permit says designated clay targets but that is misleading as there is no designated area for clays and no refund on permit

Is his a members only range?

Yeah, you've got to be in the Hunter's Club. That is, you need to have a hunting license.

They really have something for everyone. A nice covered pistol range with targets at 7, 15, 25 and 50 yards. The rifle range is also covered with 50, 100,200, 300 yard targets available. Also there is trap and skeet fields, an indoor and outdoor archery range, and a place for shotgun patterning. The main clubhouse is fairly large and the biannual Gun Bash has some of the best guns around. They host CMP events, trap and skeet clubs, have range days for children and women. Overall they club is very family friendly, and safety is always the first priority at all of the ranges. You can hunt on the club's land during the appropriate seasons, and I have heard talk of building or converting an existing building into an indoor pistol range. Now for the bad. First the website is totally shit, and who thought "ws" for the TDL (top level domain) was a good idea really has no idea. Second, some of the "senior" member are so uptight that shooting with them becomes a chore. I feel as if the Life members think it is their private club, and since you are just a regular year to year member or not 50+, that you are trespassing. Third, every time you go to the range, someone will be there that has/shot every gun, and wants to tell you all about it. Finally, the gun bash tickets are pretty hard to come by for regular members. The "senior" members seem to get all of them, so very few are left over for regular members. But despite of the negatives, I enjoy the club, and it is a fairly decent value. The 2012 dues are $75 a year, but I believe an increase is coming next year. For the most part people are pretty friendly, and facilities are some of the nicest around.

As in all sportsman's clubs, there are a variety of members, many friendly and good to work with, some not. But with maxed out membership of about 1,500 and shooting sports for everyone, as well as tons of volunteer opportunities to make things better, I look at it all with a much more positive attitude than that other poster. Come out and shoot with us on an open to public time and see for yourself. If you need help ask, if you don't want help just be a safe shooting sportsman or be prepared to get help so that the rest of us are safe. Well, some major changes as senior officer resigned this past month after an intense audit found major holes in his accounting of funds (cash), which was suspected for many years. Sad when someone you trust doesn't have the backbone to be honest and simply resigns rather than have to explain his dubious actions. But the club is now better off and will move forward under new management, with stricter accounting policies to limit this type of activity in the future. Still a great sportsman's club, and I highly recommend it!

The range side staff were also friendly and professional. I really only have two complaints, one of which is minor, I have never been to a range that didn't sell "standard silhouette" targets. My 2nd complaint is the reason I doubt I'll ever shoot there again. While bringing my young son, I need an environment where I can communicate range instructions (even though he is a competent shooter). While on the firing line, the concussion from the clowns 2 lanes to our right firing an MSR with a muzzle brake made using the facility nearly unbearable. It would never even occur to me to use a muzzle brake in an indoor range, there should be a rule against it. If this places bans muzzle brakes, I'll change rating to 5 stars and come back and shoot there, I loved everything about this place except the inconsiderate toolbags shooting next to us.
