For just 1.50 and free parking you may leave the car in Newburgh side, take the ferry. It takes less than 15 mins to get to the other side of the bridge, directly stopping at the Beacon train station. The route: Start by walking under the Beacon train station to the parking lot. Take the stairs up to this mini park and hang a left there. Keep following that route until you reach the main entrance to the bridge. Ensure to stay on your left, as it hooks to the bridge on left. There's not much crossing the road. Maybe, some parking lots here and there but that's about it. For your safety, always be aware of your surroundings for cars as they drive b fairly fast. This is a about a mile to the bridge. On the bridge, it made me nervous. I couldn't help but look down to the river. You are running on a metal plates all the way through. This is very sturdy although, the shaking could be unnerving. Next time, I will take a bag with me. Across the bridge is about 2 miles, keep following the trail to exit the bridge and will take you directly on the road to Leroy Drive. This road doesn't have a pedestrian walk way but fairly safe other wise. Along this route, there are some homes that are historical to Newburgh. This road is another mile to get to the port or docking station. Don't forget to stop in to take a pic or have a beer. Some restaurants here have the view overlooking the bridge. Key note: Please be careful when parking your cars on the parking lot. Although, there's immense foot traffic, stay within those hours when the area is busy in Newburgh. Another safe way to do it is to park your car in Beacon lot, free on weekends. Take the ferry to Newburgh and run from there (opposite to what I did). On Saturdays, Beacon train station has a Farmer's market. It's very small but worth checking with free bands playing.

With the new congestion pricing going into effect January 2025 to drive anywhere below 60th street, this is a great option because public transit is where you will save money, thus what is being encouraged by the congestive pricing. I live in Goshen NY. To take the coach bus from as Goshen or Central Valley is $45 round trip, so its just worth it to drive the little extra distance here to save some money on the trip. On the way back you will be dropped off on the northbound side and you just have to cross over 17 using the pedestrian bridge to get back to your car. Also, the parking here is free, in case anyone is wondering. I think in the past you had to pay for parking prior to covid, as I saw some old reviews on yelp that said you had to pay for parking, which is no longer the case. I highly recommend this location.

Well, this one is actually clean, and I didn't see any illegal activity during my last visit to the bus station, which was a couple of days ago. The people staffing the windows are reasonably courteous. And here's the really great thing about this bus station: they take credit cards! No kidding. No. Would I hang out at this place just for laughs? No. It's a bus station. You get in and get out. It serves that purpose.

On the train it was funny to see them punch our tickets, it was so old-school. The conductor was very friendly and the train was quite clean. Overall a good experience. My only disappointment was on the ride home, some kids snuck on the train and sat in a couple open seats where tickets had already been punched. They only rode for a couple of stops, but it was still quite dishonest. I feel like there should be a protocol for riders to take their tickets as they leave to keep this from being able to occur.
