Update on raincheck issue referred to in previous post. After waiting on my landline for 2 hours to speak to a rep at Wakefern, I was told by the rep that my complaint would be referred to the Hazlet store & I would hear back from them in 1 to 2 business days. Today is 3 business days & no call! Ridiculous! I don't see how they can have the high customer ratings they advertise. The three employees working refused to help me as they were preparing to "close" the section. This was after another customer was served before me. Purchased a container of Dearborn potato salad today. Their food used to be very good. Apparently all Shop Rite took is the Dearborn name. Someone forgot step #1, cook the potatoes! First off I am a frequent shopper at shoprite Hazlet, unfortunately I may have to look at Stop and shop. My holiday promotion was $400.00 and I spent more than that . I wanted a Kosher turkey for my family over the holidays. After several time asking for one ( they never had any when i was there at least 5 times) the Kosher promotion was over May 4th when i went trying to get my Turkey yesterday , none to be found. Self checkout here is very annoying. Every time I used to go here, I'd have staff members 2 feet away staring at me, and it creeped me out. Like I just wanted to grab my cheezits and dip. They treat everyone that checks out like an actual thief. God forbid you decide to use your own bags that you brought in too. I got questioned multiple times asking if I paid for that bag, and I had to tell both employees that I brought them in, because they're.. ya know, REUSEABLE. whenever a business is next to a monopoly you get what shoprite gives you. if you want a "fresh from frozen" you can find it in their store. Instead of self service checkouts they can retrain their "look over your shoulder" staff. The world is not full of thieves. I have been using Shoprite from Home service out of this store and it is the best! Every single item that is available if you walk in the store is available for online ordering. Even if you need cold cuts or specials items from the bakery you can add it to your online order. This store has three assigned parking spaces to pick up the order. Recently they added a new helpful option. The parking sign now has a message saying to send a text message when you arrive to let them know you are there. I send a text and give them my spot number and the employee brought my groceries right out to the car. I used to have to call them so now this texting feature is much easier. There is still a phone number if you want to call. Every time they brought out the cart they have always asked if I needed help loading the bags in the car. I tell them I can do it myself but it is very nice for them to offer to help if you do need it. I feel more comfortable ordering online during covid and not going into the store. I have done the pick up over a dozen times this past year and they never once got my order wrong or was missing products. And if the store is out of stock they will send you a notification asking if you want a replacement. This last trip the soda I requested was unavailable but they replaced it with a diet of the same flavor brand and size. That was ok with me and I clicked yes. This ShopRite is a super clean mega-center, complete with a cafe, a croffee counter, a bank branch, a dry cleaner, a liquor store, a complete outdoor and yard center, and a full service pharmacy. The ShopRite of Hazlet should have it's own zip code! I was just stopping by on a trip back to the city. The produce section was HUGE with both great selection and prices. God forbid you need customer service on ShopRite's 1 800 phone number! It will take you 3-4 minutes to get into the proper cue due to all of the the pre recorded message options (including we continue to experience high call volume), then you go to holding while the music plays. Eventually the voice will tell you there are 12 calls ahead of you. Then you hand up and try again later or another day. I have been trying for several weeks and give up. I have a refund due and the cashier (followed by the courtesy counter help) tells me due to a system change awhile back, they have no ability to look up the date and amount of my credit, but a long time ago as they used to be able to. The only way now is to call home office, find someone and get a pin, which I can then tell a cashier to unlock my credit. But as stated about, you can never get through to customer service. They need more help there and even then help that can address the issue. We shop at both the Middletown store and the Hazlet store; this complaint is about the 1 800 Shoprite phone/home office help. PS, just tried again, after six minutes of being on hold after the initial four minutes of prompts, I get "there are 13 calls ahead of you", this being my fifth time trying and hanging up. Solution: allow the cashiers to get access and apply my credit to my check out order - something they used to be able to do. read more

I live in South Jersey and work in Aberdeen and neither one of those towns shoprites can compare to the cleanliness, always prepared on time and customer service. This ShopRite is fine, but I prefer my local one in East Brunswick! This location is too crowded for me, probably because it was the weekend! I find they do have alot of good food, and are very well stocked! It is super clean, maybe cleaner than the East Brunswick location! The organization of this store to me is just odd! It feels like as you're turning you cart, there's so much extra into where you're going that isn't necessary in the store. It's a little tricky to explain, so I suggest you go to see what I'm talking about! Also, certain staff members were wearing their masks under their nose, and some were talking to each other with their masks under their chin! Not good! This is one of the best Shoprites in our area. I find everything stocked well, good sales and the store is clean. The first thing I do on the way in is grab an ice tea from Dunkin Donuts. This place really has everything under one roof from cooked meals, fresh fish, great produce and meats, Freshpet refrigerator, to large items like you would get at warehouse stores. I have been taking full advantage of their excellent shop from home service. I use my mobile app to shop and it great because you can look up past orders if you buy certain products weekly and add them to your cart. There is a small service fee for them to shop for you but it is so worth it. Plus weekly they have promotions like $30 off of $200 was this weeks. Just watch your circular for these. Suggestions are if you get cold cuts specify in the notes to slice them a certain way, however you like it or they won't be on the thin side. Also ask them to watch expiration dates on meats and dairy. I always ask them to pick the furthest dates out if possible. They will call you if a product is not available to see if you want something else. I've been using this service since Shoprite of HAZLET opened and I definitely recommend. read more

Wow there is nothing else than trailer trash working in here now... And I hate the fact that any special needs employee they hire, they make the poor person push carts outside in all types of weather while they could be doing something else inside the store, like sweeping the floor or organizing garbage. WHAT A SHAME...You are so cruel to these poor people in need. Today I ordered cold cuts online and I got there about 37 minutes after placing the order. The place was empty and the rude old lady in the back told me minimum I have to wait 45 minutes... I said lady there is no one in here how do you mean? She gave me a hard look and made me wait about 12 minutes for my cold cuts, meanwhile she was such a piece of trash that she was making comments towards me to another employee. Then I get to the cash register and this other lady was as rude as the meat clerk... The cashier does not want to take my coupons so I told her to call the supervisor... The heavy set lady took her 3 minutes to walk from her booth to cash register... WHAT IS GOING ON? WE GO HERE TWICE A WEEK... I guess no more... I will take my time and money elsewhere. The store is huge and carries everything I need (mostly) The hot food bar is great for a quick dinner @$5.99 LB but can sometimes be dried out. It goes half price @7pm though if you like a good bargain for a late dinner. I bought the "world class" roast beef sloppy joe sandwich at the half price section near the checkout. It was a good value for $3.50 but I would not pay $6.99. There is not alot of meat on this triple decker. Just sayin' if you are considering it, you may think twice. ds read more

I never shop at this store, but stopped on my way home over the weekend. I was charged twice for 2 plastic chairs and a tomato plant. I stood outside for 30 with no manager coming out to talk to me. There was an issue with the chip readers in the whole store and the cashier said that the manager told her that register 14 showed not transaction going thru, so they would never be posted to my account. Well here I am 4 days later over charged $200 as both these transactions posted. Shame on you Shoprite as I hear this is an ongoing problem with this particular store. read more

Brand new Shop Rite in Hazlet and you can tell they aim to make it an experience, not just grocery shopping. It reminds one of Whole Foods, with the hot/cold buffet offered at the entrance. While looking and not finding Passover items, I asked for help at the Customer Service Desk - and was amazed at the disrespectful and rude behavior of the middle age woman manning the desk (Friday 10:30 am)! She said, "well, we probably don't have any Passover items because there aren't many Jewish people around here." I asked to speak to the Manager. When Bill, the grocery manager came to the desk, they were whispering to each other until I stepped up to him and asked the same question. He directed me to a section of the store that did not have the Passover items, so I walked around until I found some. There was a very small selection. There is a very uncaring, un-customer service oriented person in a managerial position. Perhaps the Jewish community should shop at a grocery store that serves our needs. read more

I believe this is the best supermarket on the shore, and perhaps the best in NJ. I will go out of my way to visit this ShopRite for their outstanding selection, quality and prices. I credit the Saker family for giving us this jewel of a supermarket. Show me another supermarket that regularly plays "God Bless America" at the door! I LOVE IT! The Saker family's pride in America and what they do is obvious from the moment you enter the store. I would NEVER have dreamed of buying an electric generator or topsoil from a supermarket, but I found BOTH at this ShopRite at prices that seemed almost unbelievable. Produce? Check! Baked goods? Check! Frozen foods? Check! Organic? Check? They have it ALL at the best prices in the area. Best of all (IMHO), they have a real fish monger and the best seafood selection I've seen outside of Manhattan. As far as their crew, you will be sure to notice that the same faces are there day after day. Compared to other supermarkets, they are clearly a happy team. Whenever I've had a question or couldn't find a specific item, I've had "Will" at my beck and call. He's been there from the first day I visited this supermarket. He's amazing! Second time at shoprite in Hazlet couldn't find parking in handicap or regular in the lot so mom had to walk from McDonald's to the store with her walker at 81 years old. No more registers open just for the elderly. And when I tried to speak to someone was told "well its a public lot" so when she falls who do I sue? Customer service clerks are nasty everytime. Isles are way to small store is packed all the time people just walk in front of your car. Or park in front of the store in the fire lane. For now on I will be shopping at stop and shop or BJ's. They don't know they're own policies and have the wrong signs posted infront if the store claiming the govenor executive order states you can't return an item unless overriding from the manager, when senate passed the law that during a state of emergency you can't return items unless the manager overrides it. Clerk pushed the item that was cleary never opened so far off the counter I had to catch it before hitting the floor. Should have let it fall.thwy are rude and incompetent. read more
