The Shipwreck Tours are awesome. Me and my family went and we got into a glass bottom boat. Unluckily for us Lake Superior was having some rough tide and nobody wanted to be in a sunken ship of the tour so we only got to go into the Bay Area it was in. A two-hour tour of several shipwreck sites, and some of the shore and island around them. Having only passed through Munising before, I enjoyed some of the background of the area as well as seeing the shipwrecks through a glass-bottomed boat. My 17 year old loved it, and she pointed out that glass-bottom tours are common "throughout the world." This is the first one I was on, and found it entertaining. A tip is to decide where you want to sit on the boat, depending on the weather. There is the adults-only bow, where you are not supposed to stand. It is good if it is not too hot and sunny for your liking. It does have a lot of breeze to cool you. Being in back upstairs can be hot with little cooling if the sun is shining on you. If the weather is bad, you can sit below-deck (where the glass bottom is). There is also a front section below without a glass bottom where you can sit, and probably will if the weather is bad. My family made several purchases in the gift shop. Our dog was well taken care of in the free kennel at the side of the building. They provided a nice bowl of water for her. read more

This was so, so much fun. I was going to go out on the tour on a Monday, but the wind cancelled all the boat tours in the area. I decided to book another hotel night just for the shipwreck tour the next day. I'm so glad I did! The crew was fantastic, full of fun facts. And we got within 6-8 ft. of the wrecks. So very cool! Very much enjoyed this cruise when we took it to see the shipwrecks. It got a little choppy on the water, so they decided to return and we saw 3 out of 4 shipwrecks. Nice thing is they give you a portion of the price you paid as a refund, since you weren't able to experience the full tour. That is a nice touch since most places don't do that. read more

I took 4-teenagers (boys and girls). They loved it. The ride out to the shipwrecks were just beautiful. The water was so calm and looking over Grand Island was one of my favorite highlights, of course, besides the shipwrecks. The narration was excellent. So much knowledge on the shipwrecks and the area. They do a great job to make sure you can see the shipwrecks for all riders on the boat. Again, you can bring snacks and drinks. It's nice to have. We had a great time on the Glassbottom Shipwreck tour in Munising, Michigan. To begin, their website was very user friendly and I was able to reserve spots on the date and time we wanted. The day was absolutely perfect for a boat ride on Lake Superior, the largest of all the Great Lakes. Our captain and our narrator were friendly and did fantastic jobs of giving some quite fascinating facts and views of the wrecks. The trip back was very tranquil and the music was fun. We would definitely recommend taking this tour to anyone in the area, perhaps while vacationing in the Upper Peninsula at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. read more

We were at the Air BNB right next door so for us it was extremely easy to get to. The crew was very friendly and knowledgeable. The ship wrecks were nice, we were definitely able to see the second one better than the first one. They do two groups so not everyone is crammed together to try and look at the wrecks. What a relaxing ride! Two hours out on Lake Superior, bathrooms on-board (anyone with a five-year-old like mine knows how much of a bonus that can be), and the chance to see something that you really only get to see in books or on TV most of the time. On the negative, I was surprised that there were "only" two viewing ports in the main area of the boat--but for the positive, not only was the view really clear, the captain floated the wrecks so we got to see the entirety of both wrecks. And some other cool stuff. I thought we'd just go over them, but each group (they divided us into three groups and gave every group a turn at the viewing panels) got to float the wrecks and hear the narration of what-was-what. They really made sure that everyone got a chance to enjoy the full experience. My wife thought it was a little slow while waiting for our group's turn, but I was busy enjoying the lake. Often times, even when it wasn't our turn at the viewing panels, we could still see interesting things in the water due to the clarity of Lake Superior. I'd definitely go again. read more

What a wonderful experience. From the time our outing was booked with Linda to the time Capt Teresa pulled off the dock we enjoyed every minute. Capt Teresa is such a great leader and story teller. She was able to explain about the history of the area and even took time to show everyone an eagles nest! The boat staff were friendly and so helpful. I would recommend this tour to anyone that is fascinated by shipwrecks! This will be a tour I'll take over and over. Totally worth the price of admission. Went with group including kids aged 10-16, all three had a great time. Captain got the boat extremely close to a beautiful cave, I thought we were going ashore! Besides the shipwrecks, which were fascinating, we saw other points of interest such as a lighthouse, houses on Grand Island, and an eagle at his nest. We were in a small group somewhat off season (First Sunday after Labor Day) so they were able to allow for a bit more time at each wreck (normally they have you swap spots with half your group). Seeing the 3 shipwrecks promised on this tour was the part of our Munising trip we most anticipated. Unfortunately, we only saw the first ship. We were then taken out farther in the lake, shown a lighthouse--and then we were told the water was too rough to see the other two ships, and we were returned back to shore. We were incredibly disappointed to only receive a 50% refund when we only saw 1/3 of the ships we'd been promised. It might have been a great experience if we could have seen all three shipwrecks, or at least two, or at least if we'd been given a better refund. read more

This tour was chosen out of two other tours that Munising offered. It was a great experience and it was also unique because we never heard of a boat with a glass bottom that tours shipwrecks. The boat we were on was called the Fireball and it was two decks. One deck was outside and the other was inside and heated. The glass bottom was viewable to everyone and had enough room for about 20 people to gather around. It was really great and I just wish we could hear the tour guides better but it was a great opportunity and even had photo opportunities of the surrounding area. Well worth it! Young children may get bored since its about two hours. My 8 and 12 year old were a bit tired of it at the end.

This tour was fun. It was too wavy so we only saw one of the two wrecks but the refund the money if you can't see the second wreck.

The only way to get closer to these wrecks is to scuba dive them. The crew is very skilled at navigating over the wrecks so that everyone has a chance to see them. (We were broken into 2 groups and passed over each one twice.) Our weather was beautiful and the lake was calm, so I could see the wreck from the top deck of the boat when it was the other groups turn. Depending on the day and time really can impact how crowded the boat is. From what I have heard the early tour is usually the least crowded. The one around noon is the most crowed. (on weekends and holidays) On a average summer weekday, the entire area (beaches and other sights) is less crowed. read more

This was a great tour. We originally prepaid for a 3:30 tour, but arrived in town much earlier than we planned. I asked to go on the earlier tour, and they were very nice about switching us. My husband and I enjoyed it, but our 8 year old son REALLy enjoyed it. The Captain and the other staff member were very knowledgeable about the wrecks we were viewing, and the Captain did a great job of maneuvering the boat over the wrecks so that everyone got a chance to see the sunken ships. In addition to all of the good things going on in and under the boat, we were surrounded by beautiful scenery. I highly recommend this tour. read more
