Well I've been feeling like I haven't really been getting shoes that fit properly but also thought as I get older, foot pain and discomfort come with the territory. While walking around Holland, MI today my wife suggested that we stop by since we had nothing else to do but enjoy the downtown area. Cory met us as we entered and offered to help if he could. I had spotted a pair that I liked (color and design) and he asked my size. While he went to get them we browsed the store some. As we talked about different brands and which had the best arch support, he took me to school! I don't think I have had anyone measure my foot since my Mom took me to get shoes 40+ years ago. I've been buying the same size for decades now. Cory took several measurements and suggested that a different size might work better for me. He showed me how much things have changed since I became set in my ways. I tried on 3 different styles of tennis/ walking shoes that were nowhere on my radar. All 3 pairs felt light years better immediately. They all had a different feel about them in the way my foot seated in them, but all were extremely comfortable. Cory is trained to fit shoes correctly and I am so glad my wife suggested we stop. Yes, I bought all three pair and of course I wore a pair out. Customer service. I was asked three times by the same person if they could help me while shopping…read moretoday. I said no thank you. I'm just looking. I ended up finding a couple of pairs of shoes, and I wanted to also purchase some footies but the style I wanted were on a row too high for me to reach. I approached the employee who was standing behind the counter at the register near me, and who had previously offered to help me. I asked her if she could help me get the socks from the top row down and she mumbled, "sure I'll have to jump but I can try." I told her there was no reason to jump that I could have done that but I pointed to a ladder on wheels a few feet away and said I thought you could use that. There was a young man stocking but he wasn't using it at that moment. She got up on the ladder and I had to repeat myself a couple of times as I told her the ones that I wanted to see. She got the socks, pushed the ladder back to the other employee and mumbled something under her breath as she went back to the register. While I was trying to decide if I wanted the socks she asked me if I wanted already and did I just want the shoes. I tossed the socks on the counter away from my shoes, and said "I guess so. I wanted to see some other socks but I guess that's not an option" my sarcasm was lost on her. She said, "so just the shoes?" And she started to ring me up, but I was so put off by her attitude that I said, "never mind. I'll buy these on line instead." She stood there acting surprised and not understanding what had just happened. She was rude and I'm not going to spend my money in a store where someone is making smart Alec comments to me and mumbling under their breath as they walk past me. I was one of maybe three people in the store and it was about 30 minutes after they had opened so it wasn't a situation where she had been working all day and was tired. I've been there before and that same employee was behind the register making wise cracks. I can ignore that sometimes but not today. Someone else can have my business and my money. I love Skechers and will continue to buy them but not from this shop.

I'm sorry I can't remember her name but she made a great impression, and when she did need to leave and transfer me to another co-worker, Ivan, they worked together smoothly to make sure I still had what I needed. Ivan worked very patiently to get all of my info transferred even though the system bumped us out several times.
