C has been coming to Pandas Karate for a few months now and absolutely loves it. He started the…read morePre-Karate program (2.5-3 years old) a week before he turned 2.5yo. The first class was free, which was nice because C just observed from the side lines for the first 20 minutes of class until the moon bounce came out (what toddler would pass this up?!). Since C didn't really participate his first class, Ms. Susan (one of the owners) was kind enough to let him try the class again the following week free of charge. This time around, C participated and really enjoyed it. The Pre-Karate class is once a week in the early evening. The class is broken up into three parts, which I like since the attention span of a toddler is quite short. Each class begins with a short story followed by stretching while counting to 10 in Korean. Then they move onto practicing their karate skills/technique, which generally consists of stance, blocking, punching, and kicking. The last part of the class consists of a sport or game with the theme changing each month. On the last class of the month, they bring out the moon bounce. At the end of class, everyone gets a sticker. The owners, Mr. Daniel and Ms. Susan, are both fantastic. They are extremely kind and really good with children. You could tell they enjoy their jobs a lot. They both have a lot of patience, especially with the little ones. The other instructors (C has worked with Ms. Stephanie and Mr. Peter) are good as well. Besides having great, caring instructors, another thing I liked about Pandas Karate was the fact that you didn't have to sign a long term contract. Payments are monthly, with a slight discount (and free uniform) if you sign a four month contract. Pandas Karate not only teaches Karate, it also enhances listening skills, teaches manners, and can enhance one's self confidence. I highly recommend checking Pandas out!

Here's my experience: Due to my return to the office and long commute, our schedule no longer allows us to attend. On top of this, my husband's schedule has changed, and we are no longer able to take our kids to class. When we informed Master Kim of our situation and requested to withdraw, we were told we were still obligated to pay for the remaining two years of our contract. I asked about keeping one child enrolled (thinking a friend can drop her off and stay) but was met with unreasonable terms. Essentially, once you sign their contract, you're locked in, no matter what life changes occur. If you need to cancel, expect to continue paying until the contract term ends. It's unrealistic for us to continue, given our new schedules, yet Master Kim insists we pay even though we can no longer attend. It's been two months since we last went, and they're still billing us. In short: stay away from this company. They're inflexible, and you may end up paying for services you can no longer use/ attend.

It is a…read morefederal-registered non-profit organization whose mission is to promote Tai Chi Chuan and help members improve their health and learn an ancient martial art in its pure form. The Hwa-Fu chapter of ITCA includes Cheng Man Ching's 37 form, Yang's long form, sword, push hand, san shou, and joint exercise. Members meet at Wootton High School on Sundays, 1:30 to 3:30 pm, from September through Memorial Day. There is also a summer camp. Hwa-Fu's membership fee is very inexpensive, $45 for one semester (September to January). All of the instructors and support staff are volunteers, receiving no compensation. The instructors are dedicated to passing on the knowledge of the late Master Tang. Membership is open to the public and all are welcome. Experience in Tai Chi Chuan is not required. Tai Chi is an excellent form of exercise for everyone, particularly seniors. For those interested in studying an ancient martial art, Tai Chi offers significant benefits and applications. The head instructor took special attention to individuals and trained them in a way that fostered positive growth. There was always a focus on effective self-defense and very little of the "dance" moves that make other martial arts training less effective. The style taught here is Thai-Shan-Pai and from my experience, it is highly effective for anyone to use against an aggressor. I couldn't recommend this school enough and we still be going here if I lived in MD. If your looking for solid training, regardless of age, sex, or size this is the place.
