The inhabitants of medieval Gascony were notoriously boastful, and the word "gasconade" carries their vainglory into posterity. Perhaps in this way Shipley, too, will become synonymous with great pubs in the future.
The Shipley Pride is a cozy neighborhood pub, just up Saltaire from the office. It's a small place with the bar to your left as you walk in, and several tables to your right, with a few more around to the side. You might think you'd overhear your neighbors, but the tables are situated such that you can actually find some privacy amid the din. The patterned carpet, quintessential pub fittings, and dark wood furniture all lend the proper air of refuge from the daily grind. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a couple of perfectly hand-pulled pints of local brews like John Smith's or Timothy Taylor's before heading next door to Thai Fever or across the street to Aagrah for a dinner curry.
Shipley certainly has something to be proud of with the Shipley Pride. read more
