I wanted to see the item I was purchasing prior to the purchase and not just the pictures and description online. Before driving the 1/2 hour to the store, I called the Gadsden Store (256-439-6260) six times to see if the item I wanted was in stock. Despite all my efforts, I could only reach the automated answer line and was stuck holding on it. I was never able to contact a live associate at the Gadsden Store. Thinking the store may be closed, I called the Academy Customer Service Number (888-922-2336) two times. I was again stuck with an automated answer line and left holding. I then called the Trussville Alabama Store (205-661-5500). Wow, a real human answered the phone. I was informed that the Gadsden Store was open. I asked to leave my contact information and for the District Manager to return my call. I was put on hold and another associate came on the line. They stated they had attempted to call both the Gadsden Store and the District Manager and were unable to contact them. This entire episode is a terrible reflection on Academy Sports + Outdoors and their customer service. If I am not valued as a customer, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I took them back today and the Manager, Allie (I probably misspelled that, sorry), was amazing. She helped me with numerous pairs of boots till we found the perfect pair. Despite the fact it was really busy the store was well organized - Men's, women's and children's clothing all had it's space making it easy to shop for what you're after. Shelves were not at capacity as people were stocking up from current sales and Christmas time gifts. Several sales could be found throughout the store. The store itself was very clean and easy to navigate (things weren't crammed inside). Checkout line were exceptionally long and it took some time to make a purchase as a lot of people had pretty good stacks of items they were purchasing. The staff were following Covid standards, wearing masks and disinfecting as necessary. This location isn't bad and there are other home goods shops in the area, so if you're in the mood to do some shopping you can make a little bit of a day out of it. If you like Old Navy brand this would be a good store for you to visit.

Prices are the same as other locations and if you know your prices they have some good deals. They may not compete with the Walmarts of the world as far as inventory/selection and pricing ... but they are intended for super convenient, reasonably priced shopping options and this location certainly delivers on all of that. Thank you, Cathy! We found a small amount of what I wanted, but unfortunately, my timing was a little off today. Apparently this is a popular store that receives both person-to-person handoff donations plus donations delivered by truck. The store was clean and well organized and the majority of the employees were helpful. Oh and the prices of my purchases were definitely reasonable. I'll be back and I hope my timing is better next time. :)

At 7:45 I went into TJ's to get gas said I needed $10 worth of gas because I was on a half a tank and went ahead and paid for it and because she was in such a hurry to close down and check the gas fuel . She was a total bitch because she had to give me $2.50 back and all I had asked her would it go back on my debit card. She jumped down my throat told me that's why we just let people go ahead and put gas in their car so we don't have to give money back and I said I'm sorry that I messed your day up but I had no idea it'll mess the register up well most places are set up if it don't all go in. The credit card it will automatically go back on your credit card not my fault but I asked her I said are you the owner do you always treat your customers this way she said no I'm not the owner but she feels the same damn way .
