My whole family have been coming here for over a decade. Rick and Jan are great! It is hands down the best resort on the Chetek chain. First, it is in downtown Chetek. You can walk across the street to Red's (great bar and grill). My mom loves to take the kids to the gas station to get fresh donuts, and there's even a German breakfast place close by that's fantastic. The resort itself is well maintained. Everything is paved and well maintained. The grass is green and there's a wonderful fire pit pavilion in the center where you can have a fire and they even host an ice-cream social there on Wednesday evening (the kids love it). The cabins themselves are very clean and in good repair. We have been to a lot of different resorts in the area over the years and one of the things that makes this place stand out is its cleanliness. Also, they are always improving. The cabins come with cable and free wifi and you can get A/C as well if you want it. Now, to the fishing. You can rent pontoons for a week at a very reasonable rate. In addition, the dock offers great night fishing as it's in one of the best locations on the chain (deepest lake in the chain right by the largest sand bar). Basically, it's right where the fish are. It offers great crappie and bluegill fishing and Rick can even tell you how to find the walleyes. Overall, I can't say enough good things about the resort. It is by far the best one in Chetek, and our family will happily keep returning. Don't wait too long though, there are several people (us included) who reserve a cabin every year (we're up to 2 now) for a week and Rick and Jan will run out eventually. read more

My husband and I have been going to Shorewood for the past 10 years, we love it. Jan and Rick are great. They are constantly working to update and maintain Shorewood. My family used to come up to Shorewood when I was a child (long before Jan and Rick were the hosts). When my husband and I first started coming back, I was pleasantly surprised by all the updates they had made to the resort. We bring our two dogs with us and Jan and Rick always make them and us feel welcome. The resort grounds are beautiful with a lovely garden area, numerous wood carvings done by Rick throughout the grounds. The grounds and cabins are clean and well maintained. On Wednesday evenings Rick and Jan host an Ice cream social and everyone is invited. This is a great way to get to know fellow vacationers. There is a bait shop on site. A dock where you can fish from. Poontoon rentals by the day or week. Rick always a good source of information as to where the fish are biting. Fish house on site to clean the catch of the day. Beautiful new decks to catch sunrise, or sunset or to just relax. The city beach is a short walk from the resort. Chetek dog park also nearby so the pups can run around off leash. We absolutely love staying at Shorewood Resort!!! We have stayed there for quite a few years now and already have our July trip reserved this year too. We are even planning on staying an extra week in the fall as well. Rick and Jan are more than accommodating with anything you might need or have questions about. The resort is always clean and well kept. The landscaping and lawn care is top notch and you can tell they take pride in what they do. The location is by far the best on the lake! Fishing is always good, even right off the dock. There are rules, as there should be, you just have to follow them. This is their livelihood and deserves respect. The bad reviews are just one person's opinion...not the norm. There are multitudes of return and regular customers that wouldn't keep coming back if it wasn't an awesome place. One of my favorite past times while staying at the resort is having a chat with Rick. He is very busy, but when he has a few minutes to chat I take advantage. We rented a pontoon from Shorewood Resort. The pontoon was in poor shape and they used random leftover pieces from other pontoons when certain parts were missing. The pontoon initially ran, but soon after we had issues and it wouldn't start. We called them, hoping to get it resolved and get another pontoon to enjoy the week, but instead they took the pontoon and soon after blamed us for the issue, saying it would cost an additional $900 to the amount we rented it for. We treated the pontoon as if it were our own, only to find out that the owners don't even treat their equipment that way, in the hope that they could get some extra money from people trying to enjoy their vacation. The whole experience was awful, and to add insult to injury, all transactions are made in cash and the "contract" is general and does not mention Shorewood Resort on it. This business is shady to say the least and an audit from the IRS may at least put some of the money back in the system. I'd rather it be there than in the crook's pockets. read more

Every year we take a week to get out of town and spend time on a lake. Since I was a boy, a long-long time ago, I want to go fishing. In our many adventures, there have been less than adequate conditions. Rick and Jan take a great deal of pride in their cabins, pontoon boats, and the general upkeep of the grounds. As a. early riser, I have seen them walking around at 6 am picking up leaves, branches, general litter, and what-ever is needed to clean it up from last evening. Cabins are clean on the outside and the inside. The rental pontoons are in perfect condition and if there are any problems it is fixed or replaced immediately. All of this and at the end of the week Sundays and root beer floats as all of the weekly gusts come together with our hosts to say thank you We have stayed at resorts that take your money at check-in and then are not seen until you leave. If you are looking for a first-rate resort, good fishing, and clean cabins. You cannot do better than Shorewood Resort. read more

We have staying at Shorewood Resort for several years now. Two weeks in July and a long weekend in October. We stay in the Jacuzzi Suite which is right on the lake with beautiful views of the lake. The suite is always clean and very comfortable for my husband, two dogs, and myself. Everything you need is there except for towels. Rick and Jan the owners have root beer and ice cream social for everyone staying there. There is a two tiered deck on lake for visitors to use with a beautiful view of the lake and surrounding area. Several pontoons to rent which we do. The landscaping on the grounds is well kept and beautiful. And the hand carvings done by Rick are amazing. They are always updating and improving their property. It truly is a beautiful, peaceful, calm place to be. This resort is my happy place every year. read more

This will be our 3rd year getting together with my brother and family members at Shorewood Resort. Looking forward to it. Rick and Jan have been pleasant and have made sure our cabins have been clean and stocked. Rick is an accomplished fisherman and has plenty of tips for you if you ask. Last year, they had an ice cream social for us all with yummy dessert treats, too. The resort is a short walk from a great bar/restaurant and there is a nice beach/park just down the road, also walking distance. A ski show was held on the lake while we were there. We can't complain about the fishing, either. All in all, we have enjoyed our visits, look forward to our next visit come June, and will probably be booking for next year, too. read more

Just getting ready to book for this year after an amazing time with my family last year. We stayed in the Garden Suite and it was absolutely gorgeous, peaceful, and serene. The owners Rick and Jan met us with smiles and lots of knowledge about the area. The first day we went out on the lake with friends and didn't get any fish, came back to the resort and right away Rick knew something was wrong and asked. He then proceeded to tell us all the areas where the fish were biting. So the next day we rented one of the pontoons and Rick showed us some tricks with our lines and we set out for the day and got our limit. I would gladly recommended Shorewood Resort to anyone. Shorewood Resort is fantastic!! Rick and Jan are very accommodating. Our cabin is beautiful, right on the lake with it's own attached deck. Always clean, comfortable, and relaxing! The resort also has a huge deck overlooking the lake for all guests to enjoy. If you rent a pontoon, it's ready and waiting for you to enjoy when you check in. The grounds are very well kept. We have been coming to shorewood since 1989 since way before Rick and Jan bought it. We have not missed a year - anyone who hadn't seen it before couldn't believe the improvements they have made. Now our kids and their kids are coming every year. We went from one cabin to four cabins every year. We have some friends from Indinia who come every year with their kids. They also rent four cabins. We have been coming so long Rick and Jan treat us like family. I sold my fishing boat a couple of years ago and now rent a pontoon boat. Rick makes sure everything works and I am happy. read more

My wife and I have been coming to Shorewood Resort for 20 plus years. Each year, we're always impressed at the upgrades from the previous year. Rick and Jan have always gone out of there way to insure our vacation was an enjoyable event. We have been to Shorewood resorts for the past 4 years and have had a good vacation. The cabins are clean and neat. We enjoy a week of fishing and relaxation. The owners Rick and Jan are very friendly and helpful. They have a fish cleaning house and they have pontoon boats for rent and they are clean and neat and equipped with fish finder and live well, canopy, and also a CD player/radio. They have things to do certain nights for the campers such as ice cream float night. We will continue to go to this resort. read more

My party of 5 been going here for years love the peace and quite beautiful land scaping. The decks are amazing to sit on and watch the sunset. After the sun goes down we like to fish from the dock with night light bobbers just ablast. If your looking for a five star place to relax then shorewood resort fits the bill. The pontoons are great for the family and our dogs, Dock Is great for older folks when parents join us, Close to everything in town. The owners have always treated us great! We rented a 2 Bedroom cabin and a pontoon. We can't say enough great things about the Resort and most of all Rick and Jan. They were nothing more than accommodating to all of our needs. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The last night of our stay Rick and Jan hosted an ice cream social. Our 4 year old son thought that was pretty cool.
