Yes and yes. It might not be the red carpet but sure beats the price. The plan to run…read moreBeacon/Newburgh bridge was the best decision and daring one. For just 1.50 and free parking you may leave the car in Newburgh side, take the ferry. It takes less than 15 mins to get to the other side of the bridge, directly stopping at the Beacon train station. The route: Start by walking under the Beacon train station to the parking lot. Take the stairs up to this mini park and hang a left there. Keep following that route until you reach the main entrance to the bridge. Ensure to stay on your left, as it hooks to the bridge on left. There's not much crossing the road. Maybe, some parking lots here and there but that's about it. For your safety, always be aware of your surroundings for cars as they drive b fairly fast. This is a about a mile to the bridge. On the bridge, it made me nervous. I couldn't help but look down to the river. You are running on a metal plates all the way through. This is very sturdy although, the shaking could be unnerving. Next time, I will take a bag with me. Across the bridge is about 2 miles, keep following the trail to exit the bridge and will take you directly on the road to Leroy Drive. This road doesn't have a pedestrian walk way but fairly safe other wise. Along this route, there are some homes that are historical to Newburgh. This road is another mile to get to the port or docking station. Don't forget to stop in to take a pic or have a beer. Some restaurants here have the view overlooking the bridge. Key note: Please be careful when parking your cars on the parking lot. Although, there's immense foot traffic, stay within those hours when the area is busy in Newburgh. Another safe way to do it is to park your car in Beacon lot, free on weekends. Take the ferry to Newburgh and run from there (opposite to what I did). On Saturdays, Beacon train station has a Farmer's market. It's very small but worth checking with free bands playing.

Yes I'm a fan of the ferry, but really wish it ran on weekends. If you wish it did it too,…read morecall/write the MTA (they run it) and request it. If they get enough requests and realize there's a need for it, they might implement a weekend schedule.

I can assure you that I will always make having transportation a priority It's bad enough that we are forced to commute with people who may have mental health challenges but the customer service from the bus drivers is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. Many of these bus drivers, especially the African Americans, have very unpleasant attitudes. No customer should be exposed to such inhumane service, These individuals need to be retrained on how to interact with the public or be terminated. Additionally, Bee-Line should also inform their workers that there are various ways people communicate, not just verbally. And, body languages speak volumes. The fact that we are paying these individuals to work for us is the reason why patrons deserve to be treated with respect. To be continued!

A Serious Safety Concern…read more This is now the third time Syndicate Cab has put me and my family in a dangerous situation, and I feel it needs to be reported. Unfortunately, there aren't many taxi companies in Middletown. There is another company I use faithfully because they have always been reliable, but they close after 6:00 p.m., leaving us with no choice but to use Syndicate when we need transportation. On Friday night, my two daughters, ages 15 and 12, went to the movies with friends. Their friends live on the opposite side of town, so my girls needed a cab to come home. When the movie ended, they called me from outside Target. I immediately called Syndicate Cab, gave the dispatcher their exact location and destination, and, as always, ended the call by thanking her and wishing her a blessed day. About 20 minutes later, my daughters called and said no one had arrived. Just as I was about to call the company back, a driver called me from 845-798-4224 and said he would be there shortly. I called my daughters and told them the driver said he was coming. Another 15 minutes passed. I texted my girls asking if they were in the cab yet. They replied, "No, Mommy. Where are they? My phone is about to die." I noticed I had missed a call from the driver just a couple of minutes earlier, so I immediately called him back. I asked where he was, and he replied, "I'll be there in two minutes." He then asked me how many passengers there were. That immediately concerned me because I had already given that information to the dispatcher. At this point, I started having anxiety because of the previous experiences I had with this company. The difference this time was that I wasn't with my daughters. They were alone, it was getting dark, and I was trying not to panic. I called the company again, and the dispatcher, who has always been kind and helpful, told me she would send another cab. That gave me some relief. But then an entire hour passed. My daughters called me scared and crying. Their phone battery was down to 3%, and no cab had arrived. I called Syndicate back, and the dispatcher put the manager on the phone. Instead of helping, he became rude and told me they had no cabs available. As a mother, my heart dropped. I asked, "My two young daughters have been waiting outside in the dark for over an hour. Why would you wait until now to tell me there are no cabs available?" He simply hung up on me. I was in tears. I had no idea how I was going to get my daughters home safely. Then I remembered I had an old business card in my wallet for Orange County Service. I called them, explained everything that had happened, and, thank God, they immediately helped us. Within 20 minutes, my daughters were safely home. I thanked the driver repeatedly and gave him a $20 tip. It was all I could afford, but he deserved every bit of it. Sadly, this isn't the only serious issue I've experienced with Syndicate. On another occasion, while I was riding home from work, the driver stopped to pick up another passenger at the hospital. That passenger had a bowel accident in the cab, leaving feces on the seat next to me and creating an unbearable odor. I couldn't believe I was expected to continue riding in those conditions. After three separate incidents, I can no longer stay silent. This company has shown a complete lack of concern for the safety, communication, and well being of its passengers. Leaving two young girls stranded in the dark for over an hour, only to say no cabs were available and then hang up on a frightened mother, is completely unacceptable. People depend on taxi companies for safe transportation. I sincerely hope this review encourages people to remove  this company from its service and prevents another family from going through what mine experienced.
