my boyfriend and i went on an adventure on a sunny saturday in march and ended up by the seaside in weymouth! yes, so good! to celebrate our lovely day out, we ended up in the ship inn which is by the rather pretty marina eating jacked potatoes and drinking wine.
our jacket potato of choice was mature cheddar and jalapeño coleslaw. now, i'm normally a tuna baked potato girl, but jalapeño coleslaw swung it for me, so i branched out and i'm glad i did! the potato was delicious, perfectly cooked, the toppings were not ridiculously ginormous so i managed to finish it all, and the side salad it came with was crispy, fresh and yum! i think it was £4.99, which seemed like good value to me.
the wine was a pinot grigio, £13 a bottle, a decent variety and nicely chilled. the decor in the pub was really nice, and it was an enjoyable place to spend an afternoon. there was seating outside, which on a warmer (but equally as sunny day) would be an absolutely lovely place to sit for a drink or bite to eat.
service was fast and friendly. there does only seem to be one female toilet though, from what i saw, and it's a big place, so when it is busier or later at night, that could get annoying!
hopefully in the summer i shall return to weymouth, as i did enjoy it so! read more
