It is not about achievements or sport in general, it is about inspiration to be successful in life. The teachers in the Santa Clara school are amazing and dedicated, supportive, and strict when it is needed. Highly recommend! If you are serious and want to learn, and do not seek a quick result. What I really liked about this gym was the variety of classes they offer. You can try different types of workouts and figure out what you enjoy without having to commit right away. They also let you borrow gloves and other equipment for free during the trial classes, which I thought was a really nice touch. I ended up trying the HIIT and DEKA classes, which were my favorites, and most of the coaches I had were really great. Unfortunately, my experience with one of the kickboxing classes wasn't as good. I specifically asked multiple times beforehand if it was okay that I was a complete beginner, and I was told that it was totally fine. However, when I showed up, pretty much everyone else already knew what they were doing, so I naturally felt a little intimidated. I also wasn't given much guidance despite being a first-timer. What really bothered me was that the coach called me "silly" when I wasn't able to follow the instructions. I understand that a fast-paced class can be challenging for beginners, but I didn't think making fun of someone who was trying something for the first time was appropriate, and it definitely put a damper on the experience. One other thing I wish they had was a proper locker room or changing area. They have gender-neutral bathrooms, but they didn't feel clean or comfortable enough to change clothes in, especially if you're coming straight from work. I really liked the variety of classes and the generous trial period, and most of my experiences with the coaches were positive. I just wish the beginner experience was a little more welcoming and that they had a better space for changing.

I didn't have the opportunity to do it while I was young though I was always a fan watching it on the Olympics. Judo improved quality of life for me in the Bay Area and continues to improve my physical and mental health. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly here. We all help each other learn and improve our techniques with sensei's expert teaching style. If you are thinking about joining and learning judo, just do it and give it a try. All ages are welcome and there is option to observe and do a trial class. See you on the mat! I recently went on the annual Japanese judo tour and it was an incredible experience getting to observe and train at top universities in Japan and at the Kodokan, the birthplace of judo. It was an incredible privilege to see and learn from famous judoka guests at the different world class universities and Kodokan, like Joshiro Maruyama, Ryunosuke Haga, Takeshi Sasaki, Ken Oyoshii, Keiji Suzuki, Michihiro Omigawa, and Ashida Shoki (Assy Judo), just to name a few.. There were so many judo stars during the judo trip and they are great examples as human beings too. The trip that sensei Nakano leads is a great opportunity to meet judoka from Japan and around the world, as well as experience Japanese culture and food. You won't find this kind of experience elsewhere. Sensei Nakano also has a youtube channel, where you can refresh on the techniques you learned and a few watch lot of judo content. Guests come from Japan and around the world to teach or train, so it's a great opportunity to connect with others this way too.

I do agree that it's good to warm up before starting classes but I feel that there might be too much time running back-and-forth. Occasionally it feels like a way to keep us busy while they are speaking to other people. We've had a couple classes with Beth, she is very nice and patient with the little ones. Travis was our main coach for a few months and I can tell the older kids work better with him. They only have beginner and advanced classes. It would be nice to have an intermediate class as well. I think in general more classes would be helpful as you cannot graduate to certain belts unless you are taking two classes a week. We signed up for a year and will plan to continue for as long as possible. I do recommend this place. * updated to add that now that school has started, they just brought in another trainer (Shlomi) to teach the older kids since the class size has doubled. My experience with their kids' program has been nothing short of exceptional, hats off to the incredible instructor, Travis! From day one, it was evident that Travis was not only highly skilled in Krav Maga but also knew the knack of teaching and working with children. Whether a child was struggling with a technique or excelling at it, Travis was present very watchfully, providing guidance, support, and positive reinforcement. One of the things that stood out to me the most was Travis's ability to create a supportive and encouraging environment for the kids. Moreover, he has a unique talent for breaking down complex techniques into simple, easy-to-understand steps, making it accessible and observable for children of all skill levels. What stood out to me in particular was his own values, principles and attitude which in my opinion are of paramount importance especially while teaching life skills to others. Beyond his technical expertise, Travis also instilled important values such as team work, discipline, respect, and self-confidence in the children. Through his teaching, my child not only gained valuable self-defense skills but also developed a sense of empowerment and self-assurance that extends beyond the mat. Beth, who is also an instructor and helps with the front desk, is extremely patient and helpful with any questions and a great teacher herself from the classes I've observed! If you're considering enrolling your child in Krav Maga classes, look no further than Krav Zone!

They do all this safely, requiring health questionnaires and temperature checks prior to class.
