This is actually a review for Shonnard's Landscape Services not the retail shop. I am actually not a customer of Shonnard's Landscape Services, but I saw something the other day that made me want to send this review. These are professionals. I was driving along Crystal Lake Drive, and a crew from Shonnards was doing some maintenance. I observed their crew using a power blower to blow debris BACK INTO THE BEDS instead of blowing debris farther into the street like so many other landscape maintenance folks seem to do. Often the mow-blow-go guys just blow all the clippings into the street even though it violates city code and is just obnoxious. I'm going to refrain from naming names of other landscape service providers that do this, but maybe I'll write some reviews soon and call 'em out on it if they don't stop. I've even seen downtown businesses blowing leaves into the street. Shame on them. If I needed some landscape maintenance services, I would call up Shonnard's just for this one thing I observed because it shows they care. Thank you Shonnard's! read more

If you are considering hiring their landscape department for work make sure you get a written estimate and keep track of charges. I had a shock from the verbal estimate to the final bill with no updates to costs provided them. read more

We love Sonnards! It's are favorite spot to buy plants. Their plants are healthy and happy.

They have a decent selection of houseplants but their customer service was awful. I found 2 different varieties of a plant and asked a passing employee if I could ask her a houseplant question. She agreed. So I asked what the difference was between the two and she said she didn't know and walked away! Another employee behind the counter offered to look it up. She looked up the first one then the other. Then she told me that there was no difference. I could see the photos on the monitor and there was a definite difference! Giving up I needed a certain perennial and a third employee offered to show me where it was. She took me to them, said 'there they are' and walked away. Good thing I didn't have any questions! I buy a LOT of houseplants, bedding plants, trees, and perennials but not at Shonnard's. read more

From the owner Joel to the irrigation team and landscaping design team, customer appreciation and service is dismal. Irrigation team missed multiple issues and did not provide any proactive feedback. After multiple calls a supervisor scheduled a visit. His visit was obviously an irritation to him, although he was able to "sell" additional work, ultimately performed by the original crew. The (initial) incomplete work was completed at no charge and the new work was billed, however the bill was greater than expected for the amount of time. Questions regarding the bill were directed to the owner after paying the bill and he chose to laugh as he brushed it off as a customer who is not happy with Shonnards. There is hopefully more appreciative venders nearby. read more

Called ahead to see if what I wanted was available and in stock. I asked the person on the phone in laughable detail if they had the EXACT item that I wanted since it was a bit of a drive for me to get there and most other nurseries didn't have the item. I got there and of course, they didn't have what I was told they had. It was a horrible drive to get there and almost got rear-ended by a poor driver while turning into Shonnard's driveway. It was a horrible experience and I was NOT going to pay 10 times more for something I didn't need that was available for less at stores closer to my location. When I called them, they honestly told me they didn't have what I wanted. No knowledge in this place. Avoid! read more

I love this nursery! My partner and I moved here from Portland a few months ago, and have been here countless times for seeds, plants, and compost. We've spent a lot of time here browsing and chatting with the employees, all of which are incredibly knowledgeable about pretty much everything they sell. Last month I spent probably 15 minutes talking to a super awesome employee (can't remember her name agh! She was mid 20s with blonde hair) about mason bees and creating a healthy habitat for them. I learned a lot. The prices are pretty decent for a local nursery too. My only complaint - the music they play is awful. Like early 2010s pop exclusively. All the Pink and Katy Perry and Bruno Mars seems to clash with the nursery vibes. Maybe it's just the times that I've visited, but I've been there a lot haha. In all seriousness though I can't recommend this place enough! Amazing selection of indoor and outdoor plants/supplies and a great staff. read more

I really like the selection of fruit trees here. Not only do they have a large amount of available trees, they are rather tall and in really great shape. Prices aren't bad either. read more

I am extremely disappointed with their honeybee department. I bought a Carniolan queen from the store three weeks ago. Just checked the hive, they are superseding the queen there were maybe 60 eggs larvae or capped cells in the whole hive. I called and my response was "they have been having problems with their Carniolans". I asked why did they sell m a queen they were having problems with? The response was come get a new queen. I was also told to combine my hive with another hive. What if I only had one hive? I will not be back or recommending them. Not my first year being a Beek! read more

Such a cute nursery, plenty of selection and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

I'd been putting off buying flowers because I was wanting to buy from a small local shop versus somewhere like Lowe's. I finally made it it Corvallis to stop by here after wanting to come here for awhile. I got so distracted by all the beautiful plants that I ended up walking around outside first, instead of walking through the doors into the inside, therefore missing the hours of operation. It was plenty busy so I didn't think anything of it. Anyways, after about 15-20 minutes of me walking around taking it all in (it's much bigger than I thought it was from just driving by!) I was passed by a female employee who asked if I needed any assistance. I told her I was just looking and she told me to let her know if I needed help with anything later. Not even 1 minute later another female employee walked up to me and said "We're closing so you need to make like a turtle and head out!" Ummm, okay?! There were several other customers walking around so I didn't even think about them closing, especially since it was only 4pm (but after looking at the hours on the door I noticed that's what time they always close- kind of hard for those of us who work to come during the week when hours are only 10-4). But anyways, I would have appreciated if the lady had a better approach about the store closing then her basically kicking me out. Customer service was definitely lacking on her part! I did come back the next day to purchase some of the plants I looked at, but still felt kind of bitter about the incident from the day before. The nice thing is they have lots of plants/flowers, but seem kind of pricey! Like I said, with COVID19 I was trying to support local businesses and that's why I came back. read more

Shonnard's is a nice place to visit any old time because the variety of plants and lovely floral smells are always a feast for the senses. But how often does one get a knowledgeable house call for just a handshake? Today, Matt their very nice plant guy came by and walked through our yard giving advice on pruning and maintenance and then thanked me for letting him come by. Since he wouldn't accept any payment, we'll be sure to get the Coral Bark Maple Tree he suggested from Shonnard's. #CorvSMB read more

Wow. What else can I say? Shonnards has such a great selection. Plants for your yard, trees, planting pots, good soil, and even the occasional lawn furniture. And you know what's even better? Shonnards has some of the friendliest, most cheerful employees I have ever met. So drive out to Philomath, and keep your eyes on the left side of Highway 20, because Shonnards is one nursery you can't miss. ^BR #corvsmb read more

On a follow-up note: it's now been a month and not a single person has contacted me from Shonnard's regarding this ridiculous little plant saucer that was supposed to be ordered. Seems like the female employee gave me a huge run-around and wasted my time...which only confirms what I posted earlier about partnering with a more competent nursery here in town. read more
