Great cottage stay in Val Des Monts. Super beautiful view with hot tub. Fyi on airbnb this company has thousands of 5 star reviews

Very disappointed with this service. I rented a house from them for May 2025. But they are not reliable and decided to cancel my reservation unilaterally. Unfair - if they were really focused on client services, they would have honoured the reservation and made their desired changes after May 2025. read more

We stayed at 284 flora Street in Ottawa and found it to be beyond dirty. Dirty carpet leading to the suite ...it looked like vomit caked into it. Inside the suite was a used tissue left behind on a dresser, a food wrapper on the floor by the bedroom closet, puzzle pieces on the rug in the living area...rug looked dirty. The bedroom blanket had stains on it and there was a sheet covering it. Under the blanket there was nothing bewteen me and it and it smelled dirty. No fresh supply of bedding anywhere. Dusty room to top it off. I had to sleep on an armchair. there was one paper towel roll and one toilet roll. I left messages with management but no rely read more

Booked a flat with them a month ago. They canceled with no reason 1 week before our trip, didn't try to find us an alternative even though they have plenty of free other rental in the area. Doesn't seem to give a sh*t about us. Don't waste your time read more

Rented a cottage for ~1 week. The cottage was very run down, not clean, and missing many things as advertised in the description on Airbnb. There was also more than 1 safety concern. This property management company does not actually seem to do any sort of managing or require owners to maintain their properties. DO NOT RENT FROM OR HIRE this company. This company did absolutely nothing to remedy the situation and provided very poor customer support. We were met with a phone call from Genevieve where she did nothing to answer our specific questions/concerns. She just stated that we seemed frustrated, continued to ignore our questions (spoke like a politician), offered no real solution other than we were told we should just go home and be refunded out remaining days - there was 0 de-escalation or attempt to help from the company. Leaving and being refunded the remaining days would be fine - but what about some compensation for the days we DID stay and pay full price for? That isn't fair. Driving 6 hours to a rental that WASN'T AS ADVERTISED is such a let down. We can't help but notice that all the photos are extremely outdated (mostly from various Real Estate listings over the years). For example, one of our complaints was that the hot tub was being powered by an extension cord that was fraying with exposed wires. Genevieve never offered to have the cord replaced or provide financial compensation for an unsafe hot tub. Instead, she told us this was a "plug and play" tub and implied this was fine. Exposed wires? How can that be fine? The issue wasn't the extension cord, the issue was that the cord has exposed wires. We also provided photos and explanations of all of our concerns. She did nothing to validate these concerns. The biggest issue we were facing with our rental was financial. The analogy I had to provide to better explain the situation was that: You went to a restaurant and ordered a steak, but your server came out and gave you a chicken breast. Could you imagine if you told the server "hey, I actually ordered a steak as pictured on the menu" and your server responded with "You seem frustrated. You should just leave. But you're still expected to pay for the steak." rather than "I am so sorry, let me see what we can do to help you". She was rude, unfriendly, and acted like we were in the wrong for renting this cottage. She implied that the issues we saw were our own fault and from a lack of understanding about the type of rental this was. She told us this "isn't a luxury cottage" and that those start at "$700+ per night". This has nothing to do with that. We were paying $528 per night for a cottage that wasn't AS ADVERTISED. There's a good chance we still would have rented this place if the advertisement was a updated/honest with what is actually here in terms of quality and amenities (and the price reflected the actual value of the unit). The unit not matching the listing is pretty scummy and fraudulent. read more

BEWARE! Worst renting experience ever! Absolutely arrogant, rude, smug, and unhelpful hosts. Do not hire or rent from this company. The cottage seemed good at first, but a couple days in, a rainstorm came through and took out the power as well as all water supply (since the cottage was on well water). When we contacted the hosts, they said, "let's see how it is tomorrow", basically telling us to stay the night and wait it out. No solutions were offered. Every neighbor in the area had generators running, so we asked if the cottage had a backup generator, (why wouldn't an organized management company not have logically invested in a back-up generator out in the woods when all the neighbors have one, right?) They didn't. We asked if someone in the area was delegated to help, and if they could bring us a portable generator. They didn't. They never checked in on us. We had to reach out every time. Every answer was "it's supposed to be back on by 3pm", "sorry for the inconvenience", "let's check back in the morning". At one point, they told us we could just leave, but wouldn't offer us compensation. Fridge and freezer started to get warm, couldn't wash our hands, couldn't shower, couldn't flush the toilet. We literally had to go to the bathroom out in the grass/woods. Absolutely disgusting! If someone did use the toilet, one of us would have to trek down and back up a long, steep, muddy, slippery hill (about 150ft each way), with 5 gallon pails of water to pour it down the toilet. We did the same with jugs of water to wash our hands. We told them all of this and they couldn't have cared less. We reached out one last time, to send them photos of the issues we'd encountered, as well as request a refund. Since we had "decided to stay" we wouldn't be compensated, even though they kept insisting that we "wait till the morning". We had no choice but to reach out to airbnb to resolve the issue. When we plainly stated, "we contacted airbnb", their smug response was, " we'll speak with airbnb :) " I don't know how these two still have jobs (we seemed to be talking to "Gen" most of the time.) To top it off, they asked us to "prime the water pump" to try to fix it before the next guests arrived. Do these people know what's involved in priming a well pump? That is not the job of a guest. Airbnb was super helpful. The hosts of "Short and Suite" on the other hand; no business skills whatsoever, no people skills, absolute lack of common sense, arrogant, and incompetent. How is this a management company? Stay away. read more

Rented a unit from them for two weeks. On arrival found that there were multiple issues with the unit not matching the listing. Called and texted them multiple times and none of the issues were resolved. To top it off, the guests upstairs are gymnasts practicing their tumbling routines. read more
