I dont know if the chef wasn't familiar with making Hunters Chicken but it neither looked or tasted like it and once again the chicken was not cooked properly, and last of all I myself ordered Roast Pork and I,m sorry to have to say it but it both looked and tasted disgusting. We were very disappointed as we were looking forward to making our 1st visit to halfway House but I,m afraid we won,t be booking a meal here again.

Part of the patio is heated so even if its not too warm you will be ok. And for the pool players this is one of the only pubs in the area with a pool table. And a good one at that. They have a wide range of lager on tap as well as speciality local beers from Yorkshire. Not the cheapest place to drink but a good place to drink with a warm friendly atmosphere. The pub has grown in size over the last couple of years, to incorporate more space which is what Fanny's ale house was always missing. You do still get a lot of people hanging around outside on a busy day, although most of these are probably smoking. There is always a large selection of real ales on offer, with a lot being locally produced. Definetely worth a visit if you are in the area. Easy to find as well with it being located on the main road through Saltaire.

We have dined indoors and outdoors here on several occasions and each occasion makes us return. Sadly, the one near where we were parked was lacking a bit on the menu so we began our aimless drive to venture into the unknown of finding a dog-friendly but nice food serving pub- thought this was a bit of a Leprechaun idea! (aka- imaginary) After a bit of google help and nearly giving up on life, we stumbled upon The Old Glen House. The drive through the village had been quite nice and on 1st sight, the pub looked a bit underwhelming. How mistaken can one be! Not only is it a lovely setting but the menu offered and food provided was superb. I took advantage of a 'Blond ale' and the Mr had a Guinness, both were good quality and this place seems to be proud of it's Ale business and treats it well. We'd rang ahead to make sure the listing on the Internet was correct and they did still allow the pooches so they'd reserved us a table near the door and on the stone floor area (understandable as sometimes dog smells and carpets don't agree). I'd originally thought this would have meant us being stuck in the 'poor relation' corner but no way- I'd consider where we sat to be pride of place! The locals were very friendly and chatted away while petting the pooch- he obviously loved this. We absorbed the menu and had been told of a slight wait due to a party of 13 just getting in before us- didn't bother me, plenty more time to appreciate the surroundings. The pub is a very old building with decking and seating outside (and a Tea room annex attached which served teas/coffee/scones etc) and decorated to a modernish but very sympathetic high standard inside. Rabbit and chorizo terrine to start with homemade tomato tapanade- OMG- lush as lush can be- very tasty, lots of flavoursome rabbit and chorizo and I must pinch the recipe for future! Our mains were Steak and chestnut mushroom pie with mash and sticky belly pork with soy and sesame noodles. Whoa- there was mounds of noodles and so much belly pork I thought I had been given 2 portions! It was absolute heaven! And with the silence that descended on the Mr- I am confident that the pie was top notch also- there seemed plenty meat in it to please him anyway. The puppy was suitably quite while whist fully waiting for scraps unfortunately for him it didn't work on this occasion- far too nice to share with the dog! A nice side of al-dente veges had been provided which were also very good quality and went lovely with both dishes. A couple at the bar who'd we established were regulars looked on salivating while we dined at the smells wafting their way. By the time we'd finished the main course, there was no way we could have managed dessert which I'm sure would have been just as delightful. A soda and lime, the half of ale,Guinness and all the food came to £33- a true bargain for the pleasure we had encountered. But I had never been in the pub or adjoining tea room. By car its not the most accessible place, you either have to do it from Baildon Village or from Eldwick. Strangers to the area should use a sat-nav ! Orderd a pint of Harvest Gold bitter (3.9%abv) £2.80 and was shown to the table by a pleasant mannered an chatty young lady, who brought the menus, enough to choose from but so extensive it takes ages to read . Now there was something you rarely see, Potted Shrimps (£4.95) and I decided to stay fishy and have the battered Haddock for main (£8.95) Before they were served , a different young lady, also pleasant mannered, brought a lovely chunk of Olive bread, which must have been either home made or from a local bakery. The shrimps arrived as expected in a small pot of dill butter, and four good sized pieces of excellent wholemeal toast and some green garnish. Thoroughly enjoyable. The fish arrived with proper home cut chips and a too small pot of mushy peas, too bright green in colour to have been home made the proper way and therefore must have been from a tin. The fish itself was well cooked , but was let down by the batter, a rather pale batter with a floury texture, I suspect from vegetable oil based batter mix. Yes it was crisp on the outside, but had a soft partially cooked floury layer on the inside adjacent to the fish. Not dark ,crisp and from beef dripping like the one time local Harry Ramsden used to serve at his nearby establishment in nearby Guiseley (alas Ramsdens chain now are but a shadow of their former self). I left most of the batter. Was a bit tight on time so declined a dessert. Bill was £16.70. I saw a good variety of other food passing by and it all looked pretty good, so maybe I have to revisit and try something else, but something should be done about that batter ! Another small criticism, could you offer better quality table napkins. Paper is fine but not so flimsy as the ones you are using. I stay a couple of days nearly every week in the area so should get the opportunity, and will happily review again.

It's got a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Depending on what you like, it might be too quiet, I've been before and been the only people in the place.

It is now such a busy popular pub with loads of locals and visitors who go just for the real ales. It is famous for having the most real ales in that area, so it can get very busy. It also serves beer/spirits and soft drinks and a small amount of cocktail kind of drinks. The pub is in a very popular area in baildon and is lovely to call into a good oldfashioned pub after a day of rambling - to relax infront of the open fire with a nice cold vodka and coke - lovely. There is a limited food menu at certain times of the day but it isnt always available - when we called in last there was no chef to cook which was a disappointment. They were talking about extending that side of things so that mightve been done now. The interior is lovely and cozy with an oldfashioned traditional feel. The staff are very friendly.

But we were very disappointed that we had a table booked from 4:00pm to 6:00pm and after the main course the waitress asked if we would like a sweet to which we answered yes, and then a couple of minutes later we were told that we had to change tables which I do think was very bad mannered. We had 40 minutes or so left on our booking, and had noticed a table near us that were there before we got there and still there, only drinking hot drinks so we couldn't understand at all why we were moved. This really made us feel that we weren't important clients at all. If the pub had overbooked, that wasn't our problem. We have been to this restaurant many times, but this time went away feeling very disappointed.

Despite the challenges of planning something with hosts who were in the U.S., the Waterside made this dinner a night everyone will remember. It was the first time bringing together different strands of a family that literally came from around the world. Ian kept everything running perfectly. We met up earlier in the day to iron out a few details and then those of us hosting didn't have to worry about a thing. Paul Huddlestone is a world class chef who works with fresh, organic, Yorkshire ingredients to make a menu that is both local and international in flavors. We are a family who really enjoy good food -- with many avid cooks, including professional chefs -- and everyone loved the food. The wine selections were perfect. And the prices were reasonable too, which was also a factor selecting the Waterside as a place for the dinner. They worked with us to please the tastes of everyone. Despite having a larger group, the selections were customized. The staff were all so warm and friendly. Chef Paul even surprised us with a lovely amuse bouche for our sparkling wine toast at the start of the meal. By dessert there were many more toasts thanks to a dinner that made us now one family. I have attached some photos just to show how happy we all were -- and the good food and relaxed atmosphere made that possible. If you want to have a dinner with some world class food that is firmly rooted in local cuisine, you should dine here. In addition, if you are planning a larger special occasion dinner: I cannot recommend the Waterside highly enough.
