a seasoned Crossfitter, yet tailored to accommodate any fitness level should I want to bring my first-timer friends in with me. There is nothing better at a CF gym than to be encouraged to keep going, be stronger or faster and not give up, and this is what I got from CF Showdown on my very first day there.

The actual decor is very cool and the inside has UV light that makes everything look neon. The classes themselves are good, but very fast paced. They don't really give you enough time to switch or to grab weights. I like that there are reminders projected on the wall for what you need to do. It's also very dark in there which is I think is dangerous because someone could easily trip over something and hurt themselves.

Not a beginner friendly class. Not told about lockers, what to expect or even given numbers (spots). Arrived plenty early but felt completed confused once the class started. They were quick to charge for the gloves and overpriced wraps but not give any instruction. The teacher uses a loud intercom mic in an absurdly dark classroom facing the wall so you can't understand what the moves are. Music is also loud and completely over stimulating. Left to go cry in the bathroom then left. Nobody said anything or asked why we left. - Owner responded to my google review weeks later and claimed they didn't ask why I left because I had come unprepared to begin with (a false claim since I was there thirty minutes early with email proof of check in) Their classpass review tells me they hope I took a nice selfie after reading I cried in the bathroom - shows how much empathy they have for their clientele.

I've become the strongest and leanest that I've ever been with what feels like minimal effort. It's "hard" at first but after two classes it becomes very "easy" on the body and helps build your mental strength which dominoes into other areas of life. I love that each set is slow paced but the sets themselves move very fast, a great cadence for people who get bored easily. I've worked out with Sean Perry (the owner), Christopher Push, and Dorian Nicholson. Sean is very attentive and kind and is great for total body and abs. Christopher will absolutely push you to your limits in the best way, you will leave his workouts feeling accomplished and brand new. Dorian is great for beginners and very informative and energetic! I also love the price point for this location. It's about $100 a month for 5 classes, which I attended weekly. So far, the most affordable in the area. I'd walk or jog there to and from Brickell, which is about a 3 miles or so and would get my 10k steps in for the day via the travel. There is also free parking in the back if you decide to drive. I would definitely recommend this place because of the cool staff and the cool small businesses they support inside (seamoss, fresh juices, jewelry, art etc). Overall 10/10
