My wife bought a Living Social deal for four lawn mowings for $80 as a gift for me. The fine print clearly stated that only residents of New Haven County will be eligible, which we are. My wife called to redeem the voucher and spoke with the owner. He seemed surprised when she told him the town we lived in. At first, he didn't think we lived in New Haven County. Um, I think we know where my town is located. Then he was disappointed because he figured out that we lived a good hour away from his business, which is not the customer's problem. He was the one that put the deal together with Living Social, not us. He is the one that should honor it. He told my wife to call back to set up the month I would be getting my mowings. She called back at the end of June and spoke with a woman this time. This woman was rude and surprised, and asked if the owner had approved of this since my town was so far away. My wife explained that the owner was aware of where we lived and that the deal clearly stated "New Haven County." Reluctantly, she was told the mowings would begin at the beginning of July. Well, the beginning of July came and went and Shorehaven Landscape never showed up or called. My wife proceeded to call them four more times and left messages each time, but never received a call back. My wife then had to call Living Social and explain to them that they sold me a voucher from Shorehaven Landscaping that they refused to honor. Which, from my point of view, as a customer, is false advertisement. Amazingly, this company had actually marked our voucher as "redeemed!" Can you believe it? My wife had to wait on hold for a long time while Living Social investigated her complaint. Fortunately, Living Social was willing to try to get this company to complete their side of the agreement and have our lawn mowed. Living Social attempted to make contact with Shorehaven Landscaping, but guess what? Living Social never received a call back, either. If you see Shorehaven Landscape running deals on other sites just beware that they may not honor it. Shorehaven Landscape has shown me, their customer, that they are unprofessional, untrustworthy, untruthful, and uncaring. I would never use them for my landscaping needs. read more

I had the same problem the person in Waterbury had with the Living Social voucher. However, I emailed and confirmed with the business that they would come to my address before I even made the purchase. When it came time to schedule my lawncare, I was told they don't cross the Q Bridge. When I informed them I had an email from Bruce himself saying I fell within the 15 mile boundary and they WOULD come this far, I never heard from them again. I have close friends in Guilford who are more or less happy with their lawncare (the job, once it gets done, is lovely, but scheduling them is impossible). If you live on the right side of the bridge, go for it. If you live on the New Haven side, don't waste your time even making the call. read more

I contracted with Shorehaven Landscaping to plant several pine trees on my property and the property of my adjoining neighbor in June, 2012. Of the two trees planted on my property, one did well and one died after 4-5 months. I was told when we contracted with them that they would guarantee and replace any tree that died within the first year, and I contacted them in early 2013 to have them do this. I was assured by the owner (Bruce) that they would do this in May when the trees and ground were ready to be able to plant. After not hearing anything back from him for several months, I contacted them again in June, and only after multiple messages did finally respond, to let me know that they would do this by early July. By mid-July, still nothing, and again it took at least 5 calls to the office number and Bruce's cell phone over more than a week before I was finally contacted, and he again assured me that this would be done, this time by the first week of August. Needless to say, it is now mid-September, and still nothing, and I have now left at least 10 phone messages over the past two weeks with no response. It is inconceivable to me how anyone could run a business in this way, and be so disrespectful and non-responsive to what they have agreed all along is their responsibility. I hope that this still be resolved without further action, but at this point I am very disappointed and would never recommend this service to anyone. read more
