We walked into the hotel to a glistening modern lobby & a very warm friendly welcome. The check-in process was quick & easy. Two glasses of complimentary champagne & we were on our way to a sparkling clean room. Great balcony view & comfortable bed helped make this all top notch.

Well....less than 2 months after my breakup. somehow got a date night in Santa Monica. So I decided to just spoil myself along the way and picked the most obviously fancy Hotel in SM. Remember that big glassy hotel right there by the pier? Yup that one. It wasnt cheap but is it worth it? I would say it is upto individual choice. The hotel is clean and nice, the room design was fancy. Check out my picture with the glass see-thru shower space. My room can also see the pier and the Ocean. it was something. The parking is valet only and the space is tight. The service? excellent. My only complaint is the noise. This is not the hotel's fault. It is just the natural of the location. With the hotel being right at the pier, you will always have drunk people, homeless people, pier goers and fast cars blowing by your hotel room. I will be back...someday. But i will be back

This is by no means a 5-star hotel. Stayed here for 2 nights as part of my honeymoon before departing for Tokyo. We wanted to stay in LA first to break up all that travel. After the stay, but ESPECIALLY after the customer service we experienced in Japan, I wish we had never stayed here. I'll start with the fact that they try and nickel and dime you for EV-ER-Y-THING. I had a bad feeling about the Shore Hotel when we called to request an early check-in, and they said sure, for a fee of $75. We booked our room on booking. com, so we were unaware that we chose a "room without amenities." Amenities meaning for one, wi-fi. LOL!!!! In this day and age, when everyone has data plans, WHAT in the world is going on with charging guests for wi-fi? We mainly just wanted it so we could project our ipad to the TV and watch something other than cable at night, but when we inquired, the front desk staff told us it would be $15/day PER device. Hilarious! Even Venice Beach had free wifi. On the beach. The fridge was labeled "not for food," and all the drinks in there were not even slightly chilled. Elevator next to our room did not go to the lobby. When we pressed floor 1, we went to the first floor but then ended up in a maze, and when we asked, they told us that the elevator doesn't go to the lobby because we got a "room without amenities." hehe It continues. The parking was $20/night if you just store your car and don't take it out. It was $45/night if you use your car. So we rented a car, then we were trying not to use it at all so we didn't have to pay even more. Just so ridiculous. I spent 10 minutes taking the coldest shower of my life because it was not intuitive figuring out how to get hot water. I eventually figured it out, but by that time my shower was over and I was shivering. The shower also had someone else's hair in it when we arrived. blek. The bathroom wall was made only of glass. So when we arrived, from the beds, you had a full view of the shower and toilet!!! Eventually, my husband found a button that made an electronic screen go down so that you didn't have to watch someone else use the bathroom!! What in the world??? Did they run out of money to build a real wall? I liked that we had an outdoor little balcony, but it was made gross by a cigarette holder filled with cigarette butts and rainwater. We attempted the outdoor hot tub, but it was evident that it hadn't been cleaned in quite some time by all the white foam. (Look up what the white foam in hot tubs is - you'll never forget after you know.) Finally, on our reservation, I wrote that it was our honeymoon, and we'd love some non-alcoholic bubbly. Well, we checked in and nothing was in the room. That was fine - I figured if we had to pay for wifi, we wouldn't be getting anything. Our money, passports, iPads, were strewn about and we went downstairs for 10 minutes (add on 10 for the time it took to figure out the elevator). When we came back, there was a bottle of alcoholic champagne with a note that hadn't been there before. I was a little weirded out that someone just went into our room with all of our valuables laying around. When I spoke with the front desk, I told them we appreciated the gesture, but we requested non-alcoholic and we were uncomfortable with someone in our room unexpectedly. The front desk guy said that's because we didn't press the "privacy button," which he said in a manner like I should know what that is or as if all hotels have this. I told him I had no idea what that was. He explained there's a button that you have to press so that staff doesn't walk into your room. I said, oh ok, I've never in all my years experienced that at a hotel, just the privacy signs for the door handle. He said, "We've done away with those." LOLOLOL All I have to say about that is - if you are going to create a system that is different from the entire WORLD - then explain it when guests arrive!!! Then he said he could send up a NA bottle, but we'd have to go back up to our rooms. We replied that it took us 20 minutes to get downstairs, so we wouldn't be going back up now. We were getting dinner and we could get it on our way back in. When we arrived back, we picked up the bottle, which needed a bottle opener. We requested to borrow one, and another guy at the desk said, "Wellll......as lonnngggg as we get it bacccck...." as if we were little kids who wanted to steal his shit. The only - and I mean only - saving grace for this place is Adriano. He was so kind, tried to make our stay better when we voiced our displeasure, and gave us the bikes to use on Venice Beach. When we wanted to keep the bikes longer, we called him and he said no problem. What a disappointing start to my honeymoon, a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. Luckily, the Japanese more than made up for it in ways the Shore Hotel would never imagine in their wildest boardroom meeting dreams.

Pricey but worth stay if you want close vicinity to all things beach related. Check in is pretty strict on time but they will hold your bag and accommodate early check in if possible. Check out is latest 11:30 or you have to pay extra. Parking $50 a night. If you can have someone drop off it's better as you can walk anywhere here! To Venice beach, to all promenade, etc. Love they give you beach and pool towels. No worry about bringing extra items to lay out in sun. Complimentary coffee all morning at Lobby area that is reminiscent of Miami with all its open windows. The gym is small is minimal equipment but it works just right. There is a whole shower in gym in case you wanna smell all good before heading out of gym. The pool is heated (yay!!) so u can enjoy 7am-10pm. Restaurant area is nice with heater next to each table. Complimentary coffee in room, the water in fridge are not free. $6 per bottle. Be sure to scan the price in TV before taking anything or you'll be charged. Overall the snack bar is stocked well--and priced high. If money is not too tight this is a good staycation place. They do change for everything especially if you are a party of 4. Even in restaurant automatic % charge included in bill. That would be most families! Party 6 or more will be charged more % in bills. Other than that the place is gorgeous, the room clean, balcony amazing, and location perfecto!

Beautiful hotel! This place was great. Couldn't ask for a better location staff was all helpful and exceeded my expectations. Rooms are modern clean and beautiful. Price is competitive and totally worth it. I highly recommend this place.

A group of 9 of us came for my sisters birthday. Had an excellent stay. Adriano was so helpful and even arranged a cake and wine sent to the room which made our stay so special. Neri was very helpful. All the staff were great. The view from the ocean view room was amazing. Thank you for such a great time. The location of this hotel is spot on!!! Only negative was the pool seemed to be more centered towards children and not single adults looking to lounge and have cocktails at the pool. Luckily there are lots of bars and restaurants around. Thank you for everything!!!

What a wonderful experience from check in to check out. Where to begin, we were in house for a wedding that was staying at the hotel and everyone was lovely. I valet parked my car which was a smooth experience and very friendly. Once in the hotel I was checked in by a young gentleman whose name I didn't get but he was working with Ally and they were also both awesome and nice. The room was ready early which I knew wasn't required but they made it happen for us and it was very much appreciated. The room was beautiful with a nice balcony that faced the street. Security was nice, front desk was lovely, I had a question about my charges and Adriano, the Head Concierge, asked me if I needed help as I stood in line waiting for a front desk agent to open up. The hotel was very well kept and the pool was clean and it was nice to be able to have a drink there as well. What a wonderful experience overall. My only nudge of an issue was that on the balcony I had full cell phone service but inside the room I had no cell phone service, but the wifi was solid I just couldn't make any calls in the room which might be the only thing to stop me from staying again.

My husband and I recently found ourselves in Santa Monica for an afternoon. After enjoying our site-seeing around the Santa Monica Pier, we decided to spend the evening in a local Hotel and drive home the following day. We ended up staying at The Shore Hotel on Ocean Avenue directly across from the Pier & the Beach. From the Champagne at Check-In to the welcoming and refreshing Chilled Fruit Plate waiting for us in our Beautiful Room, pretty much everything about our stay was so, so far beyond our expectations. Firstly, the Hotel itself is beautiful and very well maintained. There always seemed to be a staff member quietly busying themselves in the lobby, a hallway or elsewhere on the grounds. Each member of the staff that we passed in the Lobby or a Hallway always offered a big smile and a pleasant greeting. There is ample security at and around this property. Most seem to be in plain clothes and they definitely don't stand out. While the Hotel is certainly in a very nice area, it is still reassuring to know that the on-site security is so well thought out. As for our Room, it was very large, well appointed and spotlessly clean. The Bed was very comfortable, the Shower in the flow-through Bathroom was excellent and our Balcony had a gorgeous Ocean/Pier View. We didn't have a chance to visit the Pool/Spa area in the enclosed Oceanfront Courtyard, but it looked very inviting as well. We enjoyed Breakfast at the Hotel Restaurant (can't remember the name) before Check-Out, and by this point to no great surprise, we found the Food, Service and Value to be as perfectly on-point as everything else. Note: While I'm not sure if it is affiliated w/ the Hotel, there is an EXCELLENT Restaurant next door called "The Blue Plate Taco" that my husband and I both highly recommend as well. Throughout our stay, no detail was overlooked by their excellent and very attentive staff. 10/10 all the way!!

On a positive note, the view from the room is very nice. The pool area is pretty sweet, too. I enjoyed going to the pool in the morning & grabbing a bite to eat. For their limited size.. The design of the rooms is quite nice, as well. It was decently clean. On the other hand, the wi-fi is god awful. Like, about as bad as I've ever seen in a hotel. Good LUCK getting any work done or trying to play a game on your phone before bed. There's no streaming options or entertainment options, really at all.. The TV situation is so out-of-date it's disappointing. I have work to do & the bigger screen is a major help. At other hotels, I usually cast my laptop to the TV no problem. But of course, Sharecast doesn't work.. fair enough. I'm not a whiny type of guy, I can make it work. So I walk to the lobby & ask the man at the desk for an HDMI Cord (and i know they have plenty) after which he looked at me like I was crazy for asking such a question. He almost looked at me like he thought I was trying to steal an HDMI cord? Like c'mon man. i'm already upset that I can't get any work done in your out dated hotel.. now you're going to give me an attitude about a simple question? yikes. The young woman at the desk was very kind to me before he barged in.. Lastly, They need to stop handing out that bathtub champagne, too. I'd rather not get a drink than be given that stuff. I could continue, but i'm not one to pile on. The point stands - Would not come back. I'm not a TV Exec.. so It's not all about pools and views, The Shore. Some people have to travel & work at the same time. Considering making major improvements in those areas.

I am eternally grateful for the care and concern extended by this hotel to our community as it offered haven to Palisades refugees - along with our dogs, cats, birds, snakes, fish - piled into their beautiful lobby that had finished a renovation a couple weeks prior. The hotel group was generous, and the employees from every department were of the highest caliber. Whoever did the lion share of the hiring for the staff present between January-June 2025 deserves an award. In 6 months time, I did not directly or indirectly encounter a single issue with staff. Rooms were perfectly appointed with luxurious bathtubs and great views. Of the 5 rooms I stayed in, Room 734 was my all around favorite. If that's not in the budget, Room 308 is a runner up. For those looking for a weekend away, I recommend you ask for a room on the 7th, then 6th, then 5th, then 4th floor...you get my point. Rooms from -30-38 with direct ocean views are also the quietest as they're nestled in the center of the hotel. Noise can be an issue on the 3rd floor, at least when staying for months. probably won't bother anyone over a weekend. During a time of great chaos and unprecedented stress, managing the remediation of seniors with dementia, assisting 6 family members who lost homes, Shutters provided me a safe haven. For the rest of my life, I shall be grateful for the kindness of ownership, management, and boots on the ground. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind compassion. I'm including a sketch gifted by the magnificent Carol (@caroldraws___ on IG) of the Shutters house poms. My girls miss their hotel bestie, Cyndi, every day. The housekeeping staff was fantastic too. The gentleman who was responsible for our room always asked if we needed anything and if he could provide any assistance in making our stay even better. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite. The great thing about the suite setup is that the living room with a pull out couch is separated by a door to the bedroom; you could watch TV in one room and not bother the people in the other room. The TVs in each room were oversized and there was a decent sized mini fridge (Target and Trader Joes are just down the street - hello wine and beer!) The walls were thick, as was the main door and hotel noise and street noise was minimal. They have a pool on the 3rd floor that doubles as the covered drop off/entrance area and it was very nice. The breakfast buffet was solid (include made to order eggs), but it was too expensive (approx. $33 per person-tip included.) The best part about our stay were the pillows. Down pillows! The most comfortable pillows I have ever slept on! The beds were solid too. What else? You're a couple of blocks from the Santa Monica Pier and Beach. You're within an 8 minute walk to McDonald's for breakfast (cheaper than the hotel buffet!) and your about a 10 minute walk to the 3rd St Promenade. Our daughter absolutely loved her first trip to the beach and this Hilton property and its staff had a lot to do with that! *Tip 1* Head to Trader Joes to stock up on booze for your room fridge. *Tip 2* They don't have a microwave on property to reheat leftovers or snacks. Plan accordingly.

Great hotel near the beach…read more Beautiful interior and friendly helpful staff. It is on a side street and parking is a challenge but overall Great hotel. Great views and close to restaurants and bars

Only to then call back a second time & the female at the front desk answered rudely that she couldn't do anything about it at all..& That we now had to wait to call back at 9AM instead.. She then abruptly hung up the phone on us..& As abruptly as she hung up on us..Less than 5 minutes after that we were then greeted & intimidated by their security & told that "we were being disruptive & needed to calm down before we would be forced to leave." We were upgraded to a lanai suite and found the room to be perfectly nice. The carpeting looked and felt clean, the bedding was very nice. We had dinner off property but enjoyed spending our Diamond credit for breakfast in the morning. Again, excellent service and we really enjoyed our meal. Valet parking is the only hotel parking and at $70 a night I wasn't going to do that. Across the street is a lot of metered parking that is charged only 5 hours at a time from 9am to 6pm. Very easy to park along the street - either side. We usually spend our reward nights at WA Beverly Hills (and that probably won't change) but we genuinely did enjoy our quick night at the Oceana.

The Valet greets you upon arrive but I noticed a few things that were troublesome. If you cannot walk stairs this property my not be right for you. The lobby is on the second floor accessible by stairs. Some rooms seem to only be reachable by stairs and they only have two rooms with two beds unless you want a king bed and a pullout couch. Most all the rooms have some type of balcony and some have a rope swing to sit on eventhough it is more decorative than functional. The lobby area is warm and welcoming and the pool area is simply fabulous. They make it known that the pool water is always above 82 degrees. I loved that they provided complimentary coffee by the pool in the morning and then throughout the day they have juices and cold water. On the 3rd floor there is a great sitting area with wonderful views of the coastline and beach. The staff was helpful in finding us the right room and making sure that all of our amenities were perfect. We only stayed for two nights but I would definitely return again.

The amenities were nice and I really liked the rooms, the shower had great pressure and the water got, and stayed hot. Also, I always love a robe and slippers, and the bed was the right firmness as well. The room even had a partial ocean view from the window, which let in plenty of natural light during the day. On the day of my wedding, I chose this place to celebrate with my family and friends. We ordered a…read morefew bottles of champagne to toast together. I asked the bartender to leave the bottles on ice at the counter with some glasses so I could pour for my guests myself. He refused, insisting that he needed to pour the drinks. He then deliberately poured larger servings than I wanted, clearly trying to make us finish the bottles faster so we would buy more. When I asked him to pour less champagne, he laughed and said, "Oh, you want to maximize the bottle," which felt disrespectful and inappropriate--especially on my wedding day, and while everyone was already spending money on drinks. My brother-in-law paid for a couple of bottles of champagne, closed the check, signed it, and left. About an hour later, the same bartender came to me and asked me to pay for those bottles, claiming the check had never been closed and suggesting I ask my brother-in-law for the money. At that point, I was extremely upset because I personally saw my brother-in-law close and sign the check. After speaking with the manager, the truth came out: the bartender had mistakenly closed a different check using my brother-in-law's card. When he realized his error, instead of admitting it, he tried to cover it up and make me pay. This caused unnecessary stress and wasted time on what should have been one of the happiest days of my life. In addition, we had called in advance to ask if we could bring our own cake and were clearly told yes, it would not be a problem. However, when the cake arrived, we were suddenly told that outside food was not allowed. This contradiction added even more frustration for me and my guests. Because of this experience, neither I nor my guests will ever return to this place, no matter how nice the location is, unless that bartender is no longer working there. His behavior was unprofessional and disrespectful, and he should be focused on pleasing customers--not creating conflict. The manager was polite and cordial, but he should have addressed his employee's mistake directly instead of involving me during my wedding celebration.
