She told me about this place, so I figured I'd give it a try. I honestly thought it was probably going to be pretty expensive to get them fixed. The owner is super personable, got them done really quick, and his prices are very reasonable. The bottom was coming off, so he glued it back into place and replaced the bottom of the heel. He did such an amazing job! I'm happy with how they turned out and definitely glad I brought them here. I would recommend this place if you need your boots or shoes repaired.

The owner worked on my boots immediately, showing me what he planned to use before starting, and did extras--like polishing the upper and the stacked leather part of the heels on my Stingray cowboy boots--and brushed and polished each boot. I'm going back next week with my 35-year-old Hornback Alligator boots that need a lot of work (soles, heels, and refinishing). They were a gift from someone I loved, and I'll wear them until I go into the ground; however, I'd only trust Doe River Leather Works to make this repair perfectly.

These folks are amazing! I don't trust my western boots to just anyone, but I was very much in…read moreneed of having my old favorites re-soled and re-heeled. I couldn't find anyone at all near me in Kings Mountain, Shelby, or Gastonia. Some places would do minor repairs, but this is substantial work on not-so-cheap boots, so I wanted someone good! I called several places I saw online, and I read every review I found for those places. I ended up choosing Fine Shoe Repair, but because they are about 45 minutes away, I couldn't get there during their business hours. So I called him, discussed my needs, and shipped my boots off to him. A week or so later, they come back looking brand new! Amazing work. First class service from someone who takes pride in what he does. I would recommend him to anyone for boot repairs. If you have to ship your items to be repaired, I recommend taking pictures of what you need and sending them to him via Facebook so he can give you his (more than fair) price for the work. When you send them, make your check out for the price he quotes you, plus the amount you pay in postage so he can ship them back to you the same way. This business is more than accommodating and they want to meet your needs, but they certainly exceed most standards!

I had a mixed experience. I called for a quote on a simple bridesmaid dress but was told to come…read morein. After giving them my dress, they quoted $300 for hem, waist, and bust alterations. The hem (2-3 layers) alone was $250, with the rest $50. When I asked, they said hems start at $150. Why not say that over the phone, then? Other bridesmaids paid around $60 for hems, so that price felt excessive. After a 10% discount and scaling back the work to bust, waist, and only one hem layer, I paid $211. The finished dress fit very well, and the seamstress actually hemmed all layers at no extra charge, which I appreciated. Turnaround was also fast (about 1-2 weeks). However, when I picked it up I noticed a large snag in the chiffon. The front desk said, "You already paid for it, so..." before taking it to the seamstress, which was concerning given their strict policies: full payment required BEFORE work begins, and NO fit adjustments without additional charges (unless a hem comes loose.) The seamstress fixed the snag, though. They were vague in their texts and commitment to providing a good result. I wanted to protect myself, so I asked "If I gain or lose 0 weight, it'll fit as pinned, correct?" And only then, did they give me an explicit "Yes." The policies are not customer friendly, their room for accountability was very limited, and the pricing was high compared to other shops, though the final workmanship and turnaround were good. The business might a fit for convenience/people who have money to lose. OR they are a small business that's been burned before and has now adopted broad policies and protections.
