We got a no smoking room, but since this is a smoking casino there really is no way to avoid the smell. It's everywhere and on everything. People were smoking in the hall outside our room. If you love weird and shady people possibility doing drug deals in the parking lot; this is the place for you. If you like walking over the river and through the woods to get to the pool and dinning; this is the place for you. I seriously don't mind a good jaunt. HOWEVER, I did NOT like having to go through the smoked filled and loud casino with creepy drunk folks staring at my kids just to get to an over priced buffet (so SOOoo so glad we did NOT have to pay for our stay here). Honestly, I am not a picky person when it comes to hotels. I like 3 simple things. Clean, quite and good guest service. I can even look over some things if I get good guest service ... But I did NOT! I couldn't find a single place where it gave a check out time??? Most places are 11 or noon, I assume. But, I wanted to be sure. Called front desk. It rings... And rings ... And rings. Finally someone picks up only to hang up. I call 4 more times and it goes to call waiting So, I call the 800 reservation number. Guess what? After going through the automated touch service I get front desk!!! Imagine that! Dude on the phone sounds like he's probably 20 and stoned chopping on his munchies! I WISH I were kidding. I am not. Check out is at 11! I ... I .. .... Yeah *shakes head* Don't go here. The shower is terrible. The beds are not the greatest and they have these weird little pillows. The coffee was odd. It's cool that it was a kuregg. Not cool that the coffee was awful. It was really weird that there was a sign in our room asking to call front desk to dispose syringes . Apparently they have a large population of diabetics that stay there that they need to accommodate??? It's really ashame, though. The actual look of the rooms aren't that bad. I've been in worse. Someone clearly put thought into it. .... SOoooooo glad my husband got a bunch of free hand sanitizer spray at his conference. I sanitized the shit out of everything! And now I have smokers lung for the next few days. Boooooo!

I don't gamble myself (at least not at casinos) so I can't comment on the games or slots. What I can comment on is the great service from the hotel and especially the events staff. We had a terrific banquet for a very reasonable cost and the people who helped us couldn't have been nicer or easier to deal with. The location is good for us and there's plenty of golf nearby (which was a big factor for a lot of our attendees) for all handicaps and needs. The facility was clean and the rooms were good. This isn't a four or five star hotel so don't expect 900 thread count sheets or marble floors in the bathroom. All I can say is that if you're planning an event, Shooting Star is a great place to have it.
