Definately the best variety in town, and super friendly too. My new favorite doughnut place.

The cinnamon rolls they had an entire page in the menu dedicated to some sweet, swirly cinnamon goodness options but all of them were $11.11 so I chose the classic one for $5 & change. Don't think I've ever seen a cafe or restaurant where most of their prices are with either the same 3 or 4 digits lol Reason why it's not 5 stars is the stimuli in that place was way more than I can handle. I ended up having to take deep breaths in car & take time to regulate my nervous system before driving off. Everything echoed & seemed like the decibel of sound doubled. From the blender for smoothies to the emptying out the coffee grounds from espresso machine against the trash can to the ear piercing drag of the chairs from patrons. Not the most peaceful place to eat & I certainly couldn't comfortably hold a phone conversation. Wouldn't hesitate to return but a to-go order it would be!

It truly shows why this establishment has survived the better part of a century. Sausage (local) was good and hearty! Paired it with two perfectly cooked over easy eggs. The buttermilk pancake was perfection. Light and fluffy, soaked the butter and syrup up quite nicely! Definitely check out this breakfast spot if you are in town. I know I will be back!

The food itself was a bit of a split decision. The ham steak was excellent--hands down the best I've ever had. The pancakes were good (and MASSIVE) although I ordered banana pancakes which were basically plain pancakes with ONE slice of banana on the top...pretty disappointing in that regard but they still tasted good. The bacon was really good. However, I was surprised and disappointed that they don't serve hash browns or any kind of potatoes at all, which feels like a big miss for a breakfast spot. The restaurant is extremely crowded, and the atmosphere just isn't my style. It's very diner‑ish, which some people may enjoy, but it's not for me. That said, our waitress was genuinely kind and very helpful, which was a pleasant change. Years ago, I had a bad experience here where we felt rushed out the door, and it left such a bad impression that I swore I'd never return. Service this time was much better, and I do give credit where it's due. Overall, while there were some standout items on the menu, the long wait, crowded space, and limited sides mean I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. Definitely not worth an hour wait in my opinion.

Cafe 1217 - A Fresh Break from the Road Trip Diet…read more What a relief to stumble into Cafe 1217 after days of heading southwest on a steady rotation of BBQ, grits, and beans. Delicious, yes... but the body eventually starts asking for a vegetable and a reset. The space itself matches that feeling. Simply decorated, with bright murals, clean lines, and a cheerful, easygoing vibe that feels light the moment you walk in. My husband gave me full ordering authority, which is always a bold move. I went straight into tapas mode because everything on the menu looked too good to choose just one. We ended up with a spread: chicken pot pie (which quickly abandoned any "small plate" intentions), field greens and baby spinach, a shrimp and crawfish cake, and one of each of Rosy's authentic hand-rolled tamales. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without that heavy, road-trip food fatigue. The mint lemonade was refreshing and delicious, a little on the sweet side, but it worked. Service, while perfectly fine, could benefit from a warmer welcome and a bit more guidance, especially for first-timers trying to navigate such an inviting menu. A little extra friendliness up front would go a long way here. Our only real regret? Not saving room for dessert. They looked very tempting, and we'll be thinking about that missed opportunity. If you're on the road and craving something lighter without sacrificing flavor, this spot is a welcome pause.

It's a cozy dining room with a small bar (seats about 4.) Not a huge place so reservations are recommended. Staff were super friendly. I didn't feel out of place in my sweatshirt and jeans but will probably wear something other than a sweatshirt for dinner. It was super cold outside. When you walk into the bathhouse, you can't see the restaurant. Someone at the front desk takes you back to it. The gentleman that took us back was very welcoming. He walked us to our table and gave us information about the menu. If you walk into and no one is at the desk, it's because it takes a moment for them to walk guests back. Be patient. We both had the Vintage Breakfast and it was cooked perfectly. My husband had the Morningrita wish was really good. I had their Classic Bloody Mary. Their mix is made in-house and is great. Oh and they have a Mimosa Flight!!! It's a bottle of champagne and your choice of 3 different juices. We tried mango, pineapple, and strawberry kiwi. All were spectacular. We will definitely be going back to try their lunch and dinner menus.

For example, another restaurant, in Houston no less, offered a house made tortellini dish with TRUFFLES for $32. Maybe I should've considered my options a bit more but the reviews and recommendations set high expectations. The ambience / vibe felt poorly executed. Seems like they use the side room for storage. During our visit the door was left open, and it was obvious employees were going in and out to watch the basketball game. The one positive was the drinks.

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would!! Our food was charred and tasted burned, we ordered burgers, an omelet, and a breakfast plate. The omelet had pieces of burned burger bits in it from the grill. The waitresses were sitting at a table next to ours eating (in between waiting on the kitchen to prep orders) and counting their cash tips while wrapping silverware in napkins. With no hand washing after handling their cash!! After our meal I asked to use their restroom, and I was instructed to go back through the kitchen to the last door on the right. I was in complete shock at the sight of the tiny double galley kitchen, filthy, food droppings everywhere, multiple trash cans overflowing with nasty trash, witnessed one employee digging into a can of black olives with his bare hands and his fingernails were filthy!!! By the back door there was a huge mixer with batter in it stuck to the whisk just sitting there across from the bathroom door. It was hot, cramped, and muggy. Stinky, filthy and definitely not sanitary. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I was so disgusted and decided to write this review so that anyone who is thinking of eating here will know not to!!!
