I'm the more adventurous one in the family and can usually convince my young adult children especially favorite son. Favorite daughter and hubby not so much. My cousin and I decided to check out the scooters prior while walking the dog to get a feel of the place. When we arrived we were greeted by Ray. He was more in love with our lab, but that was cool - a great ice breaker. Ray was great with answering our questions. Later that day the five us came back to try out the scooters. Again, we were greeted by Ray. He went over the cost and the paperwork. We then were greeted with John (the quiet one....he he). We have one in the family as well (favorite daughter)...so we get it. At first we weren't sure how to take John, but he was the opposite of what we thought. Both guys were patient and accommodating in walking us through the process of working the scooters. John who worked with me, my husband and favorite daughter was patient in making us feel comfortable. Never made us feel uneasy in riding the scooters. Ray worked with favorite son and my cousin. Ray even suggested areas to go to for that great sunset that I was looking for. BTW, my cousin took us to Lavalette Beach (beautiful town close by) and was wondering why everyone we passed was looking at us . Found out later from a lady who was following us on her manual bike that this area had never seen these scooters. She couldn't wait to stop us to inquire. She was so friendly and pleasant to work with. On my first day I had a slight issue with one of the bikes and Gene was back within the hour to replace the bike! So all we had to do was grab our beach bags and head to the beach. Every morning, without fail, we received a photo of our set up, it was great! And when we wanted to meet friends on a different beach we just let them know the evening before and they set us up exactly where requested. Asbury Pedalcycle - I am a fan!…read more This is a very cool and different activity to do in Asbury Park. Especially if you are with a crew who doesn't want to spend the entire day lounging on the beach. The bike is large and can fit around 15 or 16 peeps. If you have a big crew you can rent out the entire bike - perfect for a birthday party or group outing. The tour is 2 hours - the bike makes three thirty minute stops at various bars around town and you spend thirty minutes riding. Drinking is not permitted on the bike but you are able to drink at every stop! You also get a wristband that gives you access to various special at the bar. We stopped at Porta, Langosta and Anchors Bend. Even without drinking on the bike (NJ is lame) being on the bike is the best part. Our group had so much fun pedaling and rocking out to music. Plus, every single person on the streets of Asbury will wave at you and it is hilarious. The owner Jesse is the man. Such a great tour guide and is passionate about his business and making sure that people have a great time. Highly suggest taking a pedalcycle tour around AP - if you like biking and drinking you'll enjoy it!
