The actual owner was there and she walked me through the process-awesome lady named Sandy! SInce I was traveling, it was suggested to paint with acrylic so I could take it home with me right away. There are about 50 or more items to paint that were mostly hand molded right in the store! There were so many options for paint colors, sponges, paint brushes and tools to create my masterpiece. On the walls were a local artists paintings as well. This only enhanced the bright and colorful decor of the studio. Glazed and Amused is part of a Friday morning art crawl, which is why the local art was displayed. I love to support local businesses and artists even when traveling!

I went in looking for a sketchbook and came out with a new turquoise blue coffee mug, a scarf and a wish list a mile long ...oh, and I got my sketchbook! There is a lovely selection of original artwork, prints and blank greeting cards. I did also pick-up a couple of cards that featured the paintings I was admiring. We only visit Walker a couple of times a year but now I may have to make extra visits specifically to stop at the Peculiar Painter!

Little ones can touch/interact with stuff; my kids love the pipe bubble-maker. Older kids can read/ learn about things. Carl is the BEST docents I've ever come across - his friendliness and passion for teaching/sharing about the animals here makes it that much cooler of a learning experience. Monthly "Prehistoric Paint" sessions $5/member : each month they highlight 3D-print a dino creature that you'll learn about as you paint. It's no-pressure and can be as serious or silly as you want!
