Being a cafe that generally means that it opens early, and closes early, which meant that I had to get up early so I could come here for breakfast before work. Well, the menu isn't all that huge, but has a reasonable selection - I had the omlette and I must admit that it was pretty nice. The coffee was also pretty decent - actually the coffee was really good. The cafe itself is in an old back, which means that they have a room in one of the old vaults, which is also pretty cool. Oh, the staff were all right as well.

While my friend got the best ricotta hotcakes I've tried in a long time. I'm so happy she was in the sharing mood!! Some meals came with a half or full serve option which was nice and now I know for next time half will probably be more then enough. The furniture is very sleek and clean feeling... Ikeaish!? But comfortable enough, if only the tables were slightly bigger to accommodate their great portions! Service was quick and friendly. And the treats they have at the counter are close to irresistible!! I'll probably be back every time I'm in the area just to get some more ricotta hotcakes in my belly!

This seems to be one of the only positive aspects of the Business through my previous visit. As mentioned very competitive and populated area around Sun Theatre. The desserts are all outsourced, which is fine yet are clearly not kept or served with care. Cakes are dry and not as you'd least expect. Wine also tasted questionable which I find difficult to understand if it's due to the product itself ( Poor Menu Listing) or contained signs of aerated. [ We had the macadamia cheesecake with a glass of shiraz & rielsing] Staff service. Very poor. Caucasian Male staff member carrying on and walking in and out of the venue during our time spent and then returning with friends who would also allow themselves out back to the kitchen/food prep area and engage in social conversations with younger female staff in what was a clear desperate cry for attention and acceptance as a young male. Conversations could be heard throughout the venue about their desire to go out 'get pissed' and general respect towards other staff non involved in their conversations were very blunt for a team atmosphere. Confronted the staff regarding issues when leaving and was amazed at how quickly their attitude changed when behaviour was addressed. He's response was some what of a child being lectured by a teacher at school which leads me to believe he was full of sh*t when agreeing to his behaviour as poor status and will continue to behave with no care of the business he represents nor self presentation in the future. As mentioned. Venue is great and has potential and poor experience was definitely driven by the team representing the business that evening. I will not be returning.

This time was of the latter, I looked at the menu and was for some reason fixed on the usual boring 'breaky roll'. I had made my decision, closed the menu and kept talking to my wifey who had also made her decision. As we were talking, I saw her do her ever sneaky "checking in on Yelp first" move. I pulled out my phone and accepted defeat but started flicking through the reviews of this cool little cafe in Collingwood. The waitress came over and as is custom, the wifey orders first. As she is ordering I have time to skim over Pheobe L's review and drool over the Salmon breakfast option and the picture to accompany it. Yes my coffee may have been a little average but the food came out. Amazingly cooked Salmon, crispy Rosti, perfect poached eggs.... Mmmmm yum. GAME OVER! Can't wait to go back!

On our recent visit, we found that the cafe has been sold and the new owners have changed the menu and greatly reduced the quality and flavor of the food. I can honestly say that the old avocado toast was the BEST I've ever had with rich flavor, fresh herbs and dukka spice. My recent experience was tasteless with barely ripe avocado and a few meager spouts. It was inedible as were the other three dishes we ordered. This is such a loss for the Melbourne CBD!

The menu was full of mostly sandwiches and burgers, which suited us just fine. I ordered the Roo Burger and my wife the Open Vegie Melt. We were excitedly told about what was in each meal before being told to not worry about paying yet and to grab a seat. I also ordered a strawberry milkshake, which was unfortunately a little disappointing and essentially just a Big M in a glass. I did have it topped up for free while I was half way finished though. We were the only ones in the cafe, but the wait for our food was still quite a bit, but once it did come out I was more than happy. The Open Vegie Melt was big and cheesy and the Roo Burger was absolutely delicious, not too big, but the perfect size to fill me up. The breakfast menu looked to be quite good too, containing all of your standard cafe brekkie items. We were in the area looking for a new house, so I hope that I'll be able to head back soon to try out more of what's on offer!
