Terrible experience with this shop. They engraved my medal, but the engraving was clearly crooked…read more My husband picked it up and didn't notice until he got home to show me, but as a creative director and graphic designer by trade, I could easily tell. I mocked it up in the attached photo (the red lines are all parallel to each other and shown in comparison to the date on the medal). When I called to let the shop know, the man who did the engraving immediately denied that it was crooked without even seeing it. I explained that it was, but he continued to rudely and defensively insist otherwise. His tone was combative and dismissive, and at one point he even said, "Well, what do you want me to do about it??" To make matters worse, he ended the call by saying, "Well, have your husband come back for his $30 then. All this for just $30," in a condescending and dismissive tone, as if the issue wasn't worth his time or care. My husband did end up going back to the shop after my call, and he said that the man and his partner were both doubling down and insisting that the engraving was straight. They even asked two other people waiting in the shop what they thought, and both confirmed that the engraving was indeed crooked! We did get our money back, but in the end, they continued to disagree with my husband, never admitted the engraving was off, and never apologized -- even after others confirmed the crooked work too. Our issue is more with the fact that they were completely unprofessional and unwilling to take any accountability, which is especially disappointing given that this was an irreplaceable, once-in-a-lifetime medal. I would never trust this shop with anything meaningful or sentimental. If you have anything precious or irreplaceable that you need engraved, do not take it here. I was fooled by all the good reviews, and while I can't go back in time to fix it, I'm hoping this review spares someone else the same headache and regret.

I then sent all art files for the engraving before dropping off the knives. I was told again, at the time of drop off, that my request wouldn't be a problem. After a couple of days, i received a photo of what was done. One was done with the sample art I had sent which was not part of the actual request, and another was ruined entirely because a different method of engraving was used. So far 2 knives were ruined and unusable. It's as if they were "figuring it out" rather than just be honest about their capabilities. They told me to come back with new knives so they can redo them. No thanks.

Me and my girlfriend wanted something special to celebrate a memorable date we had at a park where we watched ducks for hours, and then I was able to find Alberoni. He told us hand engraving was the way to go and even gave us a great price after we told him our story. After telling us about some of his past work and sharing past pieces that were beautifully done, we knew he was our man, honest and blunt about what we would get and what we were paying for. He did an amazing job on our signet rings, even better than I could've hoped! The detail was very precise, just like the picture! The engraving is great quality and built to last, I am constantly working or doing community service and despite my carelessness the images stand strong! I'm so happy me and my woman are now able to memorialize a very special day and memory. Alberoni's is the only engraver I trust and I can wait to take future pieces to him!

This guy does GREAT work. Alberoni took a look at e-mailed pics of the design and our ring, and said "sure, does next Tuesday work for you?" And the result was GREAT. Exactly what we'd hoped for, executed beautifully. It can be a little hard to find the studio - I mean, not locating-the-lost-city-of-the-Incas hard, but he's located in a warren of the jewelry district that does not seem to see too many folks from outside the jewelery business. But then again, once you're there, you sort of feel like an insider in the biz, just 'cause you know he's there. Four stars (instead of five) because he doesn't actually take credit cards, which seems a little archaic in this day and age. He does take PayPal, though, that's something (as well as cash and checks, of course). Overall, I would not hesitate to take something to Alberoni again.
