Shipley's is delicious. We have gone to this location for 20 years. For virtually that whole time the same people seemed to lead there. An older couple who I assume is/was owner/operator. Some help would come and go but it was always led by these 2 and with that, quality flowed. Mainly, accuracy and pleasantness and familiarity, big smiles greeting, remembering the kids, etc. In the last year I don't see them there anymore. It is all new teenage kids and usually someone new each time I'm at the drive through. With the new faces come lack of maturity in greetings, no more friendless like there once was, and frequent mistakes at the window. Like McDonald's level mistakes in the order. I order the same thing most times and get different prices, I usually need to check the order before I leave, and as soon as I don't, they forget something. I'm ordering for a family, so the orders are larger. But we order one thing at a time...I'm not rattling it off like a psycho and we are playing a memory game here. And the prices! Oh the prices have gone up so much for icing and dough! Anyways, the vibe has changed majorly in terms of the serving team. Still the same quality donuts IMO. But I miss the OG team. Others may not, but it is very noticeable if you've gone there for a long time. Just check your order in the drive through line and don't expect to see a smiling friendly familiar face anymore. I have ordered from this place because it says they are open untill 4:30 pm, the first time I scheduled an order for 2:30 pm and today for 1 pm and both times they have been closed so I had to cancel my door dash order, it's available to be ordered from on door dash and says open untill 4:30 on google, but it's always closed. Extremely inconvenient and unprofessional, update your hours. read more

I went through the drive through and asked the older blonde lady if they had any breakfast sandwiches, as every donut store I've gone to does, she looked at me like I was crazy and rudely said no. So I asked for an old fashion donut and they gave me a cinnamon roll. I went inside to let them know it was wrong. The same lady was asking me what I meant by "old fashion" when I explained it she again was rude to me and told me I was wrong. She needs an attitude adjustment if she wants to work in the service industry. Good service. Very fast especially in the drive thru. Super easy in and out of the parking lot to get back on the highway.

I hadn't been here in a while, so I decided to go by there. I ordered on the app, which is horrible because it charges a service fee and adds a tip. The service is terrible. The workers don't reply when you speak to them or greet you when you walk in the door. My order wasn't ready and the people there mill around like cattle, not caring if they wait on you or not. The doughnuts are also not as good as I remember. I think in the future I'd rather take my business elsewhere, even if I have to pay more for the doughnuts because I can do better. read more

The new owner could care less about the service his employees are delivering and is not a good staple to have in our community. i go in just about every single day because my son loves the donut holes. and i'll get a cinnamon roll once a week or so. it's my favorite from the menu and that's just about the only good thing there. the staff is rude!!! and as other reviews have said it, they dont care if they wait on you or not. i've seen so many new faces come and go. and it seems like the friendly ones are the ones i dont see any more. the 2 older ladies are the only ones that i look forward to seeing. theyre always so warm and kind. the "younger" staff could really use re-training and some lessons from the two older ladies. this morning when i went in to get my order, the girl saw me approaching her , she had just got through serving a person in front of me and instead she turns around and starts talking to the other two co-workers at the drive through. i had to forcefully give her my order and when she returned with it - she said HERE. it took me a minute to realize what she had said. i've experienced some very care free (i dont care) attitude when i'm there but this was the icing. read more

I'm rating them based on their drive thru service which I use weekly. My daughter is in love with their donuts and I have to say that the blueberry cake donut is AMAZING. I've lived in Waco for one year now and everyday on our drive to school there is a line of cars wrapped around waiting for donuts. The wait is VERY quick! I love the drive thru window service and lucky for us the parking lot is connected to a back road that lets you go to Starbucks! Or vice versa, depending on which direction you are headed. This means you can get Starbucks and use the backroad to get donuts. I always have had a good experience and I've gone here weekly for 2 months. They are not gourmet so I don't see why people are complaining and rating this company low. read more

Usually love this place but this morning got lectured by an older woman. She even stated while she was lecturing me that it wasn't. (She even knew it) I had to finally interrupt and ask her if I could get donuts. I was close to walking out. I can see where she would think the way she does but keep it to yourself. And if you think you are just being helpful, (which she said) if you barely come up for air....your not being helpful. You don't know me or what I am going through. So I would normally just be mildly irritated with such a person and just brush it off. But not with both parents having been in the hospital 2 days apart because of a stroke and cardiac arrest. And me being the caretaker of both; it was not appreciated in the least. (I was chauffeuring to the Dr. and running late) Not the best thing for her, but your mom won't eat much and wants a donut before her appt, you get her a donut! I like Shipley's but am so consumed by all happening with my parents that it really upset me. It is going to take me a really long time if ever to go back because how she made me feel. I am close to tears because of all the pressure I am under and this didn't help. Maybe she was having a bad day too, I don't know. You never know when your smile or words can make somebody's day well, this lady did the complete opposite. I just heard I believe where they are under new management, I hope she is not it. And if she is, she needs to reevaluate her personality type for being in a customer service industry. Good donuts though, can't deny that. read more

The drive thru line is always crazy long, but it is inpressive how quickly they operate. the donuts I recieved were pretty dry, smaller, and tasted stale. My husband and kids love the kolaches(spelling?). Service is fast and friendly, and the prices are like that of their competitors. read more

Someone brought some glazed donuts and Kolaches to a meeting at work the glazed donuts were still warm and very good. The Kolaches were also pretty good, definitely worth a stop. read more

Can't understand how this place survives. We went and tried several donuts and kolaches. While inside most of staff was friendly but one was rather lacking in courtesy. Donuts are just ok and smaller than the normal donuts I grew up with Dunkin and others. Kolaches were tiny of meat and overpriced for again something so small. Please oh please will a real donut/ Bagel shop come to us in Waco/Hewitt/ Woodway. Daylight Donuts just plain lacks a good staff/owner. read more

I see a long line for the drive through frequently so with a friend in town we decided to try. I can honestly say, I will never wait in line here again. We had a fairly small order: 1 jelly donut (skimpy on the jelly), chocolate iced cake (missing the chocolate iced portion), cinnamon cake- pretty good, 1 glazed donut- entirely missing from the order, and two sausage and cheese kolaches- really good. I am a very forgiving consumer and seldom, if ever give reviews. But as a place that is accustomed to long lines, and with a well-known name, I expected much more. Shipley's is as good as it gets for donuts! The donuts are wonderful. Always taste great! And the prices are awesome. The staff is generally nice.
