There are very good events here. It is shoreditch so it has to be pretty trendy right? I've seen djs and drag queens and 'Ted' talks, and singers, so book the event early else it'll fill up! But just because the event doesn't accept anymore bookings, you'll probably still have a chance to attend if you ask nicely. There's of course a nice rooftop with views with a nice pool. The food is decent and the staff are friendly. Theres even a fun Photo Booth for your own soho house souvenir. It's a nice treat for sure. read more

I really like this house and the fact that it is in Shoreditch (an area I really like). I went for brunch with a couple people. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our order came out in a fair amount of time and was correct. The food didn't blow me away but was good and filling. I love the interior of this house. They even have a photo booth! So.overrated. Note this review is just for the restaurant. For starters, the space is lovely and the views as well. A wonderful panoramic view of London. Also, nice interior furnishings. But this is where the great stuff ends. The varied servers we had all seemed to be incompetent. It became a joke on how waiters did it take to get a glass of tap water. Apparently, at least three. And what's with filling only HALF the table's glasses?? I ordered the blackened cauli with tarragon pesto as a main and the Schwarzenegger smoothie (kale, spinach, soy milk, strawberry, etc). Neither were great. I'm particular disappointed in the cauli as it's presented well and the pesto looks delicious. Yet it was only ok. Not worth the £10. Maybe half that. My husband got the avo and poached eggs and there was thankfully a decent helping of avo and THIS was delicious! I had total food envy. It was quite fluffy with great kicks of lime and spice (chili flakes). I split the aubergine Parmesan with a friend and whilst it's good, it's very salty. Ok so you have be a member (or be with someone who can afford the astronomic annual fee) but regardless of all the hipsters, PR mums and overly toned fashionistas it's a damn good place to get into. The food is great, the drinks are tasty, you can play ping pong all afternoon or sit in the photobooth and perfect your selfie face. Plus there's the roof top pool. Get in! Whatever takes your fancy it's worth finding a way past the reception and dipping your toes in the cool refreshing water (that's actually heated), even if it's just to make your friends jealous. read more

Well kinda like a avoiding the Harry Potter books I was intent on jumping off the bandwagon, and not subscribing to the most talked about venue of the year. Last night, I finally caved in. The roof deck reminded me of a plush Hollywood Bar I once frequented where a plastic surgeon offered me a discounted boob job! Yes, I contemplated it but within a heartbeat the 'Doctor' disappeared. No bodily enhancements available here, just the distinct feeling of bliss that accompanies sitting on a roof deck gazing out to the Gerkin skyline, holding a zesty glass of Chablis. The 6th floor is a restaurant with one of the best views of the Shoreditch district. When you enter you smell the firewood burning and the bread being baked on the oven. I highly recommend having breakfast here. I ordered the Poached Royale eggs with salmon and it did not disappoint. Would also recommend the avocado poached eggs or the English breakfast. I've been wanting to go to Shoreditch House for some time now so I was so VERY excited when my friend recommended us going! Shoreditch House is a members club and what's great for those who do have memberships is that you're able to take up to 3 friends in with you at anytime which is pretty great but for the cost of the membership it's the least they can do. It truly is a stunning venue and you can really feel the exclusivity of it from the minute you walk in. The pool on the top floor is actually rather large with plenty of seating and sun beds around it. I could definitely see myself spending many a summer days up there. They also have an area with a number of ping pong tables for those looking to have a game! On this evening we spent the night in the smaller bar area to the left of the first floor. The music was awesome! A great mix of old and new tracks - from Michael Jackson to Justin Beiber, just the perfect mix and great to dance too. I really did love this place and will definitely be back very soon. That pool is calling my name! read more

Do you want that quaint East London tenement experience where you can hear everything your neighbors are doing through the walls and windows? Then Shoreditch House is the place for you! Do you want your sleep to be interrupted or prevented entirely by odd repetitive banging noises the staff professes to know nothing about? Stay here! You can wonder, as you lie awake at night: Is everyone here having a lovers quarrel ending in violent door-slamming? Is someone above me throwing a medicine ball on the floor? Are they loading bricks into something at 3 in the morning? Who knows? Not the staff surely. Of course, they know it is loud as hell in their rooms, which come stocked with ear plugs. But the ear plugs won't help you. This is the kind of noise that shakes the bed, that you can actually feel. Terrible hotel for sleeping. Yeah, if you want to see a bunch of pretentious self-important tossers using a lounge, I suppose this is the hotel for you. If you're an actual adult, look elsewhere. read more

I don't even know how to review this place since my perspective is that I was a friend of friend of a coworkers friend who is a member of this place who tagged along one night. It was a strange douchey battle with the bouncers to get in but then the member herself came downstairs to claim us. The elevators weren't working so we climbed a lot of stairs to the roof where the awesomeness occurred. First site is a giant lit pool with loads of people dancing around it. Sadly, no one was swimming/dancing in it and I wasn't drunk enough to strip and start a trend. There were four main areas of action that night, all packed to the brim with trendy peoples. Poolside, giant bedsized loungers in a veranda area, covered bar area with fireplace center that turned into elevated stage for shirtless gay men and costume-y asian tourists, and then this weird patio looking area with crisscross wooden roof covering and a disco ball. I felt like I was at a rave in my grandmas backyard with that last area. Which was where we mostly hung out for the time we were there. The drinks were strong but the music was lame and techno-y. BUT if invited again I would totally go. Such a weird, awesome, crazy place that you never would have suspected from the street entrance. I can see if being a gorgeous posh oasis of lovely on a hot summers day. oh my god yes if you're reading this please invite me back on one of those days. read more

Shoreditch House must be the most famous of the group of House membership clubs. Very much in keeping with London's property boom, this house is a massive warehouse conversion topped with a rooftop swimming pool. Located in the heart of Shoreditch it attracts a hipster crowd who pitch their latest startup concepts during the day and party at night. It's a bit too big to feel truly private, but the concept works and the place has been heaving every time I've been lucky enough to be invited. read more

This is a private members club which means, unfortunately, you need to be a member or have a member take you in. On the plus side, there doesn't appear to be a limit to how many people a member can invite (I assume there is a limit somewhere but it's greater than 7). And as far as private clubs go, this is top notch. I've been lucky enough to go to a view private clubs on the coattails of my friends in the bartending and banking worlds. Actually, I reckon both groups spend about the same time at the bar, just on opposite sides. These clubs tend to be characterised by luxurious surroundings hidden away from the outside world with no window in sight. And most of them have at least part or all of the club underground. While this does enhance the speakeasy feel of the place, you miss that feeling of being on top of it all. Not so with Shoreditch House. Located on the 4th-6th floors of a modern but nondescript building in Shoreditch, this place is what I envision my penthouse to be one day. The 6th floor boasts a brilliant pool complete with glowing underwater lighting but sadly missing the bikini babes (or anyone...apparently actually swimming in it is frowned upon in the evenings). There is a massive games room with pool tables and foosball tables and a number of bars scattered around the floors. Overall, this place is designed to go with friends and relax with a number of (expensive) drinks. On the plus side, there is virtually no wait for a drink and you can even get table service (not just bottle service) if you'd like. I really enjoyed my night out at Shoreditch House and I'd love to go again. If only they'd let me in that pool too... read more

I hate to sell out my NYC Soho House where I'm a local member, but whenever I'm in London Shoreditch House is where I end up almost every day. Amazing food, so much better than some of the other clubs. The views may be some of the best in London and it is stunning at night to look at the skyline over the beautiful azure pool. The pool is always hot and its so incredible to swim in a metal pool, I think it's the only one I've ever seen. The gym is large and well stocked, the 5th floor is literally heaven with great parlour games and several fires. The bar is terrific as well. Only one negative: The bowling (which rules btw) is REALLY expensive. I know Soho House is a bit overpriced, but the bowling is absurdly expensive, not to mention I've never seen anyone using it. If they want members to socialize and bowl they should at least match Lucky Strike's (fairly overpriced) prices. Maybe the bowling is more for corporate events and not for one off members to really use... read more

This is an achingly cool spot and the staff are surprisingly friendly! We had champers in the bar (celebrating a bonus!) before heading for dinner by the pool. I was seriously tempted to jump in there despite not having my cozzie. My friend has been a member here for years and I've spent many a night/day/morning at Shoreditch House. That said, I'm reviewing as a third party, so keep that in mind... Where to start? Just ten minutes from Liverpool Street tube, location is great and easy to get home from. The biggest of the Soho House properties in London, it's a members-only club made famous for its 'no ties' rule and celebrity fans. Despite having numerous floors, we always seem to end up on the roof no matter the weather. There's just something about chilling out by the pool (especially at night when it's lit up) and looking at the stars that's ultimately relaxing. I've always been wary of members-only clubs (Soho House is only really a nice place to go during the day), but here, any attitude you'd expect seems to have been weeded out by sheer size. Don't get me wrong, I've never seen a place with so many waiters/waitresses, but there doesn't seem to be the element of snootiness you might imagine. The food really is amazing (especially on the fifth floor in the Square Bar, try the macaroni cheese!!), and the cocktails are expectedly expensive but worth the price. The chocolate fondant is like a little slice of heaven on a plate, and I can fully recommend the hand cut chips. SH also boasts its own bowling alley, hotel rooms, beauty salon (from parent-company owned Cowshed) and games room. Oh, and now there's Pizza East (the restaurant open to all just next door) and cinema to boot. I've also been to a few parties on the rooftop, which have been great fun. There's a lot of space to get lost in, be mischievous, and great canapes alongside. Plus, the bathrooms come complete with shower (you are by a pool after all), hairdryer and straighteners. Swish. All in all, I like it a lot here - just watch that your name's definitely on the list if you're meeting a friend as they're very strict on letting people in. read more

The location in Shoreditch is great and the whole building is awesome (several stories with different atmosphere depending on the time you get there). Early breakfast on the rooftop by the pool when the crowd hasn't arrived is very relaxing. The gym is lovely and super well furnished. Having diner is also very pleasant, the food is great, so is the service. It gets much more animated by night. From a couple of drinks to a crazy party, I always enjoy being at SH. Please train your front desk staff...lacking in common sense and civility. It's not very welcoming to have a slow-witted, hungover teenager with unwashed hair asking me to spell my member's surname over and over again (the surname is one syllable) while a massive queue of members and hotel guests builds up behind me and the other two front desk staff jabber away on the phones. Wouldn't let me use the loo until my member arrived. The loo? Really? Why the tyranny? Also why no AC?? read more

This is a club, spa, and hotel all in one, and sometimes one gets the feeling that the hotel part is prioritized last by the staff, most of whom are under 25 and lacking in customer service savoir faire. We asked them to put ice packs - for medical use - in a freezer for us. They agreed, then lost them for 24 hours. We asked for a wake-up call on our last day. It never came. We asked that our stay be charged to a card different from the one the room was held with. They charged BOTH cards. The rooms are nice, but some have no view and thus almost no natural light. On two different occasions we stayed in rooms where light bulbs in the ceiling flickered. Now, can I say something positive? Well, the bathrooms are to die for. Small, but to die for. And the neighborhood is fascinating: Brick Lane to the east, and a combo of the cozy and the trendy to the northwest , on and around Old Street. (See my review of the Breakfast Club on Rufus Street.) Arnold Circus, to the north, is an odd, delightful mini-neighborhood, and on Sundays there is a farmers' market a block east of the hotel. Be sure to use the Old Street or Liverpool Street tube stops. The Overground station right across from Shoreditch House has spotty service, and the Overground line does not connect easily to others. read more

Wow, im not one for gushing but this place is sooooo cool. Now being a corporate Canary Wharf type I am absolutely the antithesis of what they are looking for but I really dont care. From the "no ties" sign to the ping pong tables and photo booths this place has a quirky edge. All the levels of the building are decked out stunningly, the rooftop level has to be my favouite. Swimmingpool, various restaurants and bars.....and the views are absolutely stunning. We had dinner on one of the lower levels and as it turned out Mondays are 50% off eveeything. Have to say I was slightly glad of this as otherwise £9 for a bombay sapphire and tonic is ridiculous. For dinner I went for the burger and chips, as burges go it was bad. At £6 it was good value...at £12 its nothign special. What makes this place 5 star though is the whole package. The views, the space, the decor, the many.....many staff! Given all the rigmarole and hoops you supposedly have to jump through to become a member of Shoreditch House (being recommended by someone deemed worthy, coming up with a "favourite joke" that the board finds sufficiently witty...) I totally thought I'd step inside and be surrounded by nothing but dazzling drop-dead cool people... that I'd be the comparatively shabby wallflower among the preening Birds of Paradise. Ha - not so much. It was more like I walked in, looked around, and found myself thinking, "ummm... where's the cool scene?" Part of the problem is that I'd been to The Hospital in Soho before Shoreditch House opened. Now, I think The Hospital and the people who frequent it are too-rad...so I was sure Shoreditch House would have a vibe that was reminiscent of that... but it really doesn't... Now that we've established that the people inside Shoreditch House aren't all in the league of young Bob Dylans, we can talk about what it is actually like... The décor, for the most part is basically plush traditional English... lots of rich wood tones, leather chairs, and clean lines. Nothing is particularly over-the-top... you don't walk in and say "wow" you walk in and say "huh... that's kind of nice." The service, however, does stand-out... the staff are familiar, amiable, and willing-to-please - though, being the gauche American that I am, I once ran into a bit of trouble when I wanted to take my unfinished three-quarters of a pizza home with me... "we don't have the facilities to do that" the waiter said... but my lovely host insisted... oy... I ended up leaving with it saran wrapped to the top of a plastic lid. All the amenities are great... pool, view, bowling alley, gym, game room... even the food and drinks are good and not that unreasonably priced. All said, Shoreditch is a winning establishment... mostly for what it has to offer as one grand package than for any singular element. I certainly wouldn't join because it's the supposed place to be, but that fact that it has a gym and a decent bar that's open till 3am would potentially make it worth it. read more

A friend of mine took me here for a meeting & dinner. This is a member's club, and a semi-pretentious one with pretenses of being unpretentious. Loads of name-checking at the door, and then they had me remove my tie (as there's a "no suits" policy, which may or may not apply to arseholes in suits without ties). Solid martini. A slight rarity for London. They had a kerfuffle with my friend's card (which I'm sure wasn't overdrawn or anything). Very nice food, if small portions and a bit overpriced. Grilled octopus was a winner. The pinot they'd recommended go with it was less so. Nice vibe, nice atmosphere. If paying £900 a year for spendy meals and drinks in the wilds of E1 is your thing, go for it. I can think of other places I'd go for my cash. read more

Loved this place! I have been here for a company event, so everything was pre-organized and may not reflect a general experience. However I must say that I found both the service and the food quality very good. We have been served by an Italian staff and also the food was cooked by an Italian chef. Mint and peas risotto was amazing, and also the salmon with chickpeas was delicious. Let's not even speak about the desserts... a great tiramisu and a half-peach filled with pieces of amaretto biscuits and wet by a yummy zabaione sauce... The location itself is gorgeous: we stayed in a private area of the rooftop floor, with a beautiful view on London and a bar/dancing area furnished like we were in a garden. There's also a pool, and in daytime it's possible to sunbath on comfy and wide sundecks. Definitely a venue to visit. read more

One of my favorite places in London to have a chilled glass of wine on a nice afternoon. The pool crowd is a bit pretentious, but it's to be expected from a pool area in a members only club in Shoreditch. The nibbles rock, they're open late, and the drinks are outstanding. You really need to accept that invitation when it comes from your colleague or friend and check out the property. read more

I was moderately impressed with Shoreditch House, mainly because of the OTT decor. However, I'm not completely comfortable here. I don't really understand why it's so big. Or why people want to drink in huge private clubs, when they could just go to The Harp. I think post-economic collapse, places like this seem a bit silly, like having a Range Rover or trading credit-default swaps. But still, great lighting. And shoddy lifts. read more

Having been here a handful of times, for meetings, dinner and evening drinks, I must say I still don't understand what is so special about the place apart from the carefully orchestrated "exclusivity" of membership. Yes the decor is lovely and uber-trendy, but the food and service is just simply ok, nothing to write home about. The place is absolutely huge, and upon arriving you are greeted by a trendy (of course) if not, snooty, receptionist who takes your name and directs you to the correct area. You are however, forbidden from using your mobile phone in the building (err... how is one supposed to find their mates?). You then take the lift to the correct floor and commence looking for your friends to start your planned meeting/evening session. I can see why the parent company has chosen Shoreditch as one of their houses - it's prime territory for media types, who are befitting of the clientele that they serve to attract. However, I find the whole concept a little suffocating to say the least - it's just too.... dare I say it, contrived and try hard for my palate. Sorry! read more

Bowling alley was cute for small parties, rooftop bar is a great view, though I had the same view when I lived a couple blocks away so I'm a bit jaded. There's a lot of space and a lot of different vibes to explore, which is nice, but it kind of becomes a haven for banker-types, which I guess Shoreditch is catering to now anyway; rich people that want people to think they're hip. You can get a lot of the same vibe from bars along Great Eastern Street, so I'm not sure I would pay for this membership. Certainly worth popping in if you get an invite. I really didn't care for Soho House so this was at least a nicer setup. read more

If you happen to be a member or a guest of one, you will be witness to what only can be described as the coolest looking cafe/lounge areas in East London. Pop up for the free papers & sweets and relax. Pop up for important meetings. Pop up for a quick swim! It's got everything you need that's not at home. The idea of Shoreditch House is sort of awful; a swish bar/club/gym/hang out of any kind for rich media types. But when you get there it is totally ace. It is a member's club, but I think it's cheaper for younger people. The roof restaurant I wouldn't say has 'spectacular' views across East London, the views are pretty ugly, but they are far reaching at least. Mostly you can see the new train tracks being built. The swimming pool is outdoor and heated, and very popular with families on the weekend. It's a super mega trendy cool place. read more

I was sure I'd reviewed Shoreditch House having been here quite a few times - but it appears not. Anyway - very very good Shoreditch House it has to be said. Beats Soho House and makes the Hospital look frankly ragged. The only members club I like more is Milk & Honey, but that might be just familiarity. The highlight is definitely the swimming pool at the roof area - great stuff, more Miami than London in terms of styling, but with a little bit of an NYC feel thrown in as you look out across the city. The whole place has a great atmosphere to it - brilliant put together throughout with all the different floors having their own unique feeling. Very occasionally it can feel a little bit overly 'media' but nothing too annoying/distracting. Service is excellent whether its food or drinks you are after and of course the food and drink is first class. If you are going to get stuck into the cocktails - may I heartily recommend an espresso martini, a fabulous drink made to perfection here. While not being cheap by any stretch the food and drink is definitely good value. If you are going to join a club - join this one. Yes yes it's in Shoreditch and not the centre of town, but if you're stumping up to join, I'm sure you can afford the cab ride over there! read more

Considering that I think Soho House is pretty nice & smart, my one time in it's Shoreditch sister was quite disappointing. Obviously sitting outside next to a pool does seem like a cool thing to do, but it's actually over full and yes, full of idiots belly flopping into the pool. You can sit on a rooftop for free over at The Boundary. Inside, the main bar looked quite old fashion and just seemed like any noisy pub. read more

I love this place and one of my New Year's resolutions for next year is definitely to become a member. Six floors of lucsciousness: roof terrace complete with swimming pool and BBQ, restaurant, table football and pool table area to chill out in, private bowling alley, spa, what more could you ask for? The ideal place to set down for the day with a laptop and cappuccino, the main lounge appears to be where the coolest of all media types conduct their business. Since my friends are the wrong kind of media types (they prefer the boozing to the schmoozing) the only way I get to see this place is when there's an event on that I'm invited to. And if, at one of those events, I happen to 'accidentally' find myself going up a fire escape and onto the roof terrace and pool area, so be it. ShoHo, as I now call it, is obviously mainly about seeing and being seen, but at least it provides a lovely place to do it. A maze of rooms with bars, bowling alleys, a Cowshed spa and all kinds of distractions, it's easy to see why membership is pricey. I actually prefer this to Soho House, the sister club; the staff are friendlier and the whole vibe is a bit more fashion-orientated and a little less corporate. Ok, I'll admit it. I'm in love with this place. It's just uber cool with a great atmosphere. Every time I go here I can't get enough! I've spent many a day sitting up by the outdoor pool having a meeting - it doesn't get better than sipping Pimms while talking about work strategy! Makes the brain work soooo much harder. The room with the oversized chairs and concrete walls is fantastic and you can just dream away in here for hours - I can't wait for the winter and the huge open fire. I've always been impressed by the food - the pizza's are very yummy. Just a shame it's not in the centre of town because Shoreditch is so far away! This place is special though and whoever designed it has an amazing eye for detail - it's comfortable but indulgent, and always hits the spot. I made my first visit to Shoreditch house recently and I was really quite surprised by it. From the outside, it looks like a disused fire station but once inside it's full of one off vintage decor - lending a really quirky feel to what I always imagined would be a fancy pants place! Shoreditch House is a terrific place to bring friends for a plush night out, but an utter nightmare the rest of the time. The staff in the fifth floor bar are uniformly terrible. Compared to the professionalism over at Soho House, here they're rude, drag their heels and tend to forget your orders. That's if they bring your orders at all. This happens during the day time as well. I've worked in the 5th floor bar during the day and had to basically stand up and wave with the flappy arms of someone drowning to get anyone to come over. It's terrible. The facilities, however, are often lovely. The Cowshed spa and staff are terrific, and the pizzas are the best in the area. All the decent staff seem to be seconded to the roof top in the summer and are (mostly) professional and excellent. The winter bar menu is always excellent and the rooftop on a summer's day/afternoon/evening has a wonderful atmosphere and a real "Blimey! We're in a film!" factor. Less keen on the Biscuit Tin, restaurant and games area which are fine, but not as special as Sho Ho's other parts. If you want to impress someone or give friends a good evening, take them here. Just for God's sake make sure they don't have to encounter the bar staff and don't mind an endless parade of twats in hats trying to see if they've been "spotted". read more
