I had a very disappointing experience during an EMG of the brain at Shore Neurology. The technician did not introduce herself, gave only a very quick explanation of the test, and immediately began placing electrodes without checking in on my comfort. During the procedure, I experienced significant head pain and was visibly upset, with tears in my eyes. Unfortunately, there was no empathy or reassurance--only repeated instructions to "sit still." It felt dismissive and unprofessional, especially given that patients undergoing neurological testing are often anxious or in pain. This type of bedside manner is concerning, particularly when working with sick or elderly patients. When I later shared my experience with the doctor, I was told this was not the first complaint about this technician, which made the situation even more troubling. I hope Shore Neurology takes this feedback seriously and works to ensure patients are treated with compassion and care. Shame on you for not reprimanding this employee. read more

Let me start by saying this review is not about the doctors. I drove my friend, who was experiencing memory issues, to an appointment with a technician named Robin. The procedure she had involved wearing a neurological device for 3 days to analyze her medical issue. I questioned the tech at the first appointment to find out what my friend could or could not do while wearing the device. I was only told "no bathing, showers, or head scratching". She was very abrupt in her answer. I let it go. The following Monday, we returned to have the device removed. Same technician, Robin. When my friend came out of her office, she looked upset. I questioned her, and she stated she wanted to go to the car. At that point, she started to shake and filled up with tears. Robin rudely told her she was supposed to read the instructions in the pack and change the batteries. She told her it probably would only show one day of results, so she just wasted her time! She said she was rough taking the electrodes out of her hair, and let her leave the office with her hair sticking up with red dye in her white hair. I tried to make her laugh by stating she had devil horns just to calm her. At this point, I asked her to sit in the car because I had to take care of something. I went back to the office to question her unprofessional behavior. Robin just happened to be eating her lunch at the front desk with the receptionist ( who was very nice). I proceeded to question Robin's actions, and she bluntly told me it was my friend's responsibility to listen when she gave her instructions! I laughed and asked, "What kind of professional are you? My friend was there for memory issues, and you berate her for not understanding you? I also told her that I questioned her (Robin) after the first visit, and she never mentioned the battery pack or enclosed instructions. I'm not in the medical field, so I would not know what was in the battery pack. She pointed to her name tag and said, "Go ahead and report me, my name is Robin!" Basic instructions when the appointment was made should have included wearing a button-down shirt, since a pullover, like my friend wore, made it impossible for her to change her clothes while living alone. Explain how involved the procedure would be, not to drive alone, and how to deal with the anxiety she felt wearing the device for 3 days, living alone. Dr Miskin is her doctor, but he was not involved in this complaint. I have read good reviews about him, and my friend appears to be comfortable with his care. It is upsetting to know a Shore Neurology would hire a person like Robin, who truly caused emotional issues for my friend. NJ has laws against elder abuse. This technician needs to read them. No medical professional should insult anyone, but especially a woman in her 80s with memory issues. Having a negative person represent the medical group can hurt the reputation of the staff. I hope the doctors address my concern. read more

RUN! RUN! RUN - from Dr. Salam. I went to him for a problem with my leg. He sent me to PT for about 3 months. It didn't help. I went back to him and he told me "It's in your head" and then asked me if I was still living in a group home?! What group home? I have NEVER lived in a group home. The new Drs all seem great. Unfortunately, the Nurse Practitioner Denise Weinrab, left when the business changed hands. She was highly knowledgeable with epilepsy and very caring. Rebecca is helpful and efficient. The person who answers the phone is terribly rude, unprofessional and has zero phone etiquette. She hangs up after yelling impatiently if you have a question or need help. Medicine, especially Neurology is a field where office staff needs to be professional, caring or at least pretend to be...as you are dealing with anxiety from the pain and potential life threatening illness. These people are a poor representation for the doctors that work there. I will look for another Dr simply because of the current person who answers the phone. read more

Dr. Muskin Neurologist the worst Dr. I have even had in my life. Went in the For a problem with a nerve in my jaw and all he was concerned about was why I'm not currently working. WTF is with these doctors being so out of line. read more

I had to be rushed to the ER on 5/10/19. I I do have insurance, however it is not uncommon to not have it with you, especially since i was rushed there for a possible seizure. Dr. Sarris was great at the hospital, however when i called to make an appointment at Shore Neurology, "Rosie" was so nasty to me, even demanding to know that if i did indeed have insurance, why am i listed as "self pay" from the hospital. I am the patient right? Why not just simply ask FIRST what insurance I have? I am super grateful this happened now, before i wasted my time, and hard earned money on co-pays. No one deserves to be treated like that. I also called back to complain, only to be put right back on the phone with her. I am glad I stayed professional, and didn't stoop to her ignorant level. Giving 3 stars bc although the doctors are great, it's their incompetent staff who are not!! They have been screwing around with my appointment for over a month now..I ALWAYS go to the brick location. VERY ANNOYED & I plan to contact management for this. Just beware when scheduling your appointment...even tho I've never been to the Toms River location, but the Brick office 5 times, they just assume that I know my appointment is in Toms River!? Seriously.. Maybe it's time to find a new doctor! read more

I have only had 1 appointment at Shore Neurology so far but... so far so good. The receptionist was friendly and I only waited for about 5 minutes max before I was called back. The Dr was in to see me within minutes. Dr Miskin was VERY thorough. He was extremely receptive and I felt he really 'heard' me. He was friendly and I felt comfortable and confident in his amount/quality of knowledge. read more

I have been going to Shore Nuerology for over 20 years. All the Drs, nurses and staff are terrific! I saw Dr Sandler( God rest his sole) he was a beautiful man. Now I see Dr Ferrence and mostly Dr Sandra. They are awesome! I truly recommend this office they are so nice ! read more

After waiting 45 minutes they finally took me in and took my weight and my blood pressure. I was in the room about 10 minutes by myself and the receptionist told me there was a problem with my insurance. I told her my phone was dead and I would go into my car and get the phone number that I have to call because I'm in a union and I am sure I have insurance. After being on the phone in my car for five minutes I ran back in and gave her the information and gave her a new number to call to prove I had insurance. She said it was too late he took the next patient. I said that's OK I will have my appointment after the next patient and she said no you've been canceled. I waited an hour and now they're canceling my appointment!!! The receptionist said I'd have to reschedule. re you kidding me!!! I have tried to schedule an appointment for over a week no seems that no one answers there phones here. I have called everyday and left messages. How do you get new patients if I can't even schedule an appointment. Whom ever you have answering your phones you need to hire somebody know because a week? Now that's ridiculous. The worst experience I ever had. When they called to confirm I understood my appointment was at 9am I was told I could not bring my baby because its a small office so I made arrangement for babysitter. I had to wait one month for this appointment. but because paperwork said 8:40am I was not seen. I thought it was 8:40am was for paperwork OH and 8:40am office was closed!! but because I already have it all filled out I thought i could be seen. I called and the receptionist told me I could not be seen anymore and hang up the phone on me was VERY VERY RUDE!! I can't believe someone like this has a job dealing with patients. I had all my paperwork ready I made it at 9:05am and I still was denied to speak to doctor or manager in person there was only a "manger" over the phone. Even though I was already in the office. AT 9AM with an empty office!! no waiting patients!! and I was still denied care. I felt like I was begging for care even though I have insurance and they're getting paid for! Its feels horrible to feel sick and have to beg to be seen!! its one the most degrading experiences I ever had in my life. Starting with the receptionist and ending with a "phone manager" that did not care about how hard I tried to keep my appointment even making arrangements for babysitter because they're office is to small and is not child friendly. I am a stay home mom and its hard to be sick and have an appointment and did everything to be seen but because I was 15 minutes "late" I was not seen even though 15 minutes before the office was closed! Don't go here unless you want to feel like someone is doing you a favor instead of being a patient that needs professional medical care. read more
