I was so excited to check out Shockoe Bottom Clay and they did not disappoint. I was peering into their windows on Tuesday, bumped into a couple ladies who were also in town for the NCECA Pottery conference and I was wishing they were open so I could go in! No worries, I made it back Friday evening before close and just loved all the ceramic art I saw! I bought several pieces- love love love my new utensil canister made by Daniel Christie- I loved the glaze on all his pots! I found a mug first, but traded up for the canister. And Lisa Fleet stole my heart between a gorgeous glazed stemless wine cup (that's what I am going to use it for) and a kitty mug~ because Meow! Great prices too- I was able to buy 3 pieces and could've spent so much more there! I really loved going upstairs to the artists spaces and next door for the gallery showing. Fabulous! Absolutely fabulous artists! I didn't take pictures of the carved lidded pots- that had holes in the lids! So fun! And I adored the wall flowers- crazy gifted artists at Shockoe!

Love love love supporting local artists! Not only what you buy is handmade, but it's also very useful in our day to day lives. Of course, depending on what you buy. This store is so dangerous, it's makes you wanna buy everything- if you appreciate handmade clay work. I've come here multiple times and every time I do, I end up leaving with something in hand. They're all very talented artists and very opened to all parts of their studio. If you get lucky, you'll meet one of the artist's dog Rosa. She's the sweetest! I'll def. be coming back and hopefully my kitchen will be filled with their work~ This place is filled with natural lighting and very opened! Will be back in the near future

It isn't cheap, but a lot of it is artisan-made. The Gallery is located inside the hotel, it's a mix of a gift shop and a gallery. The Gallery itself is down some stairs in the gift shop section and also near some windows on the same level as the gift shop. They always have rotating artists. In the past, the downstairs part only had art up, but it now looks like they're putting up some things to sell as well. It's free to visit, so if you don't want to buy anything that's ok. The people who work here are always super welcoming and kind. I highly recommend stopping by.

This was one of the first stores in the area to carry reproduction Miriam Haskell jewelry. The owners also produce a few of their own items including pop-art-ish plates with silhouettes on them and tote bags featuring prints of old Richmond postcards. I've also seen funky cameras, felt handbags, earrings made from recycled tin and a selection of note cards and stationery that always makes it hard to leave without something. Most recently I'm in love with the little reusable cloth sandwich and snack bags featuring bold patterns; the glass water bottles and wine glasses that are made to resemble their plastic counterparts; and the wooden "Not Plastic Cutlery" that comes in packaged in a cloth napkin. The fun selection makes this a great place for buying gifts or just treating yourself. If you're there to shop, make sure you check out the front of the store and the room in back behind the main gallery display. There's lots of good stuff waiting for you.

I've had some friends have their art here, it's wonderful how they support local artists. They also have live shows with local musicians too. While they do have paid memberships for co-working and social club benefits, they do open it to the general public from time to time. They also do private events. I went to a wedding in December here. It was a lovely venue for an intimate wedding. I found it strange that they decided to paint the walls the same morning of the wedding though. I did love having the chance to explore the different floors. Their interior design here is gorgeous. They offer a game room with a pacman game and pool table, a cigar lounge, coworking spaces, a bar and an art gallery. I love how unique each room is too. I would highly recommend checking this place out.

They have 4 floors and a bar downstairs with awesome bartenders. Only members are allowed on the top 3 floors, but you can get a tour while you're there and check it all out (highly recommend it, the top floors are the coolest parts of the building). There's a fancy pool table on the second floor, board games (big Connect 4), an array of really eclectic items to look at on the walls, and comfy couches everywhere! They also have 2 cigar rooms with windows that open up to Broad St, where you can sit and take it all in. It's such a cool space!
