I have had the symptoms of manic depression since I was 12 years old. Diagnosed with full blown…read morebipolar disorder about 15 years back. Started treatment with meds; finally got a working cocktail about 4 years back. In those 15-years I learned that not everyone woke up in the morning to hear a voice ask "Do I want to live or die today?" The meds evened me out but did not keep my head above water. Still walked around dark, gloomy, angry, annoyed, tired with the occasional curl up in bed for 28-days or desire to start a berserker brawl in a police bar. The peaks were still there just for shorter periods of time. Finally heard about K. Read up and finally took the needle at Ketamine Treatment Center of Princeton. The staff is friendly, pleasant, knowledgeable, empathetic, caring, and professional. You have an initial consult with the Doctor who assesses your ability to benefit from the therapy. You then schedule your first treatment. At each session, you first meet with the Doctor who conducts a brief interview to assess your mood and decide on dosage. The Doctor and the Nurse check your vitals and administer the IV. You can ask for the room to be bright or dark, recline the chair, get a blanket, play with your iPad (they have WiFi), listen to music - you get the idea. A piece of advice, do not email, IM or text during the treatment. The IV is started and the treatment begins. The sensations are interesting. Certainly unlike anything I had experienced before; I am not addicted to K but I do not mind going to the appointments. Make sure you let the effects disappear completely before standing up or operating heavy machinery. You are interviewed by the Doctor at the end of the treatment for a before and after comparison. The after is often significantly better than the before. The treatments are cumulative (the effects last longer the more infusions you have) so your appointments space further and further apart. This is different for each person. Using a scale of -10 to +10, where -9 is depression requiring immediate medical intervention and +10 is the aforementioned bar brawl, I lived my life at -4; it was hard, it sucked, and it cost me friends, jobs, and family. After my first 3 K treatments with Drs Levine and Carneval I was around 0. A couple more treatments 3. A couple more treatments +4. I would love to be a chipper peppy cheerleader bubble of sunshine +7 but if I can live the rest of my life at +4 I will be ecstatic. Thanks to KTC Princeton I know that there is relief for some forms of mental illness. If you have long-term serious depression or mania get evaluated by one of the Doctors at KTC Princeton. You will be glad you did if K is right for you.

Unlike previous psychiatrists I've seen, Dr. D actually takes the time to talk to you to better understand your situation and provides real guidance on how to do things better or different. He is considered one of the top experts in OCD in the area and was highly recommended by my psychologist. He even runs a monthly OCD group session. I don't understand the reviews from people saying Dr. D was "over medicating" them. My experience has been the complete opposite. In fact, I am taking half the medication I used to. What I also like about Dr. D is that he doesn't just rely on meds alone. He asks about your sleep, whether you're exercising, and considers many other environmental factors in your treatment. He also has a good sense of humor which is the complete opposite of my previous psychiatrists. Highly recommended!

Though my time spent with…read morehim has not been to the level of years as some other patients who have left reviews, I have never been more joyful about finding the right doctor. He does not boast, however he is extremely intelligent. He likes to allow his patients to think and advocate for themselves, and draw their own conclusions, with some guidance. He is excellent at challenging his patients, which if you are anything like myself, is much needed and eventually greatly appreciated. To those of you neigh sayers that have left reviews about being quick to assess, being a waste of time and money, and quick to medicate, I invite you to rethink your experience with Dr. Donnellan. Do we not all quickly assess a situation when it is thrust upon us, whether right or wrong? Second- your time, your money. Trust me, he makes your time worthwhile whether you see it quickly or it takes a bit. Medication- stop and think how long it may take to find the right combination. You have to start somewhere, and proceed with what works and what may not work. Give yourself and Dr. D some patience, and you will start to see a difference. Overall, I could not recommend a better listener, positive instigator, and excellent clinician. If you are willing to change, and put the effort into doing so, Joseph Donnellan is the right fit for you.

My experience with Dr. Brian Pell deserves to be publicly documented so others know exactly what…read morethey are walking into. I booked an appointment specifically for an ADHD assessment, clearly stated as such. That was the entire purpose of the visit. Yet, during the call, Dr. Pell casually informed me that they are not conducting ADHD assessments at this time and may resume, possibly in January or February of next year. This immediately raised a red flag: if you are not offering the service, why accept an appointment for it? Why bill insurance for something you never intended to provide? The entire interaction lasted 18 minutes, and not a single part of it resembled an evaluation. Instead, we spent the bulk of the time discussing my career. He asked about my former psychiatrist's nationality; he seemed very interested in why he didn't take insurance "as a Black doctor" (which I perceive as a common conflation between race and poverty). He then asked only two quick, surface-level questions about why I was seeking an ADHD assessment. Then in the same breath that he told me they are not doing assessments, he also told me that I probably do not have ADHD. He said this despite the fact that I was coming to him for a second opinion after already completing a comprehensive, legitimate ADHD evaluation with a diagnosis from an actual specialist. (I did not share I was coming in for a second opinion, as I didn't want it to be biased). He provided no testing, no structured questions, no clinical methodology, nothing that even remotely resembled evidence-based practice. The whole thing felt dismissive, and frankly, like a complete waste of my time. I left the appointment feeling misled and deeply uncomfortable, as insurance had been billed for a service that was never delivered. If you are seeking serious mental health care, diagnostic clarity, or responsible clinical practice, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This experience felt unhelpful and entirely out of alignment with what any patient should expect from a licensed provider.

I was 100% convinced I didnt have the strength, courage or will power to stop taking opiates. That all changed September 7, 2014, my 1st meeting with Doctor Russ. He immediately put me at ease, spent well over 2 hours understanding my situation, and discussing his process and care he will provide to safely get me off opiates forever. I knew I had finally found the right Doctor as he genuinely cares about his patients and goes to "above and beyond" to ensure their success in overcoming addiction. I had met with 3 different, highly rated Doctors in NYC, who spent 10 minutes with me, prescribed Suboxone, with no further instructions or counseling. Each time I relapsed, and fell further into my addiction Doctor Russ explained his process, and the importance of following it for a successful outcome. Additionally he educated me on Suboxone and how and when to consume for ideal results. He coupled medicine with counseling, which was the key to his success rates. He is very humble, and doesnt share that he has the highest success rates with no relapses. He cares more about helping you understand and overcome the reason that lead to your addiction. As our sessions continued he prescribed and anti-depressant as I was in denial of how much my depression was sabotaging my life. As our sessions continued, I realized, he was dedicated to ensuring not only my success in overcoming my addition, but also rebuilding an enriched life. I find it amazing how he is able to remember and build upon each of our sessions. I thank God every day for Doctor Russ. He listens, never judges, provides guidance to build a great life and never watches the clock. I have gone well over my scheduled hour, and never received additional billing, I have been opiate free for 4 years, and continue weekly sessions as they make me a better person. In summary, Doctor Russ saved my life and to this day, provides the incredible insights and counseling to rebuilding a better life and self.

He is purely transactional -- zero talk theapy. Far worse, he is absolutely negligent. On many occassions he has ghosted me for weeks -- not filing prescriptions that I depend on for my emotional well-being (which is borderine criminal). He should have his licenses stripped from him. PLEASE AVOID THIS INDIVIDUAL at all costs. To show what kind of person he is, he once held me "hostage" while coercing me to write a 5-star review. I suspect that many of the 5-star reviews shown here are artificial. Completely unethical. Please be careful. Follow-up edit: He emailed me in response to my post within 5 minutes, while it takes him over a week on occassion to respond to a refill request. This shows that he is only concerned with optics as opposed to providing a high level of service. Further, his business manager responded (within 10 minutes) with an iilegal post (i'd suspect?), referencing a category of medicine that violates doctor-patient confidentiality.
