It is also right next to the beautiful Bradgate Park with tons of deer and history, if you were wanting a healthy stroll after cake!

First the good - the owners are a really friendly and sociable couple - from Lithuania it turns out. Really nice people. The place is spotlessly clean, and not busy. Also a cute old water mill (and a stuffed fox that a local kid found an eye-catcher) encased in glass as you walk in. The drinks were OK (we both had cider) however the food offerings could benefit from a little more love. The yelp page shows a link to menu but it does not work :(

A large well set out car park leads you to the entrance, with its magnificent working water wheel - a great window into its past life as a working water mill. The bar has an informal type setting, large comfy sofas, and an eclectic mix of different type tables. Along with the roaring open fire, it all adds to the sociable, chilled out and relaxed feel of the Mill Wheel. A variety of bar snacks and a good range of hot of cold drinks, make it an ideal place to have lunch. The upstairs restaurant area has more formal classical air to it. Bathed with light during the day, it has a very contemporary feel. The menu is a la carte and has a great variety of different dishes, which are refreshed with daily and weekly specials. Although there is a deal on two courses from a restricted menu, the restaurant is still fairly pricey. The food is of a high quality though, the vegetarian Lasagne with a Swiss Chard base and the lamb tagine are particular favourites. Some of the dishes can be a bit style over substance though, but on the whole the food is full of flavour and very individual. A great place to go for a special occasion.

Having read the previous reviews and needing a place to go and celebrate our wedding anniversary,…read morewe decided to give the Old Vicarage a try. The Old Vicarage is a grand looking building adjacent to a church in Branston, on the edge of Burton. The whole place as you entered had a touch of class, from relaxing in a lounge area to choose your dishes to being shown to your table only when the starters were ready, we knew we had made the right choice. We had chosen the three course option (£21.95 + supplements), and were shown into an opulent dining area with large tables, amply spaced and tastly furnished. My starter of mixed terrine including guinea fowl and rabbit, with melba toast and a sweet chutney was tasty, without being startling. The main course and dessert however, were a different story. The main of monkfish and prawns in a chilli and garlic based linguini was full of flavour, whilst my wife's seabass was cooked to perfection. Our desserts of lemon tart and a trio of chocolate desserts were arguably even better, probably the nicest white chocolate I have ever eaten! The pacing of the courses was just right and the waiting staff were friendly and helpful. Finishing off with petit fours and coffee in the lounge, it felt like the special occasion we wanted it to be. The Old Vicarage is not cheap, but serves great food in wonderful surroundings.

I had heard a lot of good reviews about this place so finally decided to try it out this Saturday…read moreevening. Being on the very busy London road, it is definitely located in one of Leicester's prime locations. The restaurant is well known for its sizzlers ie. Sizzling steak being served on a hot griddle! It has become quite a common trend here with the steak being presented on a bed of hand cut chips, vegetables and rice. I opted for the Sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce. I love the variety of steak sauces/gravies they offer compared to other steak houses! These include garlic, schezuan, mushroom and gravy sauces - something to please anyones tastebuds! The Sirloin was described in the menu as one of the most tender pieces... I like my meat quite soft however, I found this quite chewy and very difficult to cut and eat. This was quite a let down and it was not just me who had this issue, everyone in my group also felt the same! Very disappointing. They only give a handful of chips and the rice is very basic... I have had this steak concept at other similar steakhouses in the vicinity and I have to say, this was a huge let down! We also tried the sliders platter which I loved as the sizes were perfect and we got to sample their three top burgers in mini versions. Flavour wise it was good but maybe due to experience, I expected better? Service was quite slow due to the restaurant being full but I found the waitresses all super friendly and helpful. I loved the fact that they served coca cola in the classic small glass bottles! Overall, I would probably return again but only for sliders or burgers. For steak/sizzler however, I will be sticking to the others as Kobe was also quite overpriced for what they serve.
